I love gong to Ulta to get my hair done and buy products. Everyone is friendly and always has a smile on their faces. I always come out looking so happy when my hairstylist Jenny does my hair. Good people and great services.

I visited to get my eyebrows done, big mistake and I surely will not make that mistake again. The eyebrow lady was on lunch and I was told she would be «right back», then I was told«10 – 15 minutes». While I waited another customer came up and asked an associate if their was anyone able to help her, I thought it was rude but hey not my monkey, not my problem. Honestly their wasn’t anyone but a hair stylist there. After 25 minutes I finally was seated to get my brows done, then the«brow lady» decided to help someone else«for just a sec». I finally got my brows done, nothing really special but I said thanks, paid, and gave a tip. For $ 21 I could have gone to a nail salon and got my nails painted and eyebrows done but silly me for trusting Ulta. While I was waiting in line 2 ladies cut me and the cashiers just looked at me. I’m a quiet person so maybe I should have spoken up but they could have at least said something. I will continue to shop at Ulta but not at this one. By the time I walked out I was teary eyed and my roommate had to calm me down. Never again.

I am rating the SALON, not the store. Every time I go in to go shopping all the staff is fairly friendly and helpful and I don’t have any problems. Getting my hair done is a different story. My stylist was very young and seemed to have no idea what she was doing. She had an attitude problem from the start. She was literally complaining about my hair, telling me how horrible my ends were, making faces at the fallout that I had when she was washing my hair and making comments like«JEEZ, you’re shedding like crazy.». When I was in the chair getting my cut and color done, she kept dropping combs and clips on the floor, and then PUTTINGTHEMBACKINMYHAIR after they had been on the floor. No cleaning, no new comb, just straight up dropping them on the floor and putting them back in my hair. She used weird cutting techniques that I asked her to please stop doing because I wasn’t comfortable with it(like undercutting portions of my hair super short«so I would have volume») and she just said«Trust me, I do this on everyone, it’ll look awesome.» She also kept wandering away without telling me where she was going, then would come back like 5 minutes later and continue cutting my hair with no explanation as to where she just went or why. My cut and color took so long that by the time she was done, it was 9:30, the store was closing, and they were rushing me out the door. I had no time to do any shopping or anything. I paid a lot for a shitty cut and a splotchy color glaze(almost $ 80 I want to say?) when I could have just paid $ 100 and gone to a real salon where I would have gotten great service, a good cut, and perfect color. If you go here you will get inexperienced stylists with poor techniques and attitude problems. I will never ever go to an Ulta salon ever again.

I would rate negative star if I could. Got a coupon in the mail for $ 55 for a single color and a cut. It excluded master level stylists. I did not realize that I was going to get someone who had no clue what they were doing. I arrived with a picture of the color I wanted as well as two for the cut. Upon picking out a color, I was informed that they were out of the one I wanted. The stylist attempted to make it by mixing other colors using my input(why she thought I was qualified to help with that I’ll never know). When she said she thought the options we picked would work I trusted her because I knew I showed her a picture. After she was done I realized my hair was way too red and not brown at all. I told her that and instead of apologizing and offering a solution she proceeded to hold the swatches up to my head and explaining that«it wasn’t that far off from what I PICKED. After some discussion she attempted to offer a solution and after nearly fifteen minutes she had to seek out the help of a more experienced stylist who thankfully offered a helpful solution. She also had to help with my haircut as my current stylist had messed it up. And then she had the nerve to ask the other stylist how much she should charge me right in front of me. After the second color application(did I mention it took her over an hour I apply color both times?), she then went to blow dry my hair. She asked how I wanted it styled and I specifically asked her not to put any products in because I was going home and going straight to bed. She proceeded to put no less than six products in my hair which is now greasy and heavy. They weren’t even good products. She then told me about the products as if I would be able to purchase them. I should have mentioned that my appointment began at five and by the time she was ready to blow dry it was 9:30. The store was closed and the other staff had turned most of the lights off. How was I going to shop for products? After she was done blow drying my hair I had to ask her if she would be kind enough to cut my bangs and do my face framing even though I specifically stressed how I wanted this done, so I thought she would have made a point to remember. Then after she cut my bangs and the framing one side I had to ask her if she would be so kind as I even it out by framing the other side. After five hours of trouble, I left with a haircut that was less than spectacular(my bangs are still not right) and a color that was at best, close to what I asked for which is comparable to something I get from a box color doing it myself. Not only was I never apologized to(why would I, my stylist made it quite clear that she thought I was to blame for selecting the wrong two colors to mix together, even though it as obvious that she had the ratio off), but I was asked if I wanted to rebook, asked if I wanted to leave a tip, and not offered a discount. I know that I booked with a coupon, but honestly I spent five hours in the store when it should have only taken two. I am disappointed in Ulta for putting someone so unprepared on the floor and I am unhappy with the entries situation. If there was a manager on duty, why did they not come over and ask if they could help? Awful experience and I am never going back again. Probably not even to shop.

Yay for Dekalb Ulta… I was driving to Geneva every time I had to get my makeup. I use Napoleon products and Dermatological for my face wash so this is certainly a great thing for me. The price can be high but come on people this is ULTA not a drug store… if you dont want to spend the money then go somewhere else. You get great quality for the price you are paying for… the proof is in the product. Plus if you feel as though the product is not for you after buying it then you can simply return it. Just make sure its more than 80% there or they wont take it. So basically you cant try to use it to your advantage and expect to get your money back. This specific store is pretty nice, spacious and lots of product on the shelves. I do understand how one of the other reviews states that someone was following them around as if they were about to steal something though because I certainly felt that way as well… maybe it was because the last time I was in was about the same time the holidays were going on and being a new store and all maybe they were more paranoid… I didn’t feel the eyes following me today. I like to ask about new products that I want to try out sometime and its really a hit or miss, sometimes you get someone who knows about the product and sometimes not. If they cant sell the item I usually just end of taking a picture of it and reviewing it online myself later. I guess it saves me money that way. I love the points system with my Ulta card! It is a must if you go to Ulta often or even just a few times. I always save so much money that way! If you dont have it yet check it out next time!

Really happy to see an Ulta in DeKalb. I love love love this store but am sad for the Sally’s next door. I will still shop comparing prices…
