Came here with coworkers on a work trip. They said it was good the last time they came. I think this was the worst buffet experience I have ever had. The food was what you would expect for a buffet in the middle of nowhere. It was cheap, but I would not go back.

It’s always a hit or miss with this restaurant. Their dessert area is a joke. It’s hard to give an opinion on the food only because there are times when it’s good & then there are times when it’s bad. Their salad bar is pretty much the only thing you can count on. There have been countless occasions where I’ve received dirty utensils & grabbed dirty plates from the clean stack. It smells & looks VERY old! The customer service is pretty good.

OHMYGOD, WHATWAS I THINKING!!! Here are my list of excuses for why I stayed after walking in and setting down. I had been driving for four hours that day, I had been hiking around the desert for about another five hours. I was really tired. This place was right next to my hotel and it took me three minutes to walk there. So that is my list of reasons of why I stayed in what was the dirtiest restaurant I have ever been in. There must of been almost as much food laying on the floor as there was on the plates of the dozens of tables that needed bused. NO, NO, NO. It’s like a bad dream I had thinking back to eating there. I don’t know why I didn’t take pictures of the amount of food on the floor? I could of also taken a few pictures of «food» on the buffet. I wasn’t able to identify all of it as to what it actually was. They don’t put little place cards on any of it letting you know, and I didn’t feel adventurous enough to try any of it. If you like sticky tables, dirty floors, runny mash potatoes, cold meat loaf, and bland everything else, THENTHISISTHEPLACEFORYOU! If you don’t like any of those things, then don’t be like me. Get in your car and drive to at least the next restaurant. Don’t be lazy and just walk to the closest one.

Not worth it. I used to like this place years ago in Oklahoma. I came to Del Rio and got nostalgic for the Sirloin Stockade I remembered from long ago. This newer version of SS is horrible! Insipid food, bad tasting food, and poor selection. Yikes! They have come a long way in a bad way from their former self. You are better off anywhere else for 10 bucks.

This restaurant was filthy on the Thursday afternoon of my visit. There was food on the floor and unclean dishes on many unoccupied tables. As far as re food, this is. below-average establishment. The variety was adequate but little looked freshly prepared. I won’t be visiting this place again.

The fried chicken was a pleasant surprise today. It reminded me of the old days when everyone raised chickens and fried a couple to serve relatives who came over for Sunday dinner.

Not a fan of this place. I’m not into buffets to begin with just because its hard to have decent quality at one. The parking lot seems to always be full, so I guess if you’re into lower quality food in massive amounts, then go for it.

It’s buffet food. Yikes, not my deal but my grandma loves it. The sweet tea is good.

I think many people(including the diner with whom I ate) would believe that three stars is too generous for Sirloin Stockade. For me, however, there are only two primary expectations that I have when going to a buffet: the food is edible and the place is sanitary. The former criterion is taken in the literal sense — they had food and I could eat it. The latter seemed to be met from my observations, but the biggest danger of buffets — that the food is not kept at the proper temperature — went untested, as I do not carry around a meat thermometer everywhere I go. It seemed good enough. For a place with«Sirloin» in the name you’d think they would offer some steak, and indeed, there was a man working with several pieces of bottom sirloin on a grill, ready to cook one to my preferred doneness. Unfortunately, I had to visit Sirloin Stockade on a Wednesday, which is Mexican night(because I don’t get enough of that cuisine in the rest of the town). The tamales were greasy, the enchiladas mushy, the broccoli waterlogged, and the fried okra was soft, but what do you expect? The main appeal of buffets is variety and quantity. It’s impossible to produce high-quality food in the amounts that would be required in Sirloin Stockade, so we resign ourselves to paying the eight dollars and pretending the meal we’re ingesting is anything more than bland sustenance until the next time we eat. In researching Sirloin Stockade, I see that there are several dozen franchises of the restaurant across eight states, and aside from one location in each of Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio, they are all located in small towns. It seems to me that Sirloin Stockade is popular enough to warrant many franchises, but not enough to compete in a big town with other larger chains such as Golden Corral.
