Love this place. Wonderful service and homemade tasting food. They are cash only and if you aren’t prepared for that at the end of your meal, they just tell you to come back and pay them. I can’t believe what a well-run business this is. One of my favorites in DeLand.

Excellent breakfast. I ordered the Crab Benedict and the beau had the regular Benedict. Both were great. Best hash browns ever!!!

Have only had their breakfast and it was amazing! So yummy and homemade — I felt like I was eating in my grandma’s kitchen. The staff was great and friendly. The prices are extremely reasonable. But keep in mind you need to bring CASH, no credit cards accepted. I am glad we had enough cash on us the day we went or we would have missed out on a great breakfast.

A classic quaint breakfast spot. You know it’s good because it is packed on a Tuesday. The food was just delicious. Good coffee too.

It’s been almost 4 years and Doug and Lil’s Potato Patch is still at the top of my breakfast list. Thanks again to you and your staff for another great breakfast.

My first trip here. Visiting in nearby Deltona. Decided to try this joint out for breakfast. Kind of a down-home type of place. Friendly. Nice portions, tasty, piping-hot food. I had a meatlovers omelet with cheese grits and toast. I’d love to come back here. they don’t take plastic. Didn’t know that and didn’t notice it on website. The server told me I could write my name and phone number on the ticket and come back later to pay the bill. Fortunately, we had enough cash. I thought that made up for the inconvenience of not knowing we couldn’t use plastic. I will be back again.(yes, I noticed the sign after the fact.)

Seriously good lunch! My husband and I went to lunch today at Doug and Lil’s in DeLand. He had the Philly steak sandwich and I had the grilled chicken salad. His sandwich($ 8.25) was on a round bakery roll either supplied by a local bakery or made onsite. The steak, peppers, and onions were generous. It was served with a gourmet bag of chips and a large quarter pickle. He also had the sweet iced tea($ 2.25) My salad had hard boiled egg, cheese, tomato, cucumber, black olives and a pepper topped with a perfectly grilled chicken breast. The chicken had that perfect sear on the outside and was moist and tender on the inside. The greens were very fresh and the rest of the toppings first class. I topped it off with the homemade vinaigrette($ 8.25). I had unsweetened iced tea and was very happy to have brewed tea that wasn’t bitter($ 2.25). We declined the to go cups of tea. We already knew about the no credit policy by reading other Unilocalers reviews. Great visit all around, can’t wait to go back.

Never would have thought to go here. My husband introduced me. This place is the best breakfast diner in Deland, at least in my opinion. My husband likes their eggs Benedict. I’ve never been disappointed. Remember to bring cash because they do not accept plastic. I love the atmosphere and the tea in mason jars.

So good. Was a little better when they were buying that old lady’s homemade potato patch hot sauce, but it turned out to be dangerous so they stopped carrying in the condiment caddy. Regardless, you can still score a good Eggs Benedict there. Please note –Cash Only(the American kind too)

Read a lot of good reviews and even the not so nice ones so here’s our assessment: Loved it! Breakfast at 945 am on Good Friday. Super small quaint place. First thing I notice was sign on outside of front door stating no cash — no problem I had some on me, but could catch many digital age people off guard. There was a 10 minute wait unless we wanted to sit at the bar, so we grabbed to seats at the bar and had a full view into the kitchen as well. First observation-everysingle person was working, bustling, greeting, making new coffee, expediting food, or just plain doing something. Constant positive motion to keep the restaurant and time flowing. My husband commented that the owner was smart to have experienced server compared to other nearby restaurant who hire teenagers and then wonder why service is bad. I was annoyed to see some reviews labeling the servers here«overworked“‘ –these ladies are seasoned and on point. If you want teenagers to serve you hit up a nearby sports bar. I loved the staff their interactions with customers and attention to guests. Our cups were never empty. Love the Mason jars of water. Food ordered Veggie omelet with grits, and eggs n sausage. The omelet was piping hot and perfect with nice crispy fresh veggies inside. My husband LOVEDTHE sausage served, a little spice to it so be prepared, I don’t like spicy stuff but I thought it was awesome as well. Grits were good. Happy with food and it’s not expensive at all. Grabbed a biscuit to take home and will be sure to go back. Note: good food that regulars love There will be a wait. I wouldn’t take my toddlers because of distractions and size, but I will definitely be going back and recommending to others. I didn’t find this to be a «good Olé boy» place either… it was country and quaint décor, and yes the waitresses use calculators and an older register– but the good food and service won over my husband and I in a big and we are the farthest thing from«good Olé boy» culture, lol.

Awesome little place. I had biscuits and gravy with 2 eggs and hash browns. All the food was prepared perfectly and served hot. I didn’t see any glazed — eyed 16 year olds working here. The staff seemed to communicate well and backed each other up. When the waitress checked on me, it felt like she genuinely cared what I had to say. I don’t often tip really high but a $ 5 tip on a breakfast for one felt right. Good exerience! The only thing I would recommend is a thorough«detail cleaning». When you see dust caked on a light fixture or a ceiling fan, you wonder how clean everything else is and if any of that might fall into the food. That minor complaint won’t keep me from giving 5 stars though. I’ll be back next time I’m in town.

Great food and atmosphere! We waited about 20 minutes for a booth as this place was hopping for Sunday brunch. Traditional breakfast fare did not disappoint as we were hungry! Service was great despite the wait.

It’s a breakfast place with lunch sandwiches. It’s full of locals of various shapes and sizes. My food was decent except for some weird taste like burnt fish from the fryer that lasted one bite. I’m just so over country style diners with that down home decoration style. Can’t we think of something better by now? It was kind of like eating in some old persons house, I would rather have my restaurants look like a restaurant, not a house, if I wanted to eat in a house I could have started home. Anyhow no rocket science here, just old fashioned eggs and taters and grits and cold toast. GRAVY Overworked waitresses, coffee forever. Bring your good old boy accent and you’ll be fine.

The food here is very flavorful and the service is fast and friendly. And walking in you realize this is the cutest place ever! We are seldom up for breakfast, but the boyfriend needed to eat & this place popped up on the Unilocal radar. It is located in a quaint little area(what looks to be a converted house) in downtown Deland. We arrived around 9ish on a Thursday morning & sat in a both. I went with the Crab Omelet with cream cheese recommended by our waitress. I chose the potatoes and pancake for my side. Everything came out hot, fresh & yummy – a perfect meal! So funny, because we still talk about this adorable establishment and can’t wait to go back. If you happen to be in this area or just driving through like we were, it is definitely worth stopping here to enjoy a little southern hospitality and good solid food. Just remember to bring cash…

I’ve been wanting to try this place for several years the parking has always been full during lunch so I’ve passed it by, fortunately I had the opportunity and finally gave it a try it’s as solid of a place as most of the reviews state. Unfortunately I was the only one who had cash money so I paid for the entire tab i understand the concept but it still sucks they don’t take plastic I see they also take checks I was unaware people still use checks but I guess some do. It’s not the cheapest stop in town so bring a couple of twenties I’d say it gonna be about $ 10 — $ 12 a person average with your drink and tip. The interior décor is pure country flowers, roosters, plaid and plastic it’s a little cramped but comfortable in a «I want to meet my neighbor» kind of way. The food is a home run lots of choices and it all looks good I chose a double cheese burger and chips. The burger was fresh and mammoth hand made patties fresh veggies and a super fresh bun definitely worth the price. The chips came in a bag I thought that was a nice touch since there is no need for all the servers to reach their hands into a food service size bag to load the plate plus the pickle juice doesn’t get them all soggy. You should bookmark this place I know I definitely will return cash in hand.

CASH&CHECKONLY, CASH&CHECKONLY! I definitely missed this memo when I was about to pay. There’s a small sign on front of the door, didn’t even look at it, and missed it from other Unilocaler’s reviews. Bad on my part. But this place wasn’t bad at all, parking is kinda limited, but overall it’s a cute little diner. The ambiance makes you feel like you’re in someone’s house. I could tell it was definitely the local’s favorite spot or that it could just be the only diner in the area. hah. Came here for breakfast, and it was pretty good. I ordered the Country Fried Steak with home fries, eggs, and toast. I really liked the fact that they served the gravy on the side, instead of smothering it all over the steak. Which I don’t mind if they had, but I like knowing the amount of gravy I prefer on my food. It was also nice to see the beverages served in mason jars, cute little touch. Overall this place was not bad, prices seemed a little bit much for a small diner. But it’s fine, just remember what I said in the beginning!
