Wolfe’s Mkt

Great place, been going for years. They are pillars of the community, Chris and Dennis are great people, supporting their community and offering great takeout food. Garlic wings, burgers and pizza are awesome. They get my money at least once a week.

It’s 8pm on a Saturday evening. My husband called and ordered two pizzas. One of them — broccoli, tomato and onion. They gave him a pie with bacon and tomato. Called to notify and they were accommodating and quick to make my replacement pizza given my dietary restrictions.

I must agree with another reviewer. Having waist-​high dogs running around you, inside the store, is an unnerving and unpleasant experience. This is a true Mom & Pop establishment, and they have been in business 45 years. I got the impression that the dogs are brought into the store, only when there is no one to look after them, in the adjoining residence. So, when Pop (a Marine veteran) is away, Mom gets to watch the dogs. It is Mom who runs the establishment almost single-​handedly. But Mom is an inspired chef, and prepares the most delicious foods. I give her juicy submarine sandwiches five stars. They feature thick slices of fresh tomato, and a broad choice of cheeses (i prefer the sharp cheddar). Mom also knows how to take an order. I asked for extra jalapenos on my sub, and she actually gave me a lot. That’s what I like, and that doesn’t happen to me often. That puts Wolfe’s Market on the map for me. If that’s not enough, know that Hollywood’s actress, dancer, and singer Ginger Rogers once ate at Wolfe’s. Her husband was from the local town, Delanson.
