Hollywood Nails

No receptionist and when I arrived the place was packed and all nail techs had their heads down. I stood around for ten minutes. Finally a tech shouted, «lady, what are you here for?» I told her I was there for a pedi. Next question was, «do you have an appointment?» I answered yes and she went back to her task. Waited another ten minutes and they put me in a chair to soak. Next available nail tech started my pedi without asking my name. I don’t go to nail salons for conversation but this process was the most perfunctory and impersonal service I’ve received. The pedi itself was just okay. I suspect they were overbooked as it felt like an assembly line. Tech set me under the fan to dry, took my money and left the building, presumably for lunch or break. Finally, I left. No «goodbye, thank you for coming» from anyone. I’ll look elsewhere for my next nail service.

I am from the suburbs of Chicago. I was so hesitant to get my nails done out here but I saw some good reviews so I decided to try it. A friend and I went on our last day out there. They took us immediately, I had a younger man and she had a younger woman. They were amazing! They talked to us the whole time and kept us entertained. My old gel nails took forever to come off, but he got them off after trying over and over again. My friend loves her nails and the color she picked and I even tried something new ! I got round nails which I never have tried. But I had faith that they would turn out ! I loved it there, I wish I was not two hours away from them! They did a fantastic job. I also had my eyebrows waxed which I rarely ever do in nail salons any more and I was very very happy with the result which is truly rare for me. If you are in the area or even a little out of the way of this place I would go there without a doubt !

They do a great job here! I have been going for years and they all do an excellent job! Lee is my favorite!

I have been wearing artificial nails for thirty years and have been to many salons in Chicago, New York, Lake Geneva and Clearwater Beach, no salon has compared to Hollywood Nails. I have had my nails done by Kevin, Tina and Lee, all are excellent. I have difficult nails and yet they make them look fabulous and I never have any lifting. I receive many compliments on my nails. Incredible but true! Plus, they are very reasonably priced. I recommend them to all of my friends.

I’ve been getting manicures and pedicures on a regular basis for probably 25 years. Because I get manicures bi-​weekly or even weekly, I usually seek out the asian places that are quick, affordable and don’t require an appointment. I find myself in search of a salon in the lake geneva area so today I tried Hollywood Nails for the first time. Pedicure: the male technician absolutely reeked of cigarette smoke. What a turn off! The massage and filing portion of the pedicure was minimal at best and overall, I was not impressed and had decided I would probably continue my search for a good, local option next week.
Onto my manicure: Have you ever had one of those really slow techs that exude zero confidence and you think to yourself «great, this must be her first day and I am her guinea pig». During an excruciating slow manicure with an absolutely pathetic hand massage, the tech accidentally touched my wet polish ruining one of my nails. No biggie. But then she tried to just polish over the smashed polish. I had to ask her to fix it the right way, my removing the polish on that nail and starting over. Should I be paying for smashed polish? While she reluctantly began to fix the damaged paint job, I noticed that she used no base polish. when I asked about this another worker came over to explain that they don’t use base polish with the color I’d chosen. Ok, whatever.
Overall, this was a disappointing experience. I could tell that they cut corners to save money and didn’t put any effort into a positive, relaxing experience for their guests. they said all the right things as they appologized, but I truly don’t think they even understand the difference between a good experience and a bad one.

Terrific place to go. It’s typical of a vietnamese place for them to talk in they’re native language which they do a lot so I don’t think I’m spoiling any surprises but they were terrific to deal with. They were very down to earth and friendly and did an amazing job on my feet, which were no picnic to work on. I’m only giving it four stars because they were a bit pricey at 30 bucks for a pedicure. I would definitely go back and definitely recommend visiting.
