I have been going to this place for lunch for years. They make a great lunch and maybe the best salad in the region. The Mediterranean Salad is a great value which a good amount of grilled chicken, roasted red peppers, olives, artichoke hearts and greens. It is big. I can finish it but when I do I usually have a light supper that day. I’ve seen people take half home for another meal. Their burgers are big and tasty with great fries and a big side salad. I should try the wraps and venture deeper in to the menu but the salads are sooooo good that I find them hard to resist. This would have been a 5 star rating but the dining room needs to be updated.

Wow! They never disappoint. What a wonderful meal. I had the lamb kabob and my wife had the top sirloin. Absolutely flawless. Service was impeccable as always.

How lucky am I to have this restaurant as a lunch option while I’m at work! By far the best falafel in the area, and I’m pretty sure I’ve tried them all. The salads are really done well with homemade dressing. I’ve also tried their chicken kabob, lamb kabob and the blue cheese burger and I’ve never been disappointed. Even the fries were awesome, stayed crispy after being in a take away box. The only problem is you with have some fierce garlic breath for about two days after you eat here.

Unfortunately, I have to downgrade my review. It really breaks my heart, but I feel it is warranted. The hummus is still topnotch and the best I’ve ever had! However, a few entrée dishes I’ve had recently have really missed the mark. The chicken kebob was way overdone. The spices are on point, but it was just too charred. Even smothering it in taziki didn’t help. The Philly flat iron which used to be my all time favorite dish is now almost unrecognizable. Firstly, they no longer serve the flat iron cut of meat. This would be fine, but what they do serve is never consistent and usually a pretty rough cut, nowhere near tender. On one occasion, the steak was so bad, we couldn’t even eat it. The waiter picked up on our displeasure and very graciously removed it from the bill. Also, they used to top it with tons of roasted garlic and now they just throw a couple of pieces on top and the blue cheese sauce used to be nice and thick and delicious and now it’s mostly runny and overall lacking. I still love the Hidden Café but now have to stray away from what used to be my favorite dishes. I miss the old Philly flat iron, return to me! The flavors are still there, but the execution is lacking. I’m still hopeful they’ll improve back to the old quality they used to have.

I believe I’ve reviewed the Hidden Café before because I always have an excellent meal there. But, this one is different — we recently used them to cater a party at our home, and it was excellent. I should say that my husband did the legwork because it was a surprise for me(!!), but he said that he worked directly with the chef in selecting dishes, and that the chef accommodated his requests beautifully. We were having a small crowd of about 30 people, but some vegetarian, some gluten-free, etc. and the chef was able to come up with selections that would appeal to everyone. The food was plentiful, beautifully served and delicious. My guests raved about everything. We had lamb(kebab style, but not on kebabs), a rigatoni dish, mushroom ravioli, hummus and pita, and a big Greek salad with the Hidden Café’s signature dressing. Not only did it make for a great party, but we enjoyed the leftovers for days. :) I would absolutely recommend Hidden Café for your private parties. It was great!

Unfortunatly this place is under new ownership. 3 of us went for dinner Saturday night. We were greeted warmly but that was the highlight. Our hummus was over spiced and the pita was chewy. I had scallops that were like rubber, overcooked. My wife had another scallop dish, same problem, my daughter had a ship dish… same problem. The salad dressing was way too acidic. No lamb that evening(for a Mediterranean place). The place was cold and dimly lit. Prices way high. All in all a major fail.

The restaurant is recently under new ownership, and the dishes sound very good. Unfortunately, the execution just isn’t there. We had the scallop and shrimp dishes, and the food was very overcooked. Everything was very heavy on vinegar and the rice was mushy. In addition, it was quite overpriced. On top of that, the restaurant is cold and dark. The reason this is a 2 star rather than a 1 star is our waiter was excellent. Attentive, friendly, and kept our water glasses full. Not enough to bring us back, though.

This place is definitely hidden, but the food is incredible. I went here for lunch yesterday around 2:00 P.M. The place isn’t anything to look at on the outside, nor is it on the inside, but it’s the food that counts right? I listened to the reviewers and tried the trio as an appetizer in order to taste a little bit of everything. It came with garlic hummus, tzatziki and babaganouj. The hummus was out of this world. I’m not kidding. I want to order it in bulk. The tzatziki and babagqnouj were also great served with a basket of warm pita. I got the chicken kabob served with rice and grilled asparagus, and my dining partner got the lamb kabob served with the same. Both meals were awesome! I can’t wait to go back and try the dinner options. Amazing.

I’m surprised I don’t check in here more often. It’s one of my wife’s favorite spots so we grab lunch here every few months. So much good garlic beware!

Stopped here for lunch several times. Initially, based on reviews I was a little worried that I wouldn’t find a place by 1230, but there were a few tables open. ‘I’ve tried several offerings on their menu, and I have yet to find one that wasn’t exactly what I wanted it to be. Delicious!

The small, bald guy who regularly works there is rude. He made our experience there lousy. We’ll pass.

I’ve been coming to the Hidden Café for really long time and have never had a bad meal here. We usually end up going for lunch, getting sandwiches and salads. They’ve got a pretty good selection but I’m a big fan of chicken pita or the Bedouin sandwich. Every thing I’ve had there has been great. So why only 3 stars? The place is getting really run down, seems a little unkempt and dirty. For the prices you pay the walls shouldn’t have so many dings and dents, bathrooms should be in better shape, you should have to maneuver around boxes to get to them. While I love the place I really think they need to do some sprucing up so the setting matches the food and fits with the prices.

Always a fantastic meal. Great flavor, nice portions, all around super option if your looking for a quiet place to really enjoy a meal. I highly recommend the Seven Spice Chicken Salad and the Babaghanouj.

Seriously. Get the Trio as your appetizer. Everything on the dinner menu will be very good. The vibe is better than can be expected. Lets not even go into the details of how affordable it is. So yeah, seriously, go here.

We were late for our reservation because we couldn’t find the restaurant. Just kidding!(Get it?) The warm pita bread that was brought to our table was over«warmed». It was a bit chewy and should’ve been pulled from the oven sooner. Parts of it were crunchy and some of it tasted stale. But that was the only misstep of the evening. I ordered the Chicken Venetia. As described on the menu… «Sautéed chicken tossed with cherry peppers, chorizo sausage, onions and spinach. Served with jasmine rice & vegetable.» It really hit the spot for me. Lots of large chunks of chicken and slices of chorizo, as well as very large petals of onion and small chunks of cherry peppers, all in a delicious sauce. The spice level from the cherry peppers was perfect. The«vegetable» was three stalks of asparagus nicely charred from the grill. Frankly, I don’t remember the spinach, though it must’ve been in the dish. Nevertheless, the whole dish came together wonderfully, and I’d go back just to eat that again. My wife ordered the grilled salmon. A large, thick, plank of salmon with rice and also three stalks of grilled asparagus. She said her dish like mine, was delicious. This was my first visit to Hidden Café, but it won’t be my last.

This place is so delicious!!! If you like garlic, they have the best hummus I’ve ever had! I’m also a huge fan of their lamb kabob, but their salads(with homemade dressing) are also really good! The ambience is also really pleasant and the service is good. I will say though, if you’re in a rush, this isn’t your place. They make everything fresh… and quality takes time. Definitely worth going though!

They did not honor our reservations! Normally I would give 4 stars for the Hidden Café, especially since they seem to have toned down the salt a bit. But we came 8 minutes early for out 8PM reservation, and I could tell it was hopeless even then. I’m not sure if they just over booked, or if there were a series of disasters throughout the evening, but it was clear that those who were already seated weren’t moving any time soon, and those of us bottlenecking in the doorway had no hope of getting out tables that evening. I would have appreciated an apology or explanation – making reservations means not waiting ATALL and we had waited 20 minutes by the time we gave up and left. But there was no apology, explanation, or even an idea of when we might get seated or an offer of a drink!(The group of 4 standing in front of us were offered beverages). I probably will be coming here again, since I very much enjoy the food and ambiance. But we live in Schenectady. Delmar is in no way convenient, and I don’t appreciate anticipating a great Valentine’s Day meal for a week only to have our reservations basically ignored without any word of compensation – even if there really wasn’t anything they could do.

Despite a higher price than other places in the area, Hidden Café didn’t wow me. Maybe it’s because I make pretty good hummus and roasted eggplant dip at home, so it’s not worth $ 7 or $ 8 to me. We had lamb and chicken as entrees and they were both so salty. I’m not someone who thinks everything everywhere is salty – we were seriously craving and chugging water the rest of the night. Places like this make me miss Moby Dick’s House of Kabob, where you could get a respectable kabob meal platter for a decent price instead of a super salty kabob for $ 20. We didn’t have a reservation, but after initial hesitation we were seated at an open table because we promised we’d be gone by 7. New promise: we won’t be back.
