Yuri is a relatively new takeout shop completely hidden from street view. The most striking feature upon entering is its sheer, immaculate cleanliness. This tiny place is more hygienic than my dentist’s office. I should probably find a new dentist. We went there at 9 p.m. on a Saturday, forgetting that suburban places around here don’t keep the longer hours that restaurants in Albany maintain. Even though they were closed, they saw Rox and I idling by the door and graciously reopened for us. One extra star for that generous and remarkable gesture. We ordered takeout for five people and they assembled a platter of 50 pieces for us, mostly tamer varieties because our friends aren’t too adventurous with sushi. I can’t fully review the food because my own criteria for sushi is based on the preparation of the more exotic offerings, and since they were technically closed, I didn’t want to abuse their kindness. However, what we did have(tuna, spider and California rolls, eel and salmon sushi) was very, very good. Yuri also has a small selection of Japanese sodas and frozen foods.
