Patrons with Celiac Disease or gluten free diets — Be very Careful. This is a copy of a letter I wrote to Shula Burger’s Corporate Headquarters with a cc’d copy to the Manager of Shula Burger in the Delray Marketplace on April 24, 2016. Nearly 2 months later and still no reply! While vacationing in Boynton Beach last week, my sister-in-law Terry, our dear friend, Luci and I decided to visit the Delray Marketplace. Having shopped at the complex, and eaten at Shula’s last year, we chose to do the same this year. So, the first stop on our agenda was to eat, then shop. When Luci was placing her order, she spoke with the counter attendant in depth about her very strict, gluten free diet due to her celiac disease. He was very attentive and helpful. They agreed that she would get a milkshake, sweet potato fries and a Caesar salad with steak, no croutons. Her bill was just shy of $ 28.00. Luci’s meal arrived with a slab of beef(not even sliced) on top of the lettuce and croutons! We called the server back and told her that the order specifically requested no croutons. Luci explained that she suffers from celiac disease and could not eat the meal as it was prepared. The server left with the salad and returned with a salad, sans croutons. By the time we finished eating, Luci was light-headed and dizzy. Within 15 minutes, she was in a neighboring rest room vomiting the entire contents of her stomach(which we now suspect was the result of eating the salad, most likely the original salad, with croutons simply removed). Needless to say, our day of shopping ended abruptly as we quickly returned to our condo so Luci could rest. The carelessness of the server, Chef and/or kitchen staff cost Luci, a grandmother of three, undue stress, pain and suffering and two full days to recuperate from the side effects because of someone’s lack of professionalism while dealing with a specific, special needs order. I write this letter in the hopes that this scenario will never occur again to any individual visiting your establishments. It is my impassioned plea that all waiters, waitresses and kitchen personnel for Shula’s Burger and Steak Houses be properly trained to pay close attention to the health concerns, safety and well being of their paying customers.

Best burgers ever the French onion burger is to die for. We also like the big blue. Burgers are made fresh and fast. Always juicy never dry. And most importantly always cooked correctly which is hard to find. The fries are delicious and crispy as well.

I met some girlfriends here for some beers and burgers. It was 8 of us, and we all got our burgers pretty much at the same time. It’s basically a fast food burger joint with seats. You order everything at the counter and they’ll bring your food to you, with a great attitude

We’ve been here a few times and my sons always enjoy. It’s a bit pricey for what you get, but the service is always friendly and excellent. Yes, the staff may be young, but they are ultra attentive and very, very warm and inviting. We’ve noticed that the quality of the food and size of the portions are consistently getting better. Keep up the good work.

So I’ve been to Shula Burger twice. I’ll say that they’re good in a bind. I was able to order my food and receive it fairly quickly. The French Onion burger was quite yummy and their fries are solid. Definitely wasn’t disappointed like I was the first time. Their service was much better this time. I’ll have to have their steak sandwich and a couple of more items to get a better gauge.

It was my first time here and I honestly wasn’t impressed. For what I paid, I could have gotten more food for my money at my local favorite restaurant than here. The mushroom Swiss burger I had reminded me of a burger I ate at 5 guys only their burgers were better in my memory. The fried pickles were good and so was my moms onion rings, but not worth the price. The pickles were almost $ 5 and not much in the bowl for the price. I was not impressed when the guy at the register interrupted me to answer a phone order. Granted he said excuse me, I thought it was rude to take an order over the phone when your already dealing with a customer. There are tons of patrons in here and maybe they like it but I don’t think I’ll be back anytime too soon. Not for me and my hard earned money. And just now as I was eating my final bite, a worker reached across my face mid bite and asked me if I still needed my plate! Really? No I’m going to eat over my lap. Stupid.

Better when you come in on a weekday and still much better than the mediocre fare at all in the center but Apeiro, where they lose points for hustling you like a used car joint. Quality ingredients are its hallmark. Service is a hit or miss. Today it was a hit and it was clean so up a star it goes

Not sure why all the negative reviews, this placed was very busy when we arrived, once we ordered I thought it would take forever to be served but it didn’t — shockingly had good service, great meal. Burger was cooked perfect. The fries weren’t the best but not terrible. My friend has the steak sandwich and said it was really good. I’ll come back.

This place is iterally being ran by Kids, the oldest person working waa maybe 19. The food was unbelievably bad for a Shula establishment. Even the Pepsi tasted like it was old, then the tea was out. Chicken sandwich made me wish Chicfila was still open and for sure McDonald’s Big Mac is gourmet compared to this.

I wouldn’t question the quality of the burger because it’s one of the best burger restaurant I’ve been but the serving time is ridiculous and it takes me an hour to get my milk shake. Feels bad about the time waiting.

The Burgers are great, the salads not so much. Ordering Shula Burger is a weekly thing for my 13 year old son… i have been told its favorite. but i have say the parking at Delray market place at anytime is always bad

I don’t understand most of these negative reviews. Our family of four all like Shula Burgers over BurgerFi, Charm City, Relish, 5 guys, Smashburger, etc. It’s not even close. My wife refused to eat hamburgers until she had Shula’s.

My sister and her boyfriend suggested we go here for dinner. They said it would be quick and the food is good. I ordered my food. When I finished my sister immediately ordered for herself and her boyfriend who was waiting outside because they had their dog with them. We were given a number and sat at an outside table. They were nice enough to bring a bowl of water for Kona the dog. So we waited. Shortly after waiting a worker came out carrying my lone veggie burger. I did not eat it assuming the rest of the food would be on the way. The next lone food item to arrive was fries. I still did not eat as I was waiting for everyone else to be served. We all slowly picked at the fries aside of Kona who was stimulated by the recorded crow noises blasting every few moments outside the restaurant. About ten minutes later I mentioned how puzzled I was to my dinner companions. My sister ordered immediately after me. Where is their food? They told me this has never happened but I should eat so my food does not go completely cold. I began eating what I would consider a mediocre veggie burger at best. The most interesting thing about this sandwich was the Shula logo branded into the bun. Five minutes later a lone burger arrives for my sister. This was clearly a ruse as her boyfriend stopped her from eating it. She ordered a veggie burger and he recognized that under her toppings lay a beef patty. The burger had to be returned. Within seven minutes their completed order finally made it to the table. A waitress in error came to us with a brownie sundae. We told her that was not for our table. When she left I thought about this for a moment and told them we should have took the sundae to make up for the rest of the less then par experience. I really was not impressed.

I tried another location before and really didn’t think much of it but considering I was hungry and I had some time to kill before the the Summer of Steaks closing event a few doors down from here I came in and ordered the BBQ burger and the Blue cheese chips. The burger was ok but nothing out of the ordinary the problem i had with it is the bacon, it was way overcooked to the point that it didn’t even taste like bacon anymore. The Blue cheese chips were awful on the menu they sound great homemade freshly cooked chips with blue cheese and bacon. What I end up getting was cold very greasy limp precooked chips covered in a tasteless white sauce and some more of that burnt bacon. After yesterday’s visit I will no longer try another Shula Burger I don’t see how Don Shula allows his name on such a bad place.

Everything was okay, but just okay. For a restaurant with the word burger in its name the burger was kind of disappointing. I had the mushroom swiss burger, I like my burgers medium rare, this came out almost medium, was bland and needed salt. Both ice tea dispensers were empty so the cashier apologised and brought a refund for the drink to my table. The sea salt fries were good, nice and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, but they should just be called fries since there was no detectable sea salt anywhere on them. The chocolate shake was kind of small and again was just ok, not real chocolatey. The flies were off putting, but I didn’t hold that against them since it seems to be a problem with Delray Marketplace, not just Shula’s. Tuesday’s kids meals are $ 1.99 with the purchase of an adult meal, even with the savings I still don’t think it was worth the price. Now on the upside, the staff was friendly and service was fast, the food was nice and hot and the milkshake was frosty. Unfortunately the temperature of the food is not enough to bring me back.

Fast food Resturant where you order at the counter, grab a number and food delivered to your table. Ordered the French Onion burger medium. It had caramelized onions, and croutons. The bun had a personalized«Shula» stamped on it. Overall it tasted average. Noting to fight over it. The onion rings tasted over fried. The side jam it comes with was a little strange to me. I’m just used to a sauce rather than a jam. The kids chicken tenders had more breading than meat. On a Friday night the place is swarmed with teeny boppers. The whole plaza was like a high school. Little gits everywhere. :)

I really don’t know why this place got such negative reviews. First off, the service was great. Yes, you do need to order at the counter, but they bring it out to you. We did not go on such a crowded night, but the place was still packed. Our food came out very quick and all of the staff was friendly. They were also very accommodating for the picky bunch I was with. Next, the burgers were great. Everyone was very happy with theirs. I got the Shula burger and the meat was to die for and the bun was excellent too. I also got the baby green salad which was delicious. I would highly recommend both. I had also a few sweet potato tots which were great. Everyone at my table was more than happy with their food. The prices were also phenomenal. I went with a group on a budget, so they were very happy with the bill. The prices were very fair, but it wasn’t cheap cheap and the food was definitely not cheap. It was worth every cent. The ONLY thing I could say negatively, which I would never take a star off for, is that I did notice a few tables that were not cleaned off right away and there was garbage and stuff left at tables. But, they were busy and no one was sitting there. Overall, this place is great for people of any age. Almost anyone can find something to eat here.

Last Saturday, I was shopping in the plaza. I wanted to find a place to grab food and go. I figured that I would try something new, and check this place out. I walked inside, and the first thing I noticed was the massive chocolate chip cookie. Massive really does not even describe this cookie. It was larger than my head, and the chocolate chips were like the size of quarters. Unfortunately, I am back on a diet(this week), so I did not try it this time. Okay. Let me get back on track. I walked in and headed towards the cash register, where you order food. I checked out the menu, and noticed that they have a veggie burger. The cashier told me that I could actually order any item on the menu, and they would replace it with a veggie burger. I decided on the create-your-own burger. I ordered the veggie burger on multi-grain bread with balsamic lettuce, cheese, ketchup and pickles. My boyfriend had the California burger(with beef). We both were very impressed with the burgers. I found my burger to be delicious. I also asked to make sure that our burgers were in separate bags. They did just as I asked. Overall, I was very pleased with the service and food. I’ll definitely come back.
