Overpriced poor quality food. The scallops were tasteless, very small portion. The crab cakes were not any better. I could not believe how horrible the food was, and then on top of it, we were still hungry after since portions were so small. STAYAWAY!

Simple! Elegant! Lobster roll and steamers! Best bang for your buck on the cape! Older lady who runs the place is a sweetheart… been coming here 3 summers in a row just for the roll! Usually stop In around 1 pm grab a cold beer and steamers at the bar and bring back a few lobster rolls for take out and eat at the beach! So sad that summer 2015 is ovahhhhh!!! Meet me at the shoe for a few in ’16!

Lobster roll was great. Clambake was disappointing. Steamers sandy and lobster chewy and tasteless. Bad night? Last year was good. That’s why we came back. Not sure about next year!

Are at the Wooden Shoe again last night. I had an amazing lobster roll and my wife had the clambake. Beer was very cold and very reasonably priced. We went early and had our favorite waitress, Katie. Great meal in a casual environment.

We stopped here for lobster rolls when the beach got too hot. The woman who took our order was helpful and friendly and the lobster rolls were huge and some of the best we have ever had. Additionally I ordered a mud slide while we were waiting and it would put hair on your chest! It tasted great and she wasn’t stingy with the alcohol! Highly suggest if you’re in the area!

Not fancy, corn is over cooked. But Lobster was excellent, the steamers scrumptious and the wait staff amazingly charming and kind. Great prices, simple menu, cash only.

Chowder is just as awesome as always! I have to get my clambake at least once a summer for it to officially feel like summer. Tons of steamers, fresh lobster, corn on the cob and coleslaw. My mom’s lobster roll was HUGE! So flavorful with huge chunks of lobster. Just a smidge of mayo. And clearly everything paired with a PBR. Love this place!

The wooden shoe is still my favorite cape cod seafood spot. Ice cold beer: $ 2 PBRs and some local cape cod brews on tap. Had some frozen drinks the other night, the mudslides are delicious and well priced. Food is still as good as ever, they have a whole variety of Caesar salads now with different options for toppers such as chicken, steak tips and scallops, even some lobster salad! Lobster rolls are huge, bucket of steamers are delicious, sweet and have no sand. Every time I come I have to get something different because everything is so good. It’s comfy and cozy inside with that«Cape Cod» feel.

The hugest lobster roll I have ever seen in my life. So much heaping lobster, I had to attack it with a fork first. I couldn’t even finish it. Excellent home made chowder. Country little spot with a great waitress.

I’ve driven by the Wooden Shoe for the past 10 years and finally went and tried it. I wish I had just kept on going. It was over priced for what came with the meal. A $ 22 lobster roll and they give a bag of chips for a side. The clam chowder was like paste. Very, very thick and not a lot of clams. The waitress was the best thing about the meal. The place has no atmosphere and no ventilation. The Wooden Shoe needs at least a metal fan.

The atmosphere is typical of your local watering hole, simple and inviting. They only take cash but have an ATM on site. I wouldn’t say its a very family friendly place but you can tell they try to make it so. It feels like 80% bar and 20% restaurant. The seafood is good but in my opinion kind of pricey for a family. If your going out with just adults and looking for some steamers and few beers then your OK.

I give this place 4 stars based on the Lobster roll alone… it is all we had. I am always leery of $ 20 sandwiches, but this lobster roll was large and tasty. No frills, cold beer, nice people!

We look forward to coming here when we are in the Cape. No frills kinds place with one of the best lobster rolls you’ll ever have. Start with a big ol bowl of steamers too. Mmm.

One star just to get your attention. Although Unilocal says it is open I think it is closed for the season. I have been calling all week and nobody answers the phone.

While I will say that my lobster roll was enormous and tasty, the atmosphere was not ideal. Kids options were really poor. The mac and cheese was your typical boxed type that was obviously reheated in a microwave. Drunk guys at the bar. Would consider take out next time but only for the lobster rolls.

Okay, yes the lobster roll is overflowing, but quantity does not make up for quality. It’s tasted flat, bland and served with a bag of Lays and a plastic container of so-so coleslaw. A slice of lemon on the side would have solved the flatness, but at $ 19 that’s no value. Server was friendly and service was quick and timely. Décor is cute, typical cape cod — cleaner than many. Ordered chowder, wings, steak tips, lobster rolls and crab cakes. Chowder was excellent. Thick, good flavor and a nice hint of thyme. We were excited for the rest of the meal All downhill from there. Wings small and pathetic looking. Had a tasty sauce(probably classic Franks), but not deep fried so skin was rubbery. Steak tips were overcooked, crab cakes mediocre and and covered in a bland sauce. Corn on the cob was not shucked, so you had to put off last two layers and all the silk. It has been pre-cooked and probably kept on a steam table, so it picked up the grassy flavor of the leaves. There are NO kid options — so be prepared to pay. Unilocal says it excepts credit cards, but everywhere says cash only. The server kept pitching the low drink prices compared to other bars. Drinks may be cheaper here than other places nearby, but the food is so-so. We would go back and split a take out lobster rolls for the beach and ask for some lemon slices.

Terrific from start to finish. Place is super clean and bright. Service is excellent. They only take cash so build in a solid 20% tip because you will need it. Menu is straightforward – lobster, quahogs, chowdah, steamers. Market price the night we were there was $ 18.95/lb and my lobster was packed with meat. My husband got the clambake and was so full he couldn’t eat the corn. If we come back to the Cape this place is a definite stop. Also, try the Beached Blonde IPA. Fantastic.

What a find! This place had 1st rate seafood for 3rd rate prices. Very casual atmosphere and super friendly staff. The clam chowder is the best I’ve ever had, and I’ve had a lot of clam chowder. Be warned, they only take cash. We would have sampled their reasonably priced specialty drink menu, but only had enough cash for a seafood feast.

The wooden shoe is definitely a local’s delight! A bit of a hole in the wall, don’t expect anything fancy from this joint. The menu is simple(y) delightful! By that I mean, great options and value for seafood lovers but not much to choose from otherwise. My vegetarian sister-in-law couldn’t really eat anything except a bed of lettuce. But me, lobster rolls– yes please!

We were staying in Dennis Port for the weekend, and the first night, we wandered around looking for some food. We eventually stumbled upon The Wooden Shoe, and we almost didn’t eat here because it’s cash only. We counted our cash in the parking lot(we’re classy) and decided we would go for it– and we were so glad we did! There was 7 of us, and there were only two big tables. Both had people sitting in them, but about to finish up, so we waited for a table. We eventually got a round corner booth after about 5 – 10 minutes. Our waiter was really friendly, and while he was occasionally forgetful, he was really funny about it so we didn’t mind. The inside décor went with the outside– not fancy, but what you’d expect at a limited menu, seafood-focused place on the Cape. I ordered a cup of clam chowder($ 4.75) and a lobster roll. I forget the exact cost of the lobster roll, but their specials and«market price» items ran about $ 14 – 20. We also got some pitchers of beer– they have a small but decent selection of bottles and drafts, and also a full bar. Other people at our table ordered steamers, lobster bisque($ 5), and whole lobsters. My clam chowder was really tasty and I couldn’t stop eating it. I didn’t try the lobster bisque, but it also got rave reviews from people at the table. By the end, there seriously wasn’t an empty bowl on the table. When my lobster roll came, it was on a hot dog bun– love– and literally overflowing with delicious lobster. I’ve had a LOT of lobster rolls– I’d say this one made the top 5 or 7, and was prepared just the way I like it. If we go back to Dennis Port, we will definitely be going back to The Wooden Shoe. We had a blast drinking delicious beer and eating delicious food. The waiter was a lot of fun as well. If you’re in the area and craving seafood, I strongly suggest coming here! If they accepted credit cards, this place would definitely be 5 stars.
