This is, without a doubt, the best bar in Denton. The staff is always extremely knowledgeable, friendly, nice, and professional. There is an insane amount of craft(and local) beer and whiskey. I hardy go anywhere else.

Great to place to catch up with friends over a drink. There is a decent amount of space inside, but the back beer garden is large, and a bit classier I think than that over at Oak St Drafthouse(although you can’t really go wrong there either). Here the draft list is even larger and you have to order by number. They have nice large electronic lists showing all the varieties, but sometimes on weekends they do run out. They also allow dogs in the beer garden, and it seems this is where all the socialites with dogs bring them, probably saw 1 per table. And right outside the back beer garden are some food trucks, because sometimes you just have drunk munchies and need them quenched asap. Everything about East Side is great, right up there with OSDH as the top place to go drink socially. I had the Revolver Blood and Honey, a solid golden ale brewed with wheat, and it had a hint of honey, but not the orange zest mentioned on Revolver’s website. Good and I would recommend it, and East Side.

Came here to celebrate christmas with some friends. They’re open on christmas. They offer a rather low key bar. Their menu for beers on tap is massive! Some of my favorites were the jaberwonk(IBU114) ipa, and the Noël Jolly pumpkin from Michigan. If you’re not a beer enthusiast they offer lots of top shelf liquor as well that can be hard to find; at least what my friend had told me. Overall, the bartenders here are excellent. They were all very friendly and quick to help out. They have an awesome patio here in which dogs are welcome! Probably on leash though. I know this from seeing a dog hanging out with it’s owner there as well. On Christmas, the bar was an eccletic mix. They offer some large screen tv’s near the bar to catch up on your Sportscenter highlights, etc while hanging out. Their darts board is some of the better dart boards i’ve got to play with around denton. The actual darts are a little cheap though. So if you must bring your own darts! To get the darts you have to keep your Id for collateral.

This is probably my favorite spot in Denton. I’m always torn between this and the sister bar, Oak St. Draft House. East Side has an awesome patio, both covered and not. And it backs up to the Denton food truck park. Inside, you’ll find all the craft beer you could ever want, as well as liquor, if you’re in the mood. This is my go to spot! You should check it out.

Nice pub with good selection of beers and some on nitro. Really great Bloody Mary’s and I’m not a huge fan of this drink. Nice out door patio area; good location to enjoy Denton downtown area. Parking is somewhat of an issue on the weekends but that’s part of the charm of the downtown area is walking around. The bartenders are knowledgable, quick and friendly.

89BEERSONTAP! Best bar in Denton(besides Oak St. Drafthouse down the street.) The staff is incredible, the atmosphere is incomparable, the people are phenomenal and the beer is great. They also have an extensive bourbon and whiskey menu, TVs, patio, a huge beer garden, food trucks every night, darts, etc. If you are in Denton it’s a must see.

East Side’s bartenders put all other bartenders to shame. They’re super friendly and helpful but most of all they are efficient and I’ve never had to wait long to get a drink or service even when it is completely packed. Seriously, they are amazing. And even for a ‘beer bar’ you can still get a decent cocktail made. The other thing amazing here is the beer and whiskey selection. 100 taps of pure nectar and too many bottles of whiskey to count. They also frequently have special tappings, parties, and etc. which help keep everything fresh. There is a focus on Texas and local breweries as well which is really great. Behind the bar is an amazing patio and the Austin St. Food Truck spot, putting East Side in the best location in Denton, and making it my favorite bar.

Every drink the other day was perfect. Bartenders were nice, even though the place was crowded. Can’t complain!

It is indeed a great getaway from the traditional college bars. Had an AWESOME gin and tonic made with their very own homemade tonic! Will definitely return! Bartender was very knowledgeable and helpful with choosing a spirit.

Being in my mid-thirties and a bit on the heavier side, it’s not always fun going to a bar in a college town, but they have never made me feel out of place! They have a great selection of beer and a big back patio area to hang out on. Great place to go and relax and enjoy the nice weather when we have it.

After a long day working in a strange town, this place hit the spot. Drinks selection was diverse without being weird and the crowd while slightly upscale hip was welcoming. Came back the second night and wish they had one back here in Charlotte

Cool place to hang out and chill with friends and chat. Nice outdoor seating area. Inside gets crowded and is small. Lots of beer options.

82 different beers, ciders, etc on tap! Mostly local brews from the area and around Texas. Cozy patio atmosphere with an eclectic array of people. It also has a food truck park right next to the patio/outside seating that is easily accessible incase you get the urge to have a bite. Very nice way to socialize and try something new. Great place!

Do you like beer? Like, a lot of beer? Then look no further, you’ve found your favorite destination spot! I’ve been to plenty of pubs/bars that offer tons of draft beer selections, but most of the time I feel frustrated due to the fact of being pushed to decide quickly between all the options. At Eastside, their huge menu selection is located in the middle of the bar. So whether it’s your first beer of the day… or your tenth? Oh god, have I already had 10 beers? No, no, surely not… anyways, you can select from their vast menu ANDTHEN let the bartender know your decision. Although there aren’t servers, the bar appears to stay open enough to serve you quickly. Beer is ordered by the number. So look at the board, decide what you fancy, then order the number. A typical order may consist of «give me a #4, 2 #17s, and a neat Bonfire». Bonfire you ask? Oh right, they also have an extensive list of whiskey and bourbon selections. Beer.Bourbon.Whiskey. I’m sorry, have I died and gone to heaven? Yes, yes, I must have.

So there are a couple of spots in Denton where I like to drink… and if it’s not in some deep dark musty dungeon corner… then this is one of the best spots. Pick from one of a billion choices and enjoy, or if you don’t know ask the bartender what cha feelin like. Since I love outdoors eating and drinking this hits right at home. Hell even get your corn hole on:-D and by that I mean throwing sacs in a hole… and by that I mean bean bags… oh and dont forget if you want some grub when the munchies come and hit ya. they have food trucks in the back

If you are looking for an amazing selection of beer, micro brews, cider, etc… This is your place! Not only do they have around 90 brews to choose from, they are constantly rotating new beers into the menu. Usually when I am there, I have to spend a few minutes looking over all the choices before I can zone in on the beer of my choice. They have great prices for their pints and they have an awesome wall collection of what each beer’s tap looks like if it were on the draft line. If you are into whiskey, no other place to go but here as well. I believe there are over 100 different types of whiskey they offer here(at a great price as well) and you are bound to have a great time here. They have a fantastic indoor lounge area with a good amount of seats and plenty of TVs to go around. Their outside is awesome! Tons of outdoor seating, there are also TVs outside as well, and you can’t beat having a chilled brew, hanging out with friends, on a warm summer night in Denton. This is usually my go to place when friends/family come into town as well as my favorite watering hole. Love this place!

I came here for my 20 year reunion. It was extremely packed, but the bartenders and the wait staff were able to keep up with the high demand. I’m more of a wine drinker and the selection for wines were very limited, so they were very helpful in helping me selecting a beer. I think the really cool thing is the food trucks behind the building. There are many choices with pizza, sandwiches, Thai, and tacos. It was fun going to the different trucks and trying a little from each one. All the choices were yummy! It is different concept and it was a fun evening!

This place was really cool. They have an unbelievable selection of beers. Beers from all over the world that you have never heard of. And all on tap. It’s quite an impressive display of taps that you just have to see. Check out Justin W’s pic on Unilocal. Came here with a bunch of friends to watch the NBA playoffs. They have a HUGE open yard/patio with a bunch of picnic tables outside where you can sit and watch big huge TV’s that are located up by the wall of the bar. It’s almost like a modern day unique drive in theater experience, except you are drinking beer and watching sports. Usually packed with lots of happy people. Great time. Hope to be back soon.

Pet-friendly, spacious patio with outdoor seating and televisions… Sure, the selection of booze is impressive and reasonably priced, but these days, I’m far more likely to enjoy a good patio as much as a good brew. This place is identical to Oak Street Drafthouse in terms of outdoor seating. Clientele is slightly older, and has fewer undergraduates running amuck. Also, less broody hipsters and more diverse of a crowd. Granted, I have a soft spot for hipsters.

I love a good beer and I love trying new ones. Anyone who lives in Denton knows about the Oak Street Draft House. East Side is it’s brand new little sister bar just down the street. Similar philosophy but different attitiude. Where as OSDH&CP is about the retro old school charm of the 1890’s house with mismatched chairs, and tables and eclectic music being pumped throughout, ESSC is more of a sports bar with Flatscreen TVs, a 15 foot(?) mesquite wood topped bar with lots of copper and taps galore. ESSC is about a really nice porch with booths and an upper area with wicker seats and a large beer garden area with red umbrellas an two giant flat screens primed for football or any other sports viewings. Cornhole on the side and darts on the inside and an amazing display of all of the taps. OSDH&CP has this great hand-written list of all the beers on tap. ESSC has a vertical computer display of all it’s beers listing the alcohol content and where the beer is from. ESSC also has one other big focus. Texas whiskey and bourbon. After a really nice pretzel stout from Martin House(Texas beer), and the various drinks my friends all tried, we switched it up and all of us discovered TX Whiskey from Fort Worth. The bartender and one of the part owners turned us on to it. First off, at both bars the guys behind the bar are all beer lovers and know what to recommend. Trust them. As for their whiskey prowess? They did well there too. The TX Whiskey had alot of vanilla notes to it and being that I had it with a splash of water and an ice cube, I have a new way to appreciate some good spirits. My friends all had it with Coke and they all agreed that it tasted like a cream soda. ESSC is a welcome addition to the east side of the Denton square and I’m sure both ESSC and it’s big brother OSDH&CP will continue to have great success because of their uniqueness and what they bring to the community. John had a great idea and him an his friends were able to put together two great places to relax and enjoy yourself. Support Denton businesses! Especially these places.
