I’ve gone out of my way a couple times to eat here. The sandwich is good and plentiful. The bread is flaky on the outside, warm and soft on the inside. All the flavors I want are present. The pickled carrots(duh), the fresh jalepenos, cilantro etc etc. Bahn mi enthusiasts get it. This place is great — I just can’t get over that hefty price tag for a bahn mi. Before I even knew that this food truck existed, a bahn mi has never cost me more than $ 4. But yet, I’m being charged $ 8 for just a sandwich. No chips included, no drink either. :/ Gentrification of vietnamese food much?!

I LOVETHEPICKLEDCARROT!!! I always get tofu banh mi and it is ALWAYS delicious. I want them to open a legit restaurant so bad. The only downside is their hours/days open are weird. But I will put up with it because I love them so much

I think this is the best Bahn Mi I’ve ever had. I stumbled upon this place at East Side Denton, and decided to try it out. I got the chicken bahn mi with everything on it. Every ingredient was fresh. There was some sort of really good sauce, but maybe it was mayo/siracha? Whatever it was, it made it even more enjoyable. Impressive sandwich, highly recommended!

Amazing pork bahn mi. These guys are badass. $ 1 off if you get drink and chips. Try the cucumber lemonade or the Vietnamese iced coffee. Worth hunting them down wherever they are. Often parked behind east side social club

I’ve been a fan of The Pickled Carrot for a few years now. I stumbled across them at the community market one Saturday and had my first bahn mi ever, it was life changing. My husband and I loved them so much and visited them so often over the next few months to a year that we had them cater our rehearsal dinner. It was a huge hit! We had quite a few people that were less adventurous than my husband and I, and some even verbalized their worry that people wouldn’t like it, but we were in wedding plan mode and didn’t really care what everyone else thought at that point. :) And surprised! Everyone LOVED it! My personal favorite is the tofu sandwich(and no cilantro for me), my husband loves every type they have with meat. It’s the perfect combination of flavors and textures. They’re a Denton staple.

Pork bahn mi, extra meat for only $ 1. Worth every dadgum finger lickin’ penny! If you haven’t had banh mi before, the smell may be slightly off-putting, but believe me, it’s worth a try. Pickled Carrot has the best I’ve had, too, with tender and well-marinated meat without the fat. Their bread is always fresh and crispy and their veggies have the perfect crunch and kick of flavor, too. Whatever sauce they put on the banh mi specifically makes it extra amazing. I’ve tried the salad and rice bowl before, and while still absolutely delicious and some of the best food in Denton, the sandwich is where it’s at. The wait can get quite long during busy times, but you can text in your order ahead of time and grab a beer at The Bearded Monk or East Side while waiting. I’d recommend getting a growler from the Monk, take the food, and go and enjoy a lovely evening on the square. Casual date night done! Be sure to get a punch card… because once you’ve had one, you’ll be hooked and will welcome the freebies to help balance your new Vietnamese food addiction. To properly stalk this food truck from heaven, you can check their hours and unexpected closings on their Facebook, which they’re good about keeping updated during bad weather. Hoorah for The Pickled Carrot! Best sandwich in Denton, and from a food truck no less!

The guys working the truck are always friendly, efficient, and making awesome food! The Bahn Mi sandwiches are to die for! Noodle bowls and limeade are also very good. Definitely a must try if you’re at the food truck stop.

Awesome salads! I would recommend extra mushrooms/extra meat and a cucumber limeade to top it off…

I ordered the noodle bowl since the bread here does contain butter. Props to the employees for knowing what ‘Vegan’ means! That’s doesn’t happen often. If you’re not a fan of too much spice, order the noodle bowl with tofu, sans sriracha and jalapeños, with the soy vinaigrette! The flavors are really amazing and can’t be described in a review. Here’s to hoping that one day they’ll have vegan bread so I can try the sandwich! Overall, The Pickled Carrot is a great food truck!

This is my favorite food truck that meets at Austin Street by far! I adore the pork Bahn Mi, but the pork noodle bowl is my favorite meal. I usually ask for extra cilantro. The Vietnamese coffee is also on point. A noodle bowl and coffee is the perfect meal– it’s just enough to feel full but not over the top.

I was at the Farmers Market and these two guys had their food truck parked there. I wanted something different and so «Vietnamese Sandwich» sounded just right. I had the pork Banh Mi and it was completely awesome! Flavor profile was terrific and the crunch from the carrots was perfect. Crusty bread that soaked up the awesome sauce(pun intended) just made this one heck of a good sandwich. Next time I see them, I’m trying the noodle bowl. Saw a girl eating one and it looks great too.

Favorite food truck in Denton by far! I love their noodle bowl with pork & cucumber limeade– & just a little tip: order extra meat! It’s definitely worth the extra $ 1.00!

The wonderful things you’ve heard about The Pickled Carrot are true! And I was more than pleased to find that out for myself. I first saw/heard of TPC when I was at Eastside one Friday night. Unfortunately, by the time I worked up an appetite, they were sold out of almost everything(except salad). I’m sure the salad is great, but I really wanted to hold out for the noodle bowl or bahn mi sandwich. Anywayyyys, a few weeks later, I once again found myself at Eastside wanting some grub, so The Pickled Carrot it was. They were out of all meat except the pork, so my husband and I got the pork noodle bowl and the pork bahn mi so we could try both. I am SO glad we did! Both were amazing! The pork was nicely marinated and tender. Veggies in the noodle bowl were fresh & crisp. If I HAD to choose just one, I’d go with the bahn mi. The bread was toasted perfectly and it also had this really yummy sauce on it. We also ordered their pork & shrimp spring rolls. They were pretty tasty, but also pretty small. I expected bigger ones since they were $ 4 for 3. Overall, I enjoyed my experience at The Pickled Carrot & will definitely be back. Only reason for the 4 stars is the fact that they have been out of a lot of items the two times that I’ve visited(both times were still fairly early in the night), and for the prices. Main selections are all $ 8, which is a bit steep in my opinion. BUT everything seems to be made-to-order and super fresh, so I won’t complain too much! Give this place a try, for sure! If you’re not in to eating from food trucks(??), this will absolutely change your mind!

Banh mi? Banh my God this is the best sandwich EVER! I’ve had several banh mi’s in my life, but this one tops the list– perfectly toasted baguette, absolutely loaded with the most flavorful, savory, melt-in-your-mouth pork I’ve ever had. Sandwich is huge– I’d recommend splitting one with a friend. Food was ready in about 10 mins, was fresh and hot. I wish I was closer to Denton– I’d come here all the time. The Pickled Carrot was truly a treat. A banh mi you will never forget.

By far, this is my favorite food truck in Denton. The grilled pork banh mi is the only sandwich worth eating, full of fresh veggies and the unique BBQ style of grilled pork. The pork is also good in the cold noodle salad or get tofu if you’re not craving some meat! They recently started making phở and so conveniently parked, at times, outside of East Side so you can walk over and within 15 minutes have your food in hand to walk back! The phở is beef and by the time you get back in, the rare steak is cooked properly. The broth is good too! Just ask for light noodles or the noodles soak up all the delicious broth. It comes with the proper additions of bean sprouts, Vietnamese basil, cilantro & jalapenos. So good! Thanks for offering a healthier alternative to the Austin Street Truck Stop! Keep on doing what you do PC and creating those raving fans of good Vietnamese food :)

I love this place! So happy they have more hours now. I usually get the tofu bành mi but the noodle bowls are really good too. I still need to try the salads but I almost always go back to the bành mi. In addition to the great food, Cuong and everyone else I’ve met who works here are really nice and offer everyone a stamp card so you can get a free meal after your 10th purchase. People should keep in mind that this is a food truck so don’t expect a fancy place to sit down(although there are some tables and East Side!) and be willing to wait(usually no more than 20 minutes) for your food.
