Still here in fact, we may never leave. We love authentic and clean. Taco Rico is that and has excellent customer service. Family owned. They have the best sauces including a habanero. And… Meat by the pound to take home includes tortillas, limes and cilantro!!! Here for breakfast but they serve their entire menu ALL Day!!!

This place is amazing. I’ve read some of the other reviews, and I honestly think that the people who were less than thrilled with this place either just had a single bad experience, or aren’t used to real, authentic Mexican food. I grew up near Fair Park in Dallas, and had a lot of Latino neighbors. The food here is like what I grew up eating, it’s like what I’ve had in small barrio restaurants, and it’s like what I’ve had in Mexico when not traveling to tourist destinations. The thin beef is called a milanesa, and it’s what it is supposed to be, and quite tasty. I’m not a big sandwich person, but will take pieces of the steak milanesa, put them in tortillas with some beans and salsa and it’s awesome. We went there the other night for the first time, and then again this morning to try their breakfast tacos. They were delicious, especially the chorizo. The other night, I had a bowl of the menudo, just to try it. I hate caned menudo, which some small places use, but this was made there, and delicious; and if the idea of tripe has put you off trying it other places, seriously try it here. They do it perfectly! The staff is all really friendly. One person commented that they weren’t around all of the time. I’ll repeat, this is a taqueria style restaurant, as in very traditional to the style of food, and that goes to the service. I never had any trouble getting what I wanted, or felt a lack of help from the staff when I wanted something, but they weren’t hovering over me. If you want to be rushed through your meal and out the door, and have American style Mexican food, go to El Fenix. If you want The Good Stuff, and maybe an episode of a telenovela, then come here. El Taco Rico is great. As a side note, I’m not really a salsa verde person, usually, but there’s is amazing. I love the red, too, making it a tough pick. I may start pretending that I’m in New Mexico, and go Christmas. I can’t wait to try their mole when we go back this weekend for breakfast with friends. If it’s like my mother’s, I’ll cry. Just sayin’.

Good service. Great food. This is the hole in the wall you’ve been looking for. Very attentive even for being Christmas weekend. Answered all our questions and were polite. There are only a few tables here but worth the wait. We actually called in our order ahead of time and took it to go.

I tried the menudo and the breaded/fried beef Torta*. The torta is huge and it is the first time I’ve tasted bean paste/beans on a sandwich… it was good! It had lettuce, avocado, onion, and tomato. The beef was a little chewy, and there wasn’t as much of it as I think that goliath of a sandwich called for. The menudo wasn’t my thing… I wanted to love it, but I didn’t. The microvilli on the pork… it was tough to enjoy knowing its function. The flavor was bland too… even after adding the onions, cilantro, and lime… I spiced it up with salt and tabasco. Jose was a charmer, and I loved him instantly. I might venture back to try something else just because of him.

El Taco Rico at 107 N. Loop 288 in Denton, TX refused to accept an entertainment book offer. The owner who the cashier called for help said they never authorized Entertainment Book to publish deals for their business. A pic of the deal is attached. I have a hard time believing they didn’t authorize the advertising. I think they just changed their mind after the ad was already published. The waitress was nice, service was ok, but not great. The a/c was not on when we entered the restaurant. In the summer in Texas, you need a/c. We were seated at the entry to the restaurant, which was awkward. The food was awful. The chilaquiles were just soggy chips covered with mainly green sauce. It was not anything like the chilaquiles I’ve had at other restaurants. The refried beans tasted like they came from a can.

Small hole in a wall between a donut store and a sonic. Prices are decent, though you get what you paid for, so don’t expect much. Staff are nice, but you don’t see much of them. The food left me feeling g like I messed up my order, but no when I ordered the steak tacos it was a make it your self meal with the steak being an extremely thin piece of meat that needed to be cut. The rice was almost flavorless and the salad was just some lettuce with a piece of avocado on top. Not sure if I’ll give it another go.

I went with my… Hmm I guess future girlfriend, idk we’ve been seeing each other, call it what you will. We stopped in to see what this place was about and were greeted by a man at the front counter. Decided to eat there and took a few minutes to look over the menu and I decided to have the lenguas sandwich, while future girlfriend had chicken enchiladas. My sandwich was huge, it was bigger than my face and I’ve got a pretty big face. Everything was hot and fresh and we were extremely happy with the service, atmosphere, and authenticity. This is not tex-mex, its authentic Mexican cuisine that is a very rare find in the area.

I never give 5 stars, but should consider it due to how yummy and traditional the food is here. My favorite are the breakfast and street tacos! The Menudo is great for hangovers

Great price and good food. It’s right around the corner from me, and I was pleasantly surprised when I finally decided to try it. The pork tacos are a go-to.

Dayum. The menu is different. The food is different. We had to ask for chips and silverware and they gave us this tiny basket half full with a bowl of half full salsa for the four of us. They stated they could not make a cheese sauce for the kids enchilada. What??? And the place was nearly empty. This leads me to believe there are new owners. I’m sad.

A coworker and I were in town for a job fair at UNT and found El Taco Rico on Unilocal. The waiter was extremely helpful in explaining the dishes on the menu that we had questions about. She had the tostadas with steak and said they were great. I had the Bistek Mexicana and it was awesome! All of the sauces were delicious. I would definitely return if I’m in the area again!

Such an awesome place! You won’t be let down. They have tons of options that other taqueria/Mexican restaurants in town don’t have(or seem to always run out of) like sopes, pambazos, pozole, mole enchiladas, and menudo(all the time instead of just weekends). I tried the pambazo sandwich and chicken sopes and I can’t wait to go back sometime to try some more stuff. The prices are very reasonable and the service is great too. Our server talked to us for a while and helped us figure out what to get. Overall the food is amazing and makes you feel like you’re in Mexico! Update: get chicken mole enchiladas — you will be SO happy.

My first torda pastor was a revelation. The marinated pork was tender, juicy, and generously portioned on a sandwich loaded with many of my favorite things: avocado, jalepenos, lettuce, tomato, and onion. Everything was fresh, especially the bread, which was lightly grilled. This was a great sandwich. Another pleasant surprise was the outstanding service. One of the owners met me at the door and recognized I was a first timer. He gave me a menu and orientation to the modest but clean dining room. My lunch came quickly and the price was more than fair. Taco Rico rewards the short drive to 288.

I was in a rush, so I got mine to go, but even without a/c I would have stayed to eat here if I had time. The inside is small and cramped, but this is a hardcore family owned little joint. Grandma is waiting on the guests and son is too. I loved seeing this! I got 12 street tacos. 3 of each kind — pastor, pollo, carnitas & barbacoa. They were all amazing, perfectly sized street tacos as authentic as they come here in tex-mex country. Loaded with cilantro and onion and fillings stuffed into pillowy soft corn tortillas. All the meats were tender and flavored perfectly! The prices are outstanding and the service was very friendly. This place is truly a diamond in the rough, just waiting for gringos to discover it. I was the only white person in the building, the entire time I waited for my order. Please, please try this place people! You will not regret it one bit!

I already know this place is legit, when there’s not a single American eating here during peak lunch hours. It’s always a good sign that it’s authentic and I wasn’t disappointed. This place has one of the best Street tacos. This place gets it, great service, cheap, fast, and good. Enjoy.
