Papusas are banging with slaw and salsa. Great value. Side of potato, pea, carrot in mayo is yummy. Nice owner. Guad is a good change of pace. Fried fish is a WHOLE fish. Check this place out.

Papusas are really great. It’s also one of the few(if not the only place) in Denton to find mojarra.

Intensely delicious but quite slow. Don’t go for a quick lunch. We were the only customers waiting and it took 40 min to get two dishes. Guatemalan fare it seems and décor to match. Knowing some Spanish will help you here.

Never having been in Denton before, decided to try this little storefront restaurant based on glowing reviews. It delivers! The owner and his family are so welcoming, very helpful despite limited English, and wow! the food is fantastic! Definitely order the papusas, both the spinach and pollo were wonderful. The tamales were fresh and flavorful. The Pollo Crema was an excellent dinner, bit to tell you the truth, I wish I had gone with a papusa of every type. Give this little eatery a try and support a small family business, it will not disappoint.

This little restaurant has some of the best food that I have ever had. I find myself craving it at least every other week! You have to try their Papusas. They are delicious and flavorful. We also always get a tostada. They are pretty simple but so good. We finish with the fried plantain plate. They are sweet and perfectly cooked. They are thinker plantains than other places so have great plantain flavor. Something about their rice and beans are just delicious. These are usually simple sides, but they season and cook them to perfection. Lastly is something that they call a salad. It comes in a big bowl and it’s great on top of the Papusas and tostadas. They also have two sauces on the tables that go perfectly with everything. The restaurant is a hole in the wall. From the outside you may not be interested in going in, but you will be very happy you did. The prices are great. We get an entire meal for super cheap. The owner is always there taking orders. He doesn’t speak great English but is super nice and tries to explain what all the dishes are. You can tell he cares about the food. You can tell everything is homemade and this is what I imagine eating in Guatemala would be like. We will continue to go to Guatalinda. It’s so delicious.

Came back the next week and ordered the platanos con crema plate to go. The portions were small, especially considering it’s, you know, rice, beans and bananas, but for $ 5.50 it was reasonable. They were good but not out of this world. I also had chicken tamales, which WERE out of this world, and a pork pache — pork in seasoned mashed potatos in a banana leaf — also very, very good. Tried the loroco pupusa — flower blossoms and cheese. It did not have a bold flavor and the texture was a lot like spinach but it’s cool to eat flowers once in a while because why not? It takes about 10 – 15 minutes to get your food because they don’t make it in advance. Guatelinda Café is a special place with great food. I’d go straight for the tamales — wonderful, huge and $ 2.50.

We first tried this little restaurant because I wanted to try something new in Denton. My wife was skeptical and did not want to go. We tried the papusas and got this cabbage salad. We had the chicken papusas with cabbage salad on the side. The food was delicious! My wife is hooked, I’m hooked and we find ourselves going once a week. The prices are wonderful and won’t break your wallet. Try this restaurant, and you won’t regret it. Don’t forget to try the chicken papusas, they are made from scratch. Love this!

The food here is amazing! Cooked fresh, as well as a nice clean restaurant. I’ve been there twice, and would highly recommend their pupusas, as well as the frijoles.

This place is 100% authentic. Their papusas are out of this world and their Tuesday and Friday lunch specials for $ 5.99 warrant this as a must visit in the Denton area. If you’re a foodie and want a new experience this place is for you.

Yum! Great little hole in the wall. Great prices and delicious food. There are lots of veggie options. Had a bean and guacamole tostada, bean papusa, the veggie tostada, and the plantains. Also, the salad they give you at your table is great. Service was friendly! Will definitely be back at this place!

One of the best restaurants in Denton in my opinion. Hole in the wall place ran by the nicest people and serves authentic food. Pupusas are delicious have the chicarron(pork) & cheese ones… I assure it wont disappoint. I had a hard time venturing off from my go to orders because they’re so great but finally did. The tostadas are home made and sooo delicious. Tried the chicken and cream and it was so good I cleaned my plate. It is served with simple white rice that compliments the chicken and a potato salad. The enchiladas guate are nothing like the Mexican ones or tex mex ones some may be used to. They consist of a fried tortilla aka tostada topped with pickled beets and veggies mix. You can add meat or skip it either way it’s good. It’s very fresh and prefect for summer. The chichitos resemble chubby Mexican tamales and are made from masa and wrappes in corn husks. Very tasty! The tamales on the other hand are wrapped in banana leaves and tend to be bigger than chuchitos but just as tasty. Guatelinda opens early and serves breakfast. Their atoles are awesome especially when it is chilly outside. There is one plate in particular I think has the perfect harmony of flavor: the plantains with black beans and cream. Who would’ve guessed something so simple could be so good. I recently also tried their tamarind drink and it was quite refreshing. Also they have a chocolate cake with flan on top for dessert I recommend. Prices are very reasonable and food is very filling. Definitely recommend this restaurant.

I simply love this place! I found this little gem when I won a $ 50 restaurant certificate and unfortunately, it didn’t work with the restaurant but I decided to eat here anyways. GOODTHING I DID. I got the chicken and cream with tostadas and let me tell you… It was cooked with perfection. I will definitely be telling my friends about this place and continue to come here. I love this place. My girlfriend and I wandered in one night, and we will definitely keep going back. The restaurant appears to be owned by a cute old couple, and the man who takes the orders is really nice. The food is delicious as well. I’m in love with the cabbage that comes with the papusas, and the Carne Guisada dish is fantastic. My girlfriend ordered it both times we went.

Friendly genuine staff. I believe it’s family owned and operated. They really care about the food and service they provide to you. Variety of menu options but go there solely for the pupusas!!! Best in Denton and maybe the only place that hand makes them authenticity! They bring out picked cabbage and carrot to top them with!

Oh man, I don’t even know where to start for this one. By far, one of the coolest and most unique restaurants we have here in Denton! Very simple menu and a nice inviting atmosphere, but not too big. What really stands out is the excellent food. The best thing to get here and something to get every time is a plate of pupusas! Promise you won’t be disappointed no matter what kind you get. I’d say try some that are just cheese and some with meat. The prices are really fair here too considering how good the food is. Please, people of Denton, come here so they will stay in business! It’s a great place to eat, whether you’re trying something new or celebrating a type of food you love but haven’t been able to find in restaurants here before.

Another hidden gem in Denton. We loved this place. It seems the pupusa is THE dish to get here, which was recommended by a friendly customer, but we had already ordered. Awesome food,! Seems like everything is homemade/from scratch. Fried plantains were amazing. Very friendly staff.

Really liked the papusas. They were moist and had a lot of flavor. Had one with meat and one with bean and cheese. Both excellent and cheap and filling.(I didn’t finish the second, but it will make a good snack later!)

I love this place! Great options for vegetarian food and gluten free options too. I LOVE their homemade corn tortillas, beet/cauliflower/cabbage tostada(enchilada guate), bean and guacamole tostadas, beans and rice, rellenitos(fried plantains), loroco and bean pupusas with no cheese(sans queso) and cabbage slaw. Their salsas are to die for! Prices for the vegetarian items are low. WIsh I’d discovered it sooner!

A jewel in Denton.
