We eat here every week. The service is great and so is the food. I have yet to have anything that wasn’t good.

Good Mexican food in Denton. I had the traditional burrito with meat, cheese and beans. Good size and tasty! The prices are very reasonable and it’s a casual setting. There was no wait to be seated on a Friday night for dinner. The salsa was good, not a fan of the chips. The servers were very nice and food was fresh and fast! This place is kind of hidden I think and not originally being from Denton I would’ve probably have missed it if my boyfriend wasn’t actually taking us there. I’ll definitely be back to try other things!

The fajitas are ok; everything else is the lowest form of Tex-Mex imaginable. Also, they don’t tell you that they don’t have a full bar and the margaritas are made with wine, not tequila. Yuk.

Meh. I guess it’s «authentic» or something. My expectations were out of whack on Mazatlan. I figured that since it wasn’t a chain they might have some unique take on the food. I don’t know why I expected more. The«street» tacos were forgettable and the margarita was a mix. Typical Mexican beer selection. The server wasn’t interested either. Again, I probably just don’t get it.

Me and my husband come here when we’re craving Mexican food, they usually seat you right away, the waiters are so helpful and friendly they make sure you’re comfortable and that you always have a full drink. Their food is AMAZING the shredded beef chimichanga is to die for and my husband’s favorite are the chicken enchiladas with the spicy salsa verde sauce.

I used Unilocal and Trip Advisor to find this place and they did not steer me wrong. I’m visiting from California and did not think I’d find good Mexican food in Denton, Texas… I’m happy to say I was wrong! This place was probably the best Mexican food über ever had. I ordered a chicken/steak quesadilla and the meat was very flavorful and tender, I could tell they used quality meats! The beans and rice were also great, not overpowered with spices to try and change the taste. Our server(who ironically was also from California) was super friendly and gave great recommendations on what to order… Our food came out within about 5 minutes and was delicious!

Update: This little hole in the wall has a new paint job! I’ve been going here for 40 years and the food is consistently good! The street tacos and tostados are to die for but you should eat Mexican food with friends because it will run off your elbows. This has been a family owned and operated joint from the beginning, although I think it changed hands to different family members a few years ago. The food is delicious, the drinks are cold, the service is friendly, and the place is clean. What more could we ask? The food is comparable to that in the best joints in Zapata, Texas where I go every year to visit.(But the place is cleaner.) This I know for sure.

Really good Mexican food! You would think that there were many good Mexican restaurants in Denton… Well, not the type that I have tried. However, Mazatlan was; fresh, good, authentic, had great service, and was not Tex-Mex. I would recommend this place as good«Go-to» option when you feel the need to eat reliable prepared Mexican food. As a caveat I wanted to debunk the myth of this place catering to the pallets of «White people.» Anyone who has actually been to Mexico and spent time in the region where this type of food is from will know that it is genuine.

When I was at UNT I would come to this hole in the wall joint all the time. 3 years later, I still get a craving for this restaurant every time I’m in Denton. We made a reservation for 10 people at 9:30, not realizing it closed at 10, but everyone there was very nice and accommodating! They have an extensive margarita list(mango is my favorite). The food we ordered came out very quickly and it was all delicious and very affordable(less than $ 10 a plate). I highly recommend the chicken/beef flameado and the chicken feast, which is basically a sample of all their chicken dishes. Love this place and I will continue to stop by when I make it up to Denton.

This business is in the habit of flagging reviews so lets see how long this lasts… Mexican for white people, I get it. Denton is cheap, or spendthrift, not a lot of room in the price point for quality, I get it. But your rice freaking sucks. Your tortillas suck. Everything about the food, apart from the bacon flautas absolutely sucks. Free queso sounds great, but it sucks. Cheap is great, but only when it doesnt suck. If I was a wizard, I would cast a level 25 lightning bolt on this wretched contemptible hole and leave only a smoldering scorched patch of pavement behind to mark its existence. If I was a Mongolian warlord, I would drive my calvalry into you at a full gallop and scatter your walls to the edges of the earth. I would send my eagles upon you and laugh as they feasted on your entrails. If I was a giant squid, and you were near the ocean, I would flail my barnacle encrusted tenticles upon you, crushing your shitty bones as I brought you to my iron beak and feasted on the very memory of your shitty shitty food.

Am I allowed to leave a review that is just heart-eye emojis? Because that is my actual feeling about Mazatlan. My family has been eating here for a good 24 years, and we have always left happy. Besides having great food(try the chimichanga or flautas or fajita nachos or tacos al carbon — I could go on all night), they have incredibly personable service. They are great with kids and often come over to the table to help my father practice his Spanish. They’re usually super fast, but on the occasion they aren’t, they always make up for it with their good attitudes.

I love this place! The food is always fresh, the beer cold and the staff friendly and attentive. This is the best chicken and chorizo chili relleno I have ever had. Truly worth every bite. The family atmosphere is fun and there are generally some sports on the big screens. The food is also consistent from visit to visit over the years. Really a great neighborhood place to eat.

This is my go-to for Mexican food in Denton. The prices are pretty cheap for some really good food. Great staff as well and convenient for take out.

If I could give this place a million stars I would. I have never had such GREAT service and GREAT food. Between my boyfriend and me, we have almost tried everything on the menu and have not said«eh, it was alright» to anything. ITSALLGOOD!!! We seriously eat here about 3 times a week. The servers are so friendly, you can hear the cooks having a good time in their kitchen and the all around vibe of this place makes you want to stay all day long. It’s a little«hole in the wall» restaurant with a 5 star menu that includes great prices and deals. How many restaurants have their lunch menu until 4 pm and INCLUDE free QUESO?! I will continue to eat here and I highly recommend you stop in for lunch or dinner too!

I’ve been eating here for the last 10 years. The quality of food and service has never changed. They have always been a great place to eat at and today was no different. I highly recommend dropping your car off at Duffys Auto Service across the street to have it serviced while you eat your lunch.

Mazatlan has great Mexican food! I got the steak quesadillas and they were fabulous. My only complaint is the beans they serve. very bland. But other than that I’m a fan of Mazatlan!

SO good. I just ate lunch and the thought of Mazatlan somehow still gets my appetite all worked up. Mmmmmmm… By far my favorite Mexican food in Denton. I’m sure there may be more authentic hole in the wall places or legit street taco stands, but for a well-rounded experience, you can’t go wrong with Mazatlan. It’s a family owned and run business, and they just do it right. From free queso at lunch to $ 1.25 cold brews every day, they’ve always got me coming back from more. Who else has a Huckleberry margarita?! The staff is friendly and good about seating you quickly, even when there’s a wait. The same servers are typically working and always treat you well. They do a great job of making sure you always have a full salsa and bowl of chips, which I never fail to feverishly devour. I’m always wary to get the beef at Mexican restaurants because it too often comes out chewy, greasy, or woven with fat. I did finally step out of my chicken comfort zone and tried Mazatlan’s beef fajitas, and I’ve never gone back! Every kind of meat I’ve had here is amazing. I most recently opted for the steak street tacos(4), which are tender little meat morsels served with the traditional chopped onions, cilantro, and lime on corn tortillas. YUM! All of that being said, dip your chips in the queso then the salsa. You won’t regret it… and you won’t be able to stop until it’s gone!
