Really it should be a 4.5 star. Cost wise– this deserves a five star. Fresh everything and great options including sprouts! Love the variety. They also offer cookies, soup, root beer in a bottle, big bags of chips or little bags! I only couldn’t give it a five star because of the condition of the joint. Lots of water damage in the lobby ceiling and wall, and wasn’t as clean as it could be but acceptable. Lots of great options. Great service. Good central location. Will be coming again

This is one of the best sandwich shops around. Amazing bread that’s always fresh. They do not skimp on meat and cheese — it’s not a bread sandwich They slice the meat when you order! Fresh and delicious!

Not returning after today. I like their sandwiches but their staff is awful. Most of the time they will just stare at you to signal they are ready to take your order. There is an older man there who I’m guessing is the manager or owner who always cracks jokes and makes stupid comments to the customers. He hit his limit with me today and I won’t be returning to his comedy show at ny sub. I ordered my sandwich after an awkward greeting then asked to get a soup. Then the cashier asked why I’d want a soup on a hot day. I said i was craving something salty. The older man pipes up and asks me if I was eating for two. He then proceeded to tell the staff I was expecting. Im not expecting. I didn’t find it funny at all.

I almost didn’t venture in due to other Unilocalers’ rude service reviews. Came in around 9 on a weeknight; dining room held 2 other customers. Walked up and Mr. David teased me almost immediately lol. I don’t think he’s rude though. He reminds me of a papa who is grouchy on purpose. It’s more amusing than anything else; he made me laugh. & he struck me as a man who has tons of life stories I might want to hear if he’d be willing to share. His son, Jared, was quiet and polite. Food? #1 with bacon & cherry peppers added. No complaints. Everything is sliced and made right in front of you… sprinkled with a little sass from Mr. David. Ask for extra mayo or oil/vinegar if you like your sandwich a little on the moist side. I’ll return to try other items.

This is my favorite sandwich place in the whole world. The staff is really friendly, and the sandwiches are always delicious and fresh. The bread is soft and perfect. Not to mention, the prices are great for how much food you get. Most of the sandwiches are $ 3-$ 4 dollars, and they don’t skimp on the meat and veggies. I could eat here every day and never get tired of it.

A true Denton classic. I’ve been eating here since they opened. Classic subs and great atmosphere. Locally owned, and the staff are always friendly. Get the #20 if you have trouble making up your mind on the menu.

Great old school type of deli. Meat sliced when you order. Nice mildewy handwashing station… which I never saw used. Sub was good.

Ahh… New York Subway has such a fond place in my heart. Its easily the best sandwich to get in DFW. I always order the #7(Salami Cappacola Cheese) on wheat, everything on it(including mayo and mustard). For 6 dollars, how can you beat a tasty, fresh foot long sub? I will say, I have some pointers for first timers 1. The people who work here are not bright and cheery like you would receive at a Chili’s. I dont have a problem with this, because I hate insincerity, but some people may be rubbed the wrong way. 2. Compared to New York Sub Hub, they DONOTTOAST the bread. I feel bummed about this sometimes, but its really not a big deal the moment I sink my teeth into these bad boys. 3. The bread is pretty thick, and needs some lubrication. CONDIMENTSARE A MUST!!! 4. These sandwiches can get messy. Don’t try to eat these in the car(unless you want to stain your shirt). This place is worth your time, money, and tastebuds. I always bring my friends here, and most of them are always satisfied(you cant satisfy everyone…)

You know that pizza parlor dream sequence in Nightmare on Elm St. pt. 4? Yea, it’s like that. The staff never muttered anything that resembled a greeting and they just stared at us with daggers of annoyance while we decided what we wanted to get. The place itself is in major need of a makeover and all the furnishings from floor to ceiling are relics of the era of fanned bangs and Journey with a thin layer of grime. There was only one other person in the place when we went in, then they disappeared which leads me to believe it was a ghost. As far as the food goes, it was decent. Nothing earthshatteringly good but, seemingly fresh and a better choice than the other, more grease laden options on University. The bread was fresh and the deli cuts tasty. The only thing my sandwich could’ve used was more of whatever special condiment it is that comes standard because it seemed a tad on the dry side. Otherwise, the experience wasn’t horrible, just unfriendly as all get out so I probably won’t go back seeing as they don’t really like customers.

Most unfriendly and unprofessional staff I think I’ve ever experienced… The employee who kind of took our order(wrote it down after asking«HUH?!» twice, then dropped the pen and walked off) was openly fighting with the owner about what he gets paid. And after all that, the owner just walked off, too, not even acknowledging what was going down in front of customers. No employee would make eye contact with us. They all seemed genuinely annoyed we were even there and actually wanted food. Even though it’s the same sandwich off the same menu, I swear the food at the other locations even tasted better. Maybe it was all that customer service sprinkled in… hmmm… Go to the Avenue C location. They have manners. And serious sandwich skills.

This has been one of my favorites in Denton for 20 years. They have fresh bread, cut the meat when you order it, and keep their fresh veggies in a fridge. For the vegetarians, they have both veggie sub and a big salad. They have a huge selection of chips, and there are cookies for dessert. They don’t toast their sandwiches, but there’s a microwave you can use to heat yours up. This place is very inexpensive — when I take my
