Good breakfast stop, simple and straight forward, good service. If I lived in the area it would be a frequent stop for a quick and good breakfast.

Everything we had was fantastic, but the Shelby Special was off the charts. Service was great.

Went on a Sunday morning. Friendly staff. Got meals prepared efficiently. The environment isn’t what I expected. It’s very artsy. They have fresh baked goods daily. I had a burrito= delicious. Husband had a sandwich which was good. Semi costly, but it supports a local business

Exceptional food. Great service. Nice location, clean and cozy. Everything is fresh made with fresh ingredients and it tastes like it. If you get lucky they’ll have carrot cake made, definitely go for that.

We love this spot for brunch! It’s our Sunday meeting spot with mom every week for over a year. Consistently great food, good prices, extremely friendly local owners… what’s not to love? We like their two-egg plate, burritos, and BLTs. Their homemade chips are amazing, as are their cinnamon/sugar dusted fried po-boys. It is definitely getting busier, but we’ve never waited more than a few minutes… They are closed on Mondays, btw.

This is an isolated event but needed to share. Our server today was not friendly ATALL. This is my favorite place to come and have a BLT(can’t beat it) but the interaction and the staff sitting around from customer perspective was very off putting. Not to mention I sat there and watched my server redo her hair while sitting at the bar top and then proceeded to hop down from her chair and go grab our food without stopping to wash her hands. The phone rang multiple times with 4 employees sitting doing nothing before anyone answered it. In a small town this behavior may be acceptable but in Denton, for a small business owner, you have to really set yourself apart(positively). If I were the owner I would have been furious to see my staff through this customer’s eyes. I hope next time I come in I will be greeted with the regular friendly staff, a greater sense of awareness and a server that acts like she works in the service industry.

This little place is gem. It was always good, but recently the menu has gotten even better. More choices, bigger portions, delicious entrees and reasonable prices. We go for breakfast any time.

Really enjoyed this place. Lots on the menu! Food came out pretty fast and was delicious. Went for breakfast. Didn’t order anything fancy but some eggs, bacon and some hash browns. It’s a small spot but inside it very«roomy» and has that warm feeling. Will definitely be back!

I had a Goldilocks moment here — everything was just right! The eggs were cooked perfectly, the toast came buttered with the right amount of butter, the hash browns were crispy and subtly seasoned and the sausage patty had just the right amount of spice. This was a savory breakfast at a very reasonable price.

The chicken strips were crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. Pretty much perfect. Server Adam was super helpful with questions and very personable.

My wife and I came to this restaurant around 1030 and beat the morning or lunch rush, if they have one. Staff was very friendly and attentive. My wife got the number 1 breakfast meal and enjoyed how crispy the hashbrowns were. I got the fried chicken sandwich, a favorite anywhere, and it went well with fries. Both our meals, cup of coffee and two extra biscuits came out to 17 dollars. For the price and atmosphere it was a good experience.

Everytging else was quite a bit of a wait so we tried this place. It’s new and off the square so worth a shot. The breakfast menu is tiny, be prepared like 6 items tiny, but if you’re the kind of person that no matter where you go you get eggs, toast, meat this is a fine menu. The food came out hot and the biscuits are yummy. The hash browns are deep fried and almost uneatable they are so crunchy. Not my thing it might be yours. The staff is in need of training but it’s new so maybe they just need some time to get their legs. The one thing that will make me not come back is that they use styrofoam cups for everything. It’s a waste of trash and completely unnecessary. I would beg the owner to switch to reusable cups for those dining in and paper for those who want Togo.

I miss Café Duluxe. Don’t get me wrong, their food was just as mediocre as Rising Sun, but at least they had half decent coffee(with a drive through window). If you want good breakfast, head across the street to Sidewalk. If you want good coffee… good luck.

Not bad for a little café. The atmosphere is nice; clean, plus there is interesting art on the walls. The menu is small, which is surprisingly refreshing. They have board games to play while you wait, so our kids were kept entertained and happy. They don’t give much meat with the«2 eggs, meat, toast, and hash brown breakfast»(only one sausage patty given), but it was pretty good. The kids liked the breakfast. Our teenager ordered the grilled chicken sandwich, which came with interesting homemade looking potato chips. The sausage breakfast burrito was very flavorful. The service was friendly and inviting. For a family consisting of Mom, Dad, teen, and toddler(whose meal was shared with Mom), the cost was right at $ 30. We felt it was a touch on the pricy side, which is why we only gave 4 stars. However, we would definitely return to this establishment.

I love the atmosphere of this case in the morning. We had coffee and pancakes which were soooo good! It’s quiet and comfy. The service was attentive without being too attentive. :) Local art is hanging around for purchase — so we can support the locals in all kinds of way. TVs hang above the kitchen — they aren’t too loud but news runs and keeps you informed. You can tell I like the quiet but kids would be fine at this café. There was a baby there and he was making noise playing with blocks. The feelings of Rising Sun even helps kiddos chilled. :) Don’t shy away from bringing them.

I went in and the staff was friendly enough the server recommended the tuscan chicken sandwich or something, any way it had sundried tomatoes and pesto on it it was ok, the chicken I could tell was some bulk chicken breast patty probably from Sysco or BenEKeith which is fine I guess but maybe tenderize it a little pound it out some, season it a bit, something, the pesto and tomatoes were ok it wasn’t worth 8.99 given the type of patty they used , my biggest problem is when the guy asked if I wanted fries or chips. he made it sound like a choice, not that the fries were going to be 2.50 extra, and the meager portion I received for the extra cost was very disappointing the ticket said«medium» if that’s medium I hate to see the small. and they put chips in my oreder anyway, which onr might think hey what a bonus but these flavorless potato planks weren’t that good, all in all with the tea my meal was 14 dollars !!! burger time machine gives you a fat burger fries and a drink for ten, I went ahead and paid because I didn’t wanna cause a scene, but I felt swindled on the fries ands the 9 dollar sandwich should’ve been six dolllars at the most that meal should’ve been maybe nine dollars I felt bad not tipping but I got it to go and if it was nine or ten not FOURTEEN I might have tipped a little . this place was the café duluxe before and it didn’t make it and I don’t see this place making it either, maybe they do better at breakfast,

So this place has a really nice feel. A very open and airy atmosphere with plenty of nice décor. The menu is small but the ingredients seem to be all fresh and for the price you can’t beat it. Heck I don’t even know where you can get a breakfast as good as the one they serve for the same price. I was a little disappointed that my hash browns were not hot, and which is why this place didn’t get 5 stars. Other than that the burrito I had was excellent with lots of flavor. If you are in the area and looking for a good place to have breakfast or lunch then certainly stop by and give this little place a try!

I have had breakfast here a few times. I like the art wall. The place is good looking. The breakfast is solid and in like the coffee. I have always had very attentive service. They seem to do a lot of drive through service, but I have always dined in.

Oh Unilocal, you’ve done your matchmaking again! My stomach thanks you. I would have never known about Rising Sun, but came across some of its good reviews on here and decided to give it a try for Friday brunch. Major success! If I’m in Unicorn Lake I typically visit Sidewalk Café, which I still love, but can see some perks to Rising Sun. They’re very affordable, have a to go window, and the menu is limited enough that my head doesn’t want to blow up from decision making. I accidentally ended up here two days in a row after forgetting my credit card, but had no problem finding something delicious each time. I’ve tried the pulled pork bfast burrito(add onions, mushrooms, jalapeños!), bacon-egg-cheese bfast sandwich on a homemade English muffin, poboy donuts(come with bfast sammies), coffee, and the mushroom Swiss burger with onion rings. Every damn thing was delicious and worth repeating. The pulled pork stole the spotlight, though, with lots of flavor. Weird preference, but I love that the ingredients are well mixed before nestled in the tortilla. Makes each bite better than the last with perfect flavor balance! Friday lunch the place was DEAD, but I was happy to see it busy on Saturday. I’ll definitely be back, perhaps to take advantage of their to go window or try out their dinner delights. Support this new(ish) local business!
