I enjoyed everything here and me and my friends laughed the entire time great meal great night.

I really liked this place when it first opened, but it seems like every time I’ve gone in the recent past, it’s gone downhill just a little bit more. The sushi went from really delicious to just okay, sometimes little flavor, and it seems the past few times I’ve been my rolls fall apart when I eat them. I am always welcomed when I come in, and the chefs always smile. However, the service went from great to poor. It seems they are always understaffed, and everyone is running around crazy. It seems like they usually have one waiter on staff for all of the tables. I feel very rushed every time I go in to finish quickly and pay the bill and get out. The last time I went, it was actually a very stressful meal. I guess an upside to that is if you’re looking for a very fast meal, this is the place to go. They do you have a great lunch options, so maybe getting something to go from here wouldn’t be that bad. I don’t plan to return to this restaurant, but hopefully they can get back to what they used to be.

I have been coming here for years even with previous owners. It just keeps getting better. I have always gotten a togo and never disappoints, usually gives me a extra on top of my order. Brian is very friendly and usually chats when he’s not real busy. Interesting fellow to talk to as well as the rest of the staff. They always greet me and acknowledges my return visit. Shrimp rice balls and crab rolls are my favorite, always ask for extra wasabi, it will set you free.

First, sushi is decent and reasonably priced for being located in Denton. Other food is good to. But, the service is not good because of one waiter. He is awkward, and makes me feel less than welcome. Takes your order and brings your food that’s it! Usually you don’t have to ask for drink refills in most oriental places, but you do here. He is unfriendly and acts stressed if he has one table or 10. *Disclaimer: I do and have tipped, said thank you, always courteous

I used to love this place, but has drastically gone down in quality. The restaurant looks nice so they have that going for them. It’s always clean inside. Food. Edamame is decent, but that’s pretty easy. The soup is bland and not very flavorful. The vegetable tempura is usually undercooked. The rolls always fall apart, are not very full, and the insides are undercooked(veggie rolls). Prices. Prices are kinda high compared to other sushi restaurants in the area, especially for what you get. Service. It’s pretty much always the same guy now. He runs around like crazy making people feel uncomfortable, is awkward, and not very friendly. I usually feel stressed out after he waits on us. Not sure what happened to this place. We used to love it but after multiple bad experiences we are done.

This place is terrible! Bad service to start! So we ordered beer, no limes. No club soda! I mean really, no limes? Beer ended up being out of date. My Michelob Ultra had a date of Dec. 2014, no Bueno! We had already paid and the waiter finally remembered to bring our edamame appetizer! I gave this place a second try, never again! And the waiter wasn’t able to answer any questions you had for him. I will continue at Sushi Fugu in Highland Village! It rocks! So does the service! Kyle Krueger is the best! Only gave it one star because it required me too, otherwise it would have received zero!

Very good sushi and food for the price! I personally love their veggie tempura and my husband loves the firecracker rolls. the service is pretty good, but sometimes they seem overwhelmed. I’ve never had a bad experience though, they always give service with a smile.

Surprisingly good sushi. I have been there a couple of times, and I have not been disappointed. Always start with a salad! They make the most delicious and fresh tasting salad dressing, that will let you wanting more! You can tell the rolls are made with fresh ingredients, and they are very flavorful. The presentation is nice, and their service is quick and polite. I will definitely be coming back!

Walked in and saw only one other table, of course that made me a bit skeptical especially since it’s dinner time. But we were seated immediately & our drinks came right out. We asked for a few minutes to look over the menu, and even asked for a point in the right direction on what we should order. Our waiter was very nice and told us his favorites(which we ended up getting). I kid you not within 5 minutes our appetizer, two sushi rolls, & tuna tower were all placed in front of us. The food was so good and the fact that we didn’t have to wait that long was great. Will definitely be coming back(:

Good food and friendly service but definitely not a cheap place. The pricing is about on par with most sushi places so expect to spend a decent amount if you come here for dinner. I think they have lunch specials that might make it a little cheaper so maybe next time we’ll try them for lunch. They also offer a sushi boat option but we haven’t tried it yet. We split an order of fried gyoza to start before having a memories of a geisha, a caterpillar, and a spicy tuna roll. They were all great and we would definitely order them all again in the future. There are many other menu items we’d like to try so we plan on returning as soon as we can.

Ordered the rainbow roll and was surprised by how little I got and by how old it looked. The pieces looked like the fish had been out in the open for awhile, the wasabi they have me was a ball almost the size of a pea and they only gave me one slice of ginger. The taste was okay but the roll felt like it wanted to break apart when picked up as well.

I was not impressed with the quality of sushi. The only thing I was impressed it was the price. I was told Kroger’s sushi was much better. So I have decided to go and purchase some sushi from Kroger and find out. This is a place I will not care to visit again.

Solid 3 Star sushi establishment… Fresh fish, descent local, a bit overpriced, and I feel that the taste profiles are nothing to rave about. I am Gluten Free, so that limits my options, but I have ate here several times and will be back again in the future. My daughter recommends the Tuna Tower and I think their Yellow Tail is the best I have had in the area.

I’ve been eating here for a couple years now. I’ve ate at other sushi spots in Denton as well(like j sushi) and Motto is superior by far. That goes for price, menu and staff. Motto has the freshest fish and most professional staff by far. These guys are great. The food is awesome. I look forward to enjoying sushi and top notch service here for years to come. And for anyone who has eating at Motto but it’s been awhile, they now serve beer and wine along with sake. :*)

I’ve been here so many times. If I had checked in on Unilocal every single time, I’d probably be a regular. At first, I was really skeptical about giving this place a try. It was small and dark and it looked like not many people usually ate there. I’m really glad I did give it a try though. The lighting is kinda dark but it’s cozy. it’s a good date setting. Every time I’ve come though, I’m usually the only table there or there’s maybe 2 or 3 other tables. It’s not a big deal but it just seems like some people may not be giving sushi motto the chance it deserves. Everyone is really nice, as soon as you walk through the door, the sushi chefs greet you in in think japanese or Korean. I’m not sure. I’ve been here for lunch once and I came about 40 minutes before closing and they still served me. Other came in later and closer to their closing time but they still served them so I don’t think they are very strict about the closing times. I’d just hate to be that person that comes right at the closing time. Anyways, the lunch specials are amazing. You get a regular lunch special or a deluxe lunch special. Details of the two are hazy to me right now but believe me, it’s good. Dinner is good too. Nothing super special except for free edamame. The prices are okay. It’s not cheap but it’s not expensive either. Expect to spend some money. The sashimi is fresh and I love it here. The eye of the Tiger appetizer is bomb. The super volcano roll comes with lots of scallops, crawfish, shrimp and imitation crab. So much extra that you can probably put some on top of other rolls and eat it with that. I really like the geisha roll. Honestly, I have been happy with everything I’ve ordered at sushi motto so far.

This is a strong 2STAR!!! No matter how you look at it… when I was passing by this place on my way home to Chicago I thought Sushi would hit the spot… it did… but not the right one. WTF??? Really, this is listed on Unilocal as 4.5 stars. We call this«zamanuha»! If this highly rated Sushi spot in Denton is representation of this town gastronomic movement, I will never consider to eat even BBQ in this mf… I am hurt… The End

Was intrigued to come here because of their awesome lunch special deal which is 3 rolls half sizzled(4 pieces), house salad, a dumpling, edamame, and bulgogi all for $ 9.95. Arrived right at 11 on the dot and was the first customer, I already knew I wanted to try their sushi combo I ordering was a breeze. I ordered their lunch special which allows you to pick 3 rolls and you get half sized rolls(4 pieces). The special is AWESOME. The amount of food you get for a mere $ 10 has got to be one of the best sushi deals there are in town. The eel roll, shrimp tempura roll, and salmon roll were pretty standard as was the salad. The thing that surprised me was their side dishes, they give you a side of edamame, a dumpling and bulgogi! The bulgogi was fantastic and I’m still in shock at how good a deal this was. Service was great and the food came out fast. I arrived at 11 and finished my meal and paid for my check in 30 minutes. The place only seems to have one server but that did not hinder the quality of the service. I will definitely be coming back because it’s such a good lunch special and conveniently a short drive from TWU campus.

I saw this place listed when I pulled up my Unilocal app, and we decided to try it immediately. The renovation inside makes you forget you’re in a busy little strip mall. And, the waitress was attentive but had the entire floor to watch over so we did have to wave her down a couple of times, which is fine with me. As we perused the menu for what to try first, we decided on some old and new things. For appetizers, we got a jalapeño stuffed with crabmeat. That was so big we only ate one of them, packing the other two up to go. I tried the Cajun Edamame, and the spice was very good but I’m not sure if it’s a $ 1 more good. I’ll try something else next time. Now for the rolls. I’ve not had high expectations in Denton or Lewisville for sushi, so I’ve been avoiding it for a while. My hubby got a roll wrapped in crabmeat, I forgot the name but it was good. He also had a plate of fresh and smoked salmon sashimi. I tried a piece of both and was pleasantly surprised at the quality! So buttery and smooth, no chewy pieces that you sometimes can find at other sushi places. I would do that again. I tried the lobster roll, expecting something like rock lobster. Oh, no. it wasn’t rock lobster at all but big bites of Maine, wrapped up into a delicious roll and topped with fried onions & crunchy bits. I could have skipped the appetizers and just been satisfied with the roll but maybe next time I can do that! We could only finish ½ of our rolls as well so they went into the to-go container. It is BYOB so that is easily solved with the gas station in the same shopping center. And, they do have another menu of selections from the kitchen, bento boxes, udon noodles, etc. I am excited to try Haru again. If it’s as good as it was the night we came in, I might have to go ahead and bump the ranking to 5 stars. I rarely give a 5 star rating but this gem, is as good as any of the sushi places I’ve been to in Dallas. Thanks, Haru, for breathing life back into the sushi selections of Denton!
