I am a big believer in Aveda products. They are mostly natural, gentle, and leave my skin and hair feeling great. I have three sets of shampoos and conditioners that I rotate, two of which are from Aveda. I use Pure Abundance to give my hair much needed volume and Shampure for the wash and go days. I love the new Pure Abundance Style Prep to detangle and volumize my hair; it replaced two different products I was previously using. Finally, the Light Elements Texturizing Crème helps pull my ‘do together. I have also used the Botanical Kinetics Purifying Gel Cleanser to wash my face for years. It does not irritate or dry my skin and it smells light and fresh. Yes, Aveda’s products are quite pricey. But I think they are worth it. You definitely get a better value by buying the larger sizes whenever possible. Aveda also has a rewards points system so you can get free or discounted facials and massages from participating Aveda salons and spas. Even though this Aveda store is located inside Cherry Creek mall, it is located near the entrance to the West parking deck, making it easy to park and run in and out if you don’t want to spend any time walking through the mall. They always have peppermint tea for you and will offer you a shoulder and hand massage. I have seen the same ladies working there for years, which sort of makes it feel like a little local shop instead of just another store in the mall.

Wanted to peruse the shampoo and conditioner at the Aveda store in Cherry Creek. I recently had the opportunity to use some Aveda shampoo and my hair was so soft that I made it a point to seek them out the next time I was at the mall. The woman working was very pleasant and quickly offered me a cup of warm tea. The tea hit the spot and warmed my throat and my stomach as I continued to browse and sip. She was quick to point out the products that would work best for my type of hair. And then the price jumps out at me, holy crap! $ 50 for a bottle of shampoo that I could go through in under a month. I’m all about quality and using the best and buying the best but this put me into a stall. Normally this wouldn’t bother me but I quickly did the math on how much that would be over time and the dollars added up to more than I was willing to expend. I have no doubt this is a quality product and I may use a few Aveda products in the future, just not for eveyday shampooing. I left empty handed and feeling more knowledgable about the Aveda product lines. Maybe someday…

Jennifer W. is correct, Aveda definitely has an aggressive selling technique that they have their associates use. But that’s like most cosmetics stores I shop at and in some ways I like it, because if I need help, they are more than happy to do so. I found out I wasn’t using the right Aveda shampoo and conditioner by doing so and switched over to their Dry Remedy line. Additionally, if I tell them I don’t need help and ask them(nicely) to stop, they will… and remain courteous. Additionally, if you’re on their birthday club list, you get an annual gift, this year I opted for the Infinity Element #26 to be mixed with a full size shower gel. I purchased nothing this time, and this still finished the visit with a 5 minute massage. I usually go to this location or the one at Flatirons and have had friendly, helpful service at both and will continue to shop at both locations.

I love Aveda products, I use them daily but I hate coming to their stores to buy things because their sales people have an awful hard-sell technique that I can’t stand. When you come in and say«I just need to pick up some shampoo I ran out this AM» they can’t just say«great which do you use» they say, well why don’t you tell me about your hair and they try and try and try to sell you all kinds of things and products you don’t want, need, use, etc. like $ 73 conditioner – no thanks! My stylist worked with Aveda for over a decade, she’s with another salon now,(and she’s worked with my hair for almost 3 years now) and she’s told me that at Aveda they’re trained to do this, when I told her what they’ve tried to sell me she just laughs and has told me what products I might actually want to use and which ones are totally unnecessary, almost everything they’ve tried to sell me in the stores are things she says are totally unecessary. Love the products, hate the tactics in the store.
