I love this place. It is a real hidden gem. Its an nuvo style bistro and bar. The food is great, and the service is literally exceptional. Dont miss this one!

DONOTMISSTHEFROSTEDFLAKEFRENCHTOAST!!! You can get one slice as an appetizer so there are no excuses folks. Shrimp and grits=amazing. Grits that put Lucile’s to the test. And for $ 10, you can add bottomless blood orange mimosas. Booyaka. For dinner fried chicken is off the chain gang. Black bean burger is solid as well. Highly recommended spot in Lobro.(lower broadway)

We came here last night because my friend said they«have a pretty good burger». As it turns out, that was quite the understatement. I arrived at about 5:30, they had a happy hour going until 7 so I went ahead and ordered a Red Hook ESB. Not too many places have this on tap, so this impressed me. I sat at a table in the bar and was greeted immediately by the bartender, whose name was Rachel, I believe. She promptly returned when my friend arrived and was extremely attentive and friendly. She laughed and joked with us and put up with all of our weirdness(it was one of those nights), and never left us wanting. The burger was incredible! The patty was very well seasoned and both of ours were cooked perfectly to our requests, not a massive hunk of meat either, just the right size. Far too many places serve a horse-choking portion that’s simply unnecessary. We each had the Bistro Burger, which comes with cheddar and bacon and a tomatillo relish. I had the latter on the side, it was just diced tomatillos without any extra ingredients, so I skipped it. For condiments, we had some garlic aglio which was good, but I was blown away to learn that stone ground mustard was an option! Yum! That was a nice treat! The fries here are fresh cut and cooked just right. On top of that, it’s a neat little spot, not very big, dimly lit and quiet. They have a patio also. The overall experience was awesome, and this was a great new discovery for me. It’s going on my Best Burgers list as well as my personal regular rotation. Cheers and(medium) Well Done!

We just finished another great meal here. The ribs are amazing! The last time we ate here, one of us ordered them and I was wondering if we got lucky, or the ribs were that good. Confirmed, these are some of the BEST Dry Rubbed Ribs in Denver. Also, the Fried Chicken is great. The rest of the menue is pretty good, but not 5 stars. Everybody who ordered the ribs loved them, and we’ll be coming back for more. Also, the service was great. I think it was the owner who was working tonight, who mentioned we should try the fried chicken. He said he had worked with the chef at Stubens, and likes his better. I’m on Bistro One’s side. It is good and was not crowded, so you can actually have a nice meal where you can chat with your friends. Don’t skip the ribs!

What a great little restaurant. I’ve heard good things about their dinner menu that changes frequently but I was in for brunch this time. The first thing I noticed was the prices. SO reasonable and great on the checkbook. The blood orange mimosa — Yum. What a nice way to start off the day — at 11am or so. I ordered the Crouqe Madame and my friend ordered the Cheese Biscuits and Gravy. You would think that to be an awkward combination but somehow it worked. I wish I could’ve traded since my love is biscuits and gravy but the cheesy wonderfulness of my Texas toast(yeah that’s right) and ham filled sandwich drew me in. The potatoes are cut and mixed up into small bits like you’d see in some frozen package at the supermarket but they were GOOD. Flavorful and there was no need for ketchup. Next time in Denver I’ll be checking out this place for dinner.

First let me just get this off my chest– a crisp is a dessert that is warm, and fruity with a delicious sweet crispy topping. That is a crisp. The parfait like creation with graham crackers in the bottom was not… I repeat NOT… a crisp. Other than that the overwhelming smell of weed, the burned chicken and the mini-booth we were squeezed into made it an interesting if not pleasant experience. The crab cakes were good. The waitress was nice. The clientelle was geriatric. Yep. The crab cakes were good.

Well, it had been too long since my last cheesey puff @ Bistro One, and I’m not made of steel. So I met up with my gal pal for a glass(or two) of Sparkly wine(a Brut) for Happy Hour and various appetizers. We were able to hang out @ the bar for a long, undisturbed conversation, noshing on various items like potato pancakes & fried green tomatoes. Then came the crawfish mac & cheese. Addictive. What I truly appreciate about Bistro One is the care they put in their food and their wine selection. The menu is consistently updated and revised, and in my opinion remains interesting and thoughtful.

The new menu and fresh updates have me wanting more. Cuban pork sandwich? Yes please. They also improved the beer selection and added a couple of TVs so I’m more comfortable now heading down for a quick meal by myself. The old classics are still around, steak frites, craw-fish mac-n-cheese, but also a lot more everyday items on the list. Things like angry fish — interesting idea, but frankly I was afraid — have now become smoked shrimp pasta; much more approachable… and delicious. Looking forward to a full-sized salad… stay tuned for that review…

I’m giving a two because my disappointment from last night has not yet subsided. Otherwise, I would give a three. After passing by many times, I finally went here for happy hour about a month ago and I should have reviewed then, because it was fantastic! I told all my friends about the incredible tiny, french ham and cheese sandwiches and the sweet corn and potato risotto. It was to die for. Much to my disbelief, I returned last night and the menu has been changed to «neighborhood» food(What neighborhood, a boring one?) and those two special items were removed, along with the«sweet salad». Fries are not as good anymore either. They were a 10 — you didn’t need ketchup — but now you do. Anyway, It was okay, but with my two favorite things gone, why go back? I mean, I seriously dreamed about the corn and potato risotto! The happy hour house wines are really good and the bar is still great– I will say that. I’m bitter — sniff sniff.

You might wanna ignore this review. I’ve read the reviews about this place by other Unilocalers whose opinion I’ve grown to respect, and their experience wasn’t ours. Now, down to the nit’n’grit: Location. A tough sell at a busy, hard-to-park stretch of S. Bdwy, though once you’re inside, who cares? Atmosphere. Sparse. TVs tuned to ball games over-looking the dining area from the bar = not too cool. Servers. Had a totally charming, efficient, excellent server with the most adorable smile and personality. Five stars for her. Food. Three stars and a bit over-priced. Tomato pies were an interesting idea that didn’t come together. Little phyllo dough cups stuffed with a mish/mash of cheesy goo(including some tomatoes, probably), sitting on a deep-fried basil leaf. Cute, but not seriously good tasting; Crawfish mac and cheese with bacon was a better idea, and if it was the only thing we had we would have given the place 4 stars. Give it a try. It’s a tasty and a little bit unusual take on the popular M&C dish you see at lots of trendy places these days; House salad with poached pears, candied spiced almonds and blue cheese was a very nice, but not spectacular salad. Those small plates, along with a small so-so prosecco and a decent pinot noir(and a 20+% tip), resulted in an over $ 50 late night snack. Too much for a room over-looked by 2 game-playin’ TVs and food portions that wouldn’t have satisfied a Lilliput.

My friends rave about Bistro One and we finally met them for brunch on Sunday. Not sure what they rave about, it was nothing special in my mind anyway. Each to their own I guess! They say the have a tradition, they order french fries, green chili & ham steak. The green chili was good, we dipped our fries in it & smothered the ham steaks with it, not a bad start. Bottomless Blood Orange mimosas too. Ok-I’m likin this. But then I looked at the menu-boring! Just basic breakfast, a few omelets, 1 pancake dish, a few benedicts… I don’t know, I guess I was just expecting a lot more. The items aren’t organic, or local, and for the price, they should have been and then some! I ordered the omelet of the day, which had shallots, mushrooms, Swiss & bacon. It was good, but small. It came with an overabundance of breakfast potatoes, but no sausage for a side? It wasn’t even listed in the ala carte items. Sometimes, a lot of hype can turn into a big let down I suppose!

Deelicious! Went there with some friends last night and I’ve driven by this place so many times on my way home from work. It’s the perfect touch of a nice downtown Denver meal without having to drive downtown, pay for parking, and um, deal with downtown people :)(I can say that because I lived downtown for 7 years haha). Anyway…met the owner, Alex as well, he is super nice guy. I feel bad they’re doing so much construction but hopefully others will see what a great place this is!!! I had the English pea consommé to start and it was magical. The broth was clear and I didn’t know if it would have any taste but what a wonderful surprise. For my main entrée I had the crawfish mac and cheese. They make all of their bread and pasta from scratch, as well as have a greenhouse on the roof(right next to a «Wellness Center», yeahhh!) I’ve heard such great things about Brunch that I’m definitely going to try it out as my favorite Benedict is from Seven30South as well right now :) The service was wonderful, OH, and they made my martini PERFECTLY! Grey Goose, straight up, three olives, ONE drop of olive juice… no one has satisfied my perfect martini in a very long time. Kudos Bistro One! It’s a great addition to the Broadway strip and I hope more people come here!!! We need some nice elegance once in awhile and won’t break the bank.

I went here the for the first time last night. I’ve been eating food for 45 years as of June 10th and this place ROCKS. Quite possibly one of the best meals I’ve had. The speciality drink and wine were great. I’m definitely a fan, service was fantastic.

Met a girlfriend here for dinner to catch up and gossip. At 5:45 — it wasn’t too crowded and the place was humming — perfect. Instantly thought it would be a great place for a 2nd or 3rd date. By the time I left at 7:30, the place was full and too noisy… will have to file that tidbit away for times I can make it to a second or third date. The standouts were the mac and cheese and duck 2 ways appetizer. Mmm. Definite must haves. I had such high hopes for my entrée — the rib eye with brussel sprouts, etc. I ordered the beef med-rare/warm. It was nice and pink/red and continued cooking the longer it sat on my plate but I couldn’t get over the charred taste on the outside. Oh well. thankfully, the chocolate bombe dessert washed that burnt taste away.

Bistro One’s «Braised Pork Belly» was listed as one of the top 100 must eat dishes in Denver magazine, so I gave it a shot: Rating: 6.5(out of 10) Price: $ 9 The Skinny: Bistro One is kinda cool in that it’s fairly unexpected. You’ll find it on the no-so-trendy part of Broadway, past a furnishings store, and sandwiched between a Spicy Pickle and a Piano warehouse. But I like that. I like a place that says«we’re going to open up anywhere we damn well please, but our food will be so good you’ll find us». And it’s apparently working, as I was lucky to wait only 20 minutes to get a seat on an average night. They do a lot of interesting things for a bistro. Wide ranging things, trendy things, classic things, etc. In the«trendy things» category is their«Braised Pork Belly» which is plated quite nicely, and stacked together with sweet potato gnocchi and roasted apples. The pork belly itself was decent — fatty at one end, meaty at the other and caramelized on the outside. And, as you can imagine, the sweet potato gnocchi and apples really sweetened things up and blended nicely with the fatty juices of the pork. I can’t say it was a favorite dish, but it was a nodding head«ok». PS — Their steak frites, although given a lot of press and attention… just average I’ve got a picture of the pork belly up on the blog on my profile jko

I would come back here again and again, simply for the Croque Madame they serve at brunch. While it is rich, its delightful, and the champagne crème accompanies it is the perfect touch(since I’m not a huge fan of hollandaise). I think I’ll take the advice of Sarah G. and sub salad for my potatoes next time. The potatoes are good– but I could use a little more greenery. My sister and I met here on a Saturday morning around lunchtime– and we could only spot 2 staff members the host and a waiter. All of the tables were filled, so this did slow service a bit. But we still had a great time, and one of the best mimosas I’ve had.

We’re in a restaurant rut. We have many great favorites, but seeing as we go out 95% of the time, we’ve worn our taste buds going to the same places over and over. We ventured out to Bistro One for dinner, and our tastebuds are once again happy. The mac and cheese appetizer was amazing, and served in a really cool dish, and the bread was also very good. We loved our entrees and desert as well. It was all GREAT! So why three(really I would like it to be 3.5) stars? Because, as beautiful as it was in there, it was louder than a Jr. High cafeteria. I don’t know if our service was good or not, because I couldn’t hear a thing that he said, nor could I hear my date… but I could clearly hear the guy 4 tables over talking about the last time he had the flu. We spent the whole meal leaned forward saying, «WHAT???». I’d love to go back for the food, but they really need to find a way to dampen the noise.

I come for two things: Croque Madame($ 10) and the blood orange mimosa($ 6 for one or $ 10 for bottomless). I always sub the potates for a nice salad of assorted greens as the heavy potatoes fill too much space and compete with the Croque. I was happy as a clam. The ham is rich with a deep complex flavor, the bread is wonderfully toasted complete with girll marks, the eggs are perfectly set and the champgne cream blankets the eggs like a sheet of perfection and dances with the jarlsburg. So why, why must the dining experience have been just ho hum for the rest of my friends? The hostess took us to a table in the same corner as all cusotmers currently in the restaurant and right next to the kitchen. I asked to be moved to the opposite end of the restaurant becuase the accoustics are not good. It looks nice, but brick and concrete make for a lot of noise. The corner where we sat was freezing and when we asked the waiter to please turn up the heat he did so willingly but felt the need to tell us that the setting was left on night mode. Don’t care. Just turn on the heat. My beau ordered the omlette of the day which was much too small. Six bites and it was gone, gone, gone. I could have done better at home. The daughter and another friend ordered the egg sandwich($ 9). Minus the bernaise, McDonalds provides the same presentation for much less. In both cases, the plates were loaded with potatoes(a cheap filler) to make up for the lack of food. Another friend ordered the Eggs Benedict($ 9) and was was pleased, not estatic, but pleased. We ordered a total of six drinks and was blown a way with the final tab. $ 93 plus tip brought us over $ 100. Sadly that is too much when we can go to the old faithful and eat and drink MORE for much less. Again, I was pleased but I was also not paying. I will come back for my two vices, but most likely, I will have to come solo or round up some other newbies. If I can get this group back, I would push them to order the steak and eggs, french onion soup and the burger. I think they will be much more pleased. And don’t forget your sweater. Until then… goodbye BO.

Okay, so I was skeptical of this place. It was my husband and I’s two year anniversary and my mother in law bought us a gift certificate for Bistro One. I had never heard of it and after reading some of the reviews on here I was a little nervous. You have to understand something about me… I am picky about food and my chef husband is even pickier(a snob really). With that in mind let me tell you about one of the most amazing meals I have ever had. Our server was friendly without being annoying(you know what I mean). Everything from the bread to the pasta to the ice cream and sorbets are made in house. I’ll start with the bread. I read several reviews that called this regular sliced white bread. I will give these people the benefit of the doubt… maybe they have a new chef now. Everyday they have a different homemade bread. Last night’s was dill. It was perfection. A beautiful melding of flavors. I was craving a mojito and so our waiter went to the kitchen to get fresh mint because they didn’t have it at the bar. It was pretty good. Now back to the food. We ordered the scallop ceviche. I don’t love seafood. I loved this. Again, this chef has a gift for melding flavors and still keeping things subtle. My husband ordered the Rib eye with ricotta gnocchi(made fresh). I had the steak frites with tarragon butter. This was the best steak I have ever had. It was cooked perfectly. It melted like butter in my mouth. Can you tell I am in love with food? For dessert we had the Bailey’s Crème Brulee(this is how God intended Crème Brulee to taste), and the Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp with black pepper ice cream. I was not sure how I would feel about the ice cream… it was delicious. Sweet with a little kick that complemented the crisp wonderfully. They even comped one dessert because it was our anniversary. And I love free things so… The best part of all this is that it isn’t too pricey. The most expensive entrée is $ 24. Maybe it isn’t for everyone, but try it. I was very impressed. That’s saying something.

First, let me say that our food was excellent. Ordered the crab cake benedict and it was the best I’ve had in Denver. No fishy taste or bits of crunchy crab shell to be found like at some establishments. Even the potatoes with bits of red bell pepper on the side were good. My hubby was very happy with his classic benedict — perfect amount of sauce, lovely presentation. If that was where this ended, I would add more stars. Here’s the rub, our service was… weird. We stood at the door for a few minutes with no one in sight. Then the waiter saw us and… walked away. We waited some more, and some more. Finally the host showed up and offered to seat us. OK here’s the weird part– our host made very conspicuous eye contact with us at every moment. You know how you are coached to keep constant eye-contact during a job interview? Yeah, it was like that. I felt like he was going to ask me what I felt my best qualities as an employee would be. It was… uncomfortable. Weirder yet, it CONTINUED when our waiter came to the table. I can only assume that management has dictated that their waitstaff do this weird eye thing. Please stop, it’s creepy. To add to the weird eye thing, it took us forever to get our check. There were only a few tables occupied so it shouldn’t have taken so long. One more(minor) gripe. This place was LOUD and sound echoed everywhere. The hard modern décor does not lend itself towards good acoustics. Even though there were only 20 or so people in here, I couldn’t hear my hubby sitting right across from me.
