So…3.5 years later, and a stint with another company for internet access, I thought I’d give xFinity/​Comcast another shot.
The definition of insanity is … blah blah blah…
And I didn’t even get beyond the installation process… cancelled the whole thing before the 3^rd visit.
Call center, web-​site, and techs didn’t have the same information.
THEN, I decided to buy a day pass to hold me over until my other service started so that I could work from home. At the end of the day, I powered down my work computer and tried to sign on with my home computer. Couldn’t access, so I called tech support. Four phone transfers later, 40 minutes, and still no one could tell me that the day pass wasn’t transferrable to another device.
My OTHER internet provider starts tomorrow.
I happily leave Comcast behind.

Jesus, seriously, this nefarious company has criminal issues. If you do not monitor your monthly bill, you ARE getting ripped off. And then when you do call about it, multiple times, spending HOURS on the phone to get shit corrected, they float on the «they’ll forget about it» theory and still do not remove the charges they could not justify in the first place.
Modem lease fees doubled, so I bought my own modem. Unsuccessful so far in getting them to stop billing me for a modem of theirs I no longer have.
We all «rent» their cable boxes but when they break, you better not call them to come fix them. Now it’s a $ 70 charge… to fix their own shit YOU are paying for. Then when you battle with them to get the charge removed and they finally agree only after you purchase there extortion monthly «equipment service charge», it never happens. They’ll start charging that monthly service charge but never removed the initial $ 70 fee they agreed to. See a pattern?

Generally I despise Comcast. $ 110 for basic cable, really? But, I will give credit where credit is due. Had a power outage that knocked out cable to two of my TVs. Spent an incredibly frustrating hour and a half trying to troubleshoot the problems with some guy in India who didn’t have a clue. Gave up and scheduled a service call. Expecting another painful encounter I was delighted when a very polite, friendly tech showed up on time. He correctly identified the problems (one fried cable box and one fried power cord). Had things fixed and was out the door in under 15 minutes. Totally delighted.

Overpriced and rude! Makes me sad :(

The day Google Fiber rolls thru Denver will be an amazing day.

Seriously… can there be a zero star rating? For about a year, the Internet has been going out intermittently — from five minutes to 40. It’s been progressively worse lately, but I was a bit lazy about it until my boyfriend moved in. He works from home and it kills him when he’s out of Internet for upwards of two hours. I’ve called before but couldn’t handle the wait times where the end result is they tell me there is an outage in my area. No shit?
Speaking of two hours, that’s how long I spent on the phone today with Comcast. I spoke to SIX people, none of whom actually fixed the Internet. Person number four scheduled a technician — I, being a discerning customer (cheap), ask if I will be charged. «No ma’am, no charge for this.»
Fast forward to person number six after I’ve made it clear that I need some kind of incentive to remain a customer — I’m at my wits end, you see.
Person number SIX tells me that they’ll waive the technician charge. Me: «Excuse me? Person number four told me there was no charge.»
Six: «Yes, they say that, but then the technician is told to charge.»
Me: «So you’re lying to people by telling them there’s no charge and then the technician tries to anyway?»
Six: «Yeah — I’m honestly not sure why they do that.»
What Comcast has here is employees in a horrible customer service environment who are not empowered to help anyone. It’s no surprise that they keep pushing you off to the next person who can «help» you — why would they have any accountability when they know you’ll never be able to talk to THEM again? Terrible customer service. Don’t use them. You’ll regret it.
PS STOP SENDING ME EMAILS ABOUT HOW MUCH FASTER MY INTERNET IS NOW YOU LYING SACKS OF HOOEY!
PPS The best part was when the guy in the Loyalty department tried to UPSELL me instead of giving me a prorated rate or a make good. Your services already don’t work? Sure, let me pay you more!

They have gotten my cable bill wrong for the last 7 months.
it amazes me how poor the customer service is at Comcast.

I’ve had Comcast for many years. From time to time, I have to spend an entire afternoon on the phone straightening something out. It’s either the wrong bill, they billed me too much on automatic pay, didn’t tell me they were stopping auto pay and then charged me a boat-​load of late fees. They have the worst customer service that I have ever run into. It’s a regular occurrence for them to offer me a better package for all the trouble and then have no record of that offer later or possibility of allowing such an offer.
Today I was offered a discount on the next three months of service since they couldn’t refund erroneous late fees. I agreed, paid my bill, and then found out that there is (again) no record of that offer. I have the agent’s employee number and the time that we spoke, but they said that they couldn’t do anything with that. They really treat me terribly.
Their internet service has been reliable, but the billing has cost me many several-​hour phone call sessions.

I would give 0 stars if I could.
They charge you $ 75 a month for 50 Mb/​s download speeds. If you complain because you’re only getting 0.78 Mb/​s, about 1.5% of what you pay for, they offer to have you pay $ 131 instead with no promises of improved services, just wasted time waiting on techs who’ll show up but then tell you there’s nothing they can do.

If you can get ANY other company for cable and/​or internet, do it. Comcast will offer you a somewhat reasonable price in the beginning, and a year later, your bill is triple what it started as.
Unlike other cable providers, you cannot negotiate with them as they have a monopoly in the Denver area, so when you threaten to walk away, they are like «Peace! Have fun without cable or internet.»
When I signed up, I was receiving about 50 basic cable channels and internet for less than $ 40. Two months later they sent out a letter saying that they erroneously gave me those channels. Now I have less than 20 channels (half of them are network TV and the other half are Spanish) and internet for over $ 70/​month. If I want to have the same 50 channels I had plus. I’ve never heard of a basic cable package that doesn’t have MTV, ESPN, VH1, SyFy, Bravo, or FX.

2 years ago I moved my office to a building next door where Comcast did not provide service. Instead of allowing me to terminate my business contract they required me to sign a new one and wait 30 days for service (or pay $ 1000 termination fee!). I was told it was only for another 12 months, but when I called to cancel a year later they said, no, it’s 24 months and that will be $ 1000 to terminate now. I went ahead and switched to Centurylink, continued paying Comcast monthly and now it’s another year later. Called just now to terminate again and am told that it will take 60 days to terminate the account while they continue to bill me. I’ve filed an FCC complaint, I know this kind of treatment cannot possibly be OK — do not get trapped with Comcast!

Just moved to Colorado Springs less than a month ago.
We set up internet and cable through Comcast on a 30 day trial. It didn’t take 30 days to discover that the internet was very slow and the TV packages left much to be desired.
We tried upgrading the internet and it was still just as slow.
Our monthly rate should have been $ 70 and we were told that there would be no charge for install. 3 weeks into the trial we went online and our bill was over $ 200! When asking them why it was because there was a $ 40 install fee and a $ 7 monthly rental of the modem which we were not told about. It would have been more if we were not using our own router.
Knowing that if we didn’t cancel within 30 days I started looking into other options… otherwise we would be locked into a 2 year contract which will increase even more after the first year.
Called Direct TV and their customer service was phenomenal. They explained all of the charges in great detail and were very helpful and best of all honest. We were able to get 225 channels for $ 45 per month.
The most shocking thing to me was that Direct TV was unable to provide internet in our location. Ive called 4 other companies and no one else is able to provide internet! Only Comcast.
Ive never experienced such a monopoly for a commodity in this day an age that is a necessity.
The whole point of having free enterprise offering products and services is to ensure fair pricing, better customer service and to allow consumers to cast their «vote» by awarding their business.
I am surprised that the competition laws allow for this and question why one company has a complete choke hold on the market leaving consumers restricted and forced to go with them.
I will also note that the people I spoke with at Direct TV were not outsourced– I was happy to see that they are employing Americans.
Given the market domination and wealth Comcast has taken — I say taken because it appears there is no other choice– why would they outsource their call center overseas and not give something back to the people by at least employing Americans?
While we could have saved money by staying with Comcast $ 80 per month for both we have chosen to pay more out of principal.
Just for internet with Comcast we will be paying $ 50 a month and Direct TV television we will be paying another $ 50.
We will give Comcast the business that we are forced to and not a penny more.
Hopefully my post will inspire others to push for change as this type of control a business has is not good for the economy nor is it good for the people.

Subscribed to their premium i-​net + tv service. First there was bunch of errors during subscription… apparently they have somebody else with same name as mine or rep misspelled my name, they initially denied both, then i had problems with tech who installed service and charge a whole bunch of bucks for installation –almost 200 $ — WTF !? HE JUST CAME, PLUGGED WIRE IN MY MODEM AND LEFT and 200 $ for this?! cmon!
talked to my friends and they said its common when comcast is just ripping you off… so decided to FkiT!
Called comcast, they said its ok to disconnect within 30 days, which i did. Then next month after i have disconnected i receive bill for that installation… i thiought its kind of an error and just ignored it… but… within a week i started to get calls from collection agency… W_​T_​F?!

I started experiencing intermittent page load errors starting in early 2013, at both my house in Denver and my work in Boulder, Colorado. The problem is an intermittent connection error lasting sometimes up to 5 minutes, then automatically vanishing with no action taken on my part.
I called their service team and they were really nice in saying they would send somebody right out. The service tech arrived on time, and was friendly, ran a few tests and proceeded to tell me the problem was with my Router. I explained to him that I see the problem connected directly to the modem (bypassing the router), an it is an intermittent problem. Finally got tired of arguing with him and gave up. He left and was quite friendly I might add.
To my surprise I get a bill for $ 50 for the service call.
1.) I never asked for a Tech to come to my house (they offered)
2.) I was never told there would be a charge
3.) The problem persists
I thought it would be a quick call to Comcast to get the charge reversed, but was so wrong. It took considerable time on the phone arguing with a their billing rep, and threatening legal action (thank God I have a team of lawyers at my disposal), to get the charges reversed.
Comcast is still the fastest option in my neighborhood (when it works), but it is not that good. I have seen what high speed fiber is like in other countries and this is nowhere close. Why does the US rank 26^th in internet speed, but when anyone mentions government control (or even better free internet) you are labeled a socialist. We all drive on government roads and nobody complains. Actually if we an information «freeway» it would let many of us work from home more often reducing the need for additional road projects.

This company needs Jesus. Here are the issues that I have had in the past year alone starting with the most recent:

Changed address and transferred my service to a new address. Internet worked fine but phone couldn’t make calls or receive them (keep in mind this is a business line.) Too much to deal with right now since I just moved.
1÷3÷12
Wake up to both phone and internet being completely out of service. Reset modem 5 times to see if that will work. Nada.
Call Comcast and wait on hold for 48 minutes.
Comcast lady: «it looks like your equipment wasn’t transferred over on our end… hold please» 26 minutes later…“could you read me your serial number off of the modem?”…“yep, thats the right one” «:hold please»…17 minutes later…“looks like your modem is not working…“
Me: «My internet is working now.»
Comcast lady: «really?» «Cool, I guess we are all set»
Me: «My phone still isnt working.»
Comcast Lady: «Ya, you are going to have to call this activation number to get your phone activated: 1−855−652−3446.»
Me: Can you transfer me, or will I have to wait on hold again?
Comcast Lady: «you will have to wait on hold again, I can’t transfer to that department»
Me: «I guess I will just go fuck myself then?»
Comcast Lady: …
I hang up and call the activation number…
31 minutes later… I get an activation lady that basically cannot help me in any way because it is a technical issue on Comcast’s end. I get transferred to the phone technical support…
46 minutes later… mind you, this all started at 11am. It is now after 2pm.
Comcast guy: «Looks like you are having some trouble with your phone?»
Me: «From the hold times, it looks like everyone is.»
Comcast guy: «I already see what is wrong here and have sent a ticket for it to get fixed. Could take up to 8 hours.»
Me: «Sweet.»
Problem was fixed within 2 hours… phone works… all is good.
Typically, since I use my phone for work, I forward it to my cell when I leave the house. I do this later on in the day and receive calls as usual. I un-​forward the phone when I get home.

I wake up to my cell phone ringing… its a work call. I continue to get work calls on my cell phone all day long. I repeatedly un-​forward the work phone to no avail.
I get on to the xfinity website as you can operate forwarding functions on there as well… all i get is «there is a problem with your xfinity service, please contact the devil when you have a spare 4 hours to kill.» Literally.
Today I get this email:

Tell me you are kidding me Comcast? I want to believe that you have your shit together sometimes because there is no one else to use, but you are college grad reading on a 2^nd grade level right now.
The second Google Fiber Optic gets near me I will literally track them down like a crack-​head to blow them for their service. I will even PAY THEM for the opportunity to gobble nuts and taste their high-​speed.
This is just a small taste of what I have personally gone through in the past 24 hours. If I were to put a number on how long I have cumulatively spent on the phone with these urban terrorists in the 3 years that I have had them, I would guess around 48 hours. That doesn’t include waiting for the techs to show up either, I won’t even get into that.
Here are some other awesome things Comcast has blessed me with:
Changed my phone number without me knowing for 3 days (business phone) It’s cool though because they credited my account…$ 8.46. Boners.
Charged me for cable boxes that I returned and provided them a receipt for. Even threatened to send me to collections. I threatened to send them jars of farts every day for a year. Advantage… me!
Voicemail, call waiting, call forwarding all seem to work just as much as people do in Colorado when it snows. I constantly have to call my phone from my cell to see if my voicemail or call waiting showed up to work. They often say «fuck it», and go boarding.
If you are into getting fucked with, shitted on, lied to, financially raped, antagonized, and getting sent an ungodly amount of spam email telling you to sign up for things that you already have, but are spending more than they advertised so when you call and wait on hold they can tell you that you don’t qualify AHHHH… by all means, use Comcast.

You have got to be kidding me.
Prepare to take the entire day off of work to get a simple cable box installed. Expect that the technicians will have very little idea of what they are doing. And do not expect Comcast to give a shit.
They offered me free pay-​per-​view coupons to compensate for their horrific service. How is it that in such a competitive market, where we see cable company commercials on TV every day, can a company get away with treating its customers so terribly? I mean, the woman who set up my appointment, after telling me that the first representative I spoke to was completely wrong, said that «here at comcast we respect your time. If the technician is late we will credit your account $ 20 and the technician will call you to tell you he is running late.» No one called. They showed up late. A now, it is 2:30pm, and they are telling me they are going to have to come back. My window was 8:00am — 10:00am!
Do yourself a favor and try another company.

I’ll admit, I’m conflicted. For the most part, I’ve been satisfied with Comcast. In the early days, service would go down fairly often which was frustrating. These days, things have settled down and I’ve experienced few outages. Internet speeds are good and their HD quality seems solid. Although when a technician had to come out, it did take another tech visit to solve a signal problem — not good.
Where my real frustration comes from is the issue Jim W. mentions regarding price. Clearly Comcast/​Xfinity pricing is high and getting higher. So, when fighting the urge to switch to satellite, a call to Comcast may result in a «promotional» price that, temporarily, eases the pain. Then, when your six month gift expires, you’re right back where you started unless it’s worse due to another price hike. If they eliminated the constant calls into their call centers for price reductions, reduced customer churn to competitors and kept pricing more reasonable so people might refrain from moving to Internet-​based content and on-​demand programming, they might be better equipped to offer lower pricing consistently.
I would like to see more attractive pricing, maybe in exchange for a commitment from both parties. I know, it may give customers night terrors to consider getting in bed, long-​term with these folks. However, this is, after all, a business relationship and a fair balance should be expected. In this arrangement, we get better pricing we can count on and they get a guaranteed revenue stream for a given period. The pricing games end and we all live happily ever after… until it’s time to renew our agreement.

I could go off for days in regards to my dissatisfaction with Comcast. However, I refuse to do so in efforts to save myself the irritation of having to rehash all of the memories of their incompetent service and products. Also, I have wasted enough of my time trying to resolve their issues that I’d rather not waste any more with a lengthy review. From waiting for service repairs at home (4 hour windows), talking to representatives informing me to make sure my cable is screwed in or my TV is on (no sh**, I’m not new), and driving to their facilities to return defective and unused products, I will refrain from allowing them to occupy any more of my time.
For those of us who own condo units that are prohibited by their HOA from having dishes, we are at the mercy of Comcast, who run a monopoly in regards to cable TV services. They obviously know they have the upper hand and therefore aren’t willing to budge. Over the span of 3+ years, I was charged unknowingly for one extra box that was sent to me without me ever asking for one. What wasn’t a surprise to me, was that they refused to reimburse me for the box just as they refused to reimburse me for the multiple times when half if not all of my channels went out for weeks and months on multiple occasions because a squirrel was eating through the cable.
If not for needing sports and the occasional show on the Travel, History, or Food Network channels, I would not hesitate canceling my service. I feel sitting at home twittling my fingers as entertainment might not be as bad as tolerating Comcast’s agonizing product and service.
There you go. I tried my best to write a one sentence or one paragraph review, but with such a bad taste in my mouth after their multiple inconveniences, I couldn’t control myself.

I haven’t owned cable in nearly 2 years. I decided that I’d take advantage of Comcast’s $ 29.99/month deal. Comcast scheduled me for 7am-​8am this past Saturday. Erm yeah, so…
8:00am-The tech hasn’t arrived. Since I live on Grant and there was an Art show on my street, and it was rainy, I figured he may just be a couple of minutes behind so I call dispatch. They told me the tech should be there in 15 minutes, apologized and told me I’d receive a $ 20 late arrival credit.
8:45am-Still no tech. I call dispatch again, and am on the phone for about 10 minutes with them while they are trying to figure out what is going on. They tell me he should be there momentarily.
9:30am-Still waiting. I call again. Apparently the tech came by, but couldn’t get in, so instead of calling me he left. This is where I start to lose it. They tell me they’ll get someone there between 10:30−11am. I tell them to get a manager. The manager agrees to remove the installation fee and still give me the $ 20 late arrival credit.
10:45am-The tech arrives. After speaking with him, I find out that not only is he not my original tech, but it was his day off. They called the poor guy since he lived in my neighborhood to see if he could come over and take care of me. And HE did, and HE was wonderful. In fact, he gave me his card and told me to call him whenever I have an issue and he’ll take care of it.
So yes, the independent contractor I got happened to be AWESOME. If I could write a Unilocal review for him, I would. But BOO on Comcast for thinking that the only solution to this situation was to call in this guy on his day off.
I really wish I had options in the world of TV. Unfortunately, my HOA doesn’t allow satellite dishes so Comcast is my only option.

So… sometimes when I’m typing in «Comcast,» I Freudianly reverse a few of the letters, so it comes out «Cocmast.» I always snicker to myself and think, «How appropriate!.»
Their service/​installation hours are inconvenient. In order to get someone to come on a weekend (ya know, when I DON’T work), I had to book several weeks out. WEEKS. That’s a long time to be out of touch!
My «brand-​new» HD box doesn’t work properly, and it never has. I’ve learned to live with its cute little quirks, even though they mean I can’t change the channel for about 10 minutes after turning my TV on, or sometimes having it decide I want to watch OnDemand programming, or sometimes deciding that when I DO want to watch OnDemand, that I really DON’T. I know I can take the box back to the office, but I just don’t bother because I don’t want to deal with the hassle. In their defense, the customer service reps at their service center are very nice and helpful.
But my main beef is their pricing. All you’re doing is running a cable, literally. Why is that costing you more this month than last month, and more than it did last year? The cable industry is such an unbelievable ripoff, it’s ridiculous.
We’ve never had any issues with our Internet service– we’ve never had any interruptions or outages, and only very short disruptions in the cable.
But for the price, I’d expect my damned cable box to cook me dinner at least once a week, and it doesn’t, so for that, you only get 2 stars. And that’s generous, Cocmast.
