This is my favorite fish and chips place in the US. The people here are crazy Brits and the Cod is out of this world!

De-lish fish! I haven’t tried any other fish and chips in Denver, but this place just hits the spot. I got the half cod order one day, and the full the next — if you have a healthy appetite the full order may still be a bit much for you(6 peices), but it is nice to have that much to just plow into. The«chips» are not all that much to crow about, but they were tasty and crispy. Simple, tasty, and a little bit pricey. But totally worth it. Also, kids eat free on Sundays!

Best fish and chips east of London! Great chowder and bangers & mash is outstanding as well.

I absolutely love GB’s. You really can not go wrong with any of the meal options. A half is more than sufficient in the cod and tilapia. The combo is also really proportioned well. A little pricey but, as I say you do get a lot for your money. If you get the chips with your order do yourself a huge favor and order the curry sauce. Damn! Staff is always friendly and social. I will continue to be a supporter. However, if your visiting for the first time, make sure to grab a table before ordering. The place can fill up really quick. See y’all next time.

AMAZING food. Absolutely incredible. The cod is the best. Also, the cheesecake is pretty bomb.

First time I went there yesterday. The staff was really nice and helpful, nice little place. I decided I didn’t want fish so I ordered their shepherds pie. It was ready pretty quick, served in an alarming black plastic TV tray. I tasted it, was pretty bland. I knew it was microwaved by the texture of the potatoes. I was highly disappointed that a place that serves British fare couldn’t make a palatable shepherds pie. Though the staff is why the rating is so high.

Some of the best fish and chips I’ve had in a while. Nice batter. Tasty fries. I went with the half cod and chips. With a soda it came to $ 10. I would go back for sure.

Came in to show the hubby some«real» fish and chips, and left very satisfied. The food: I wisely went for the half cod, while the hubby went for the full. That was… a lot of fish for two folks, I’ll tell ya that. But it was delicious! Crispy flaky cod in a really tasty batter complimented by tangy coleslaw and crispy chips. The one thing I’d mention is that I feel like they don’t make their own chips. I’m not sure why, but I wish they did. They’re «alright», but they could be mind blowing. Drinks were solid, service was outstanding – we will be back for sure.

Let’s start this off with a positive note instead of a negative one as I usually do. I’m giving this place a 3 star out of the 5 based on the quality of the soda .I went through each flavor and tasted it and we ended up with Mountain Dew. It is the best mountain Dew I have ever drank. Now down to the nitty gritty of the greasy fish it wasn’t bad like other places but it was still pretty greasy slaw was alright bigger pieces than I’m used to the mashed potatoes that I was surprised that was even on the menu were actually very decent I would say in the future for them to put more butter and to put heavy cream in them .We ordered the tilapia and the squid combo platter I am a squid freak. I was actually pretty pleased with the squid but it was oily as well, all I can say is what do you expect when you order fried food… I wish they would left it up a little bit longer so it wouldn’t be so greasy and for the price it is definitely a little high almost 17 bucks for one person. And the waitress had a little bit of a snotty attitude didn’t like that at all!!! when she was picking up our plastic baskets, and the sides were extra moolah! Hmmmm don’t know if I would come here again. This is something for everybody to chew on to think about. I have to add one last thing as we were walking out the waitress came and looked at the table to see if we left her a tip, she did nothing for us the whole time that we were there all she did it take our plastic baskets away from us that I had mentioned earlier and I had said thank you to her for taking the baskets away from us and she didn’t even respond to me I am NOT leaving her a tip for doing nothing I will never come back here again I am putting this down to one star.

It’s been a very long time since we’ve been here but the woman friend I have lunch with on Thursdays has been bugging me to go for fish and chips so today, despite my phobia for consuming that much grease in one sitting, I acquiesced. Arrived about 1:30 and several tables were occupied by one person so we ended up at the window counter — seating pretty much sucks. Sadly, nothing much has changed except the prices which I think are a little off the charts. I could be wrong about this but I’m pretty sure chips used to be included — not anymore. Sides are extra. So, the greasy cod, which I’m still regretting, with a small side of cole slaw and the extra charge of $ 1 for enough tartar sauce to go around was over $ 16. She had a small order of cod and an order of sausage rolls — $ 14 something. Water to drink and lunch was $ 30 — um no. She ended up taking most of my order home with her so I’m going to have a salad for dinner and hope for the best. No more fish for her!

Walking into this place and hearing Peter Tosh was a nice surprise. Fried cod was excellent and the cod portions were generous. Mashed potatoes had a nice garlic and butter flavor. Tartar sauce was awesome and not too sweet. Sweet tartar sauce is one of my pet peeves and seems to be unavoidable in the South. Tartar here comes in a tiny container. Had to ask for extra tartar twice. Would definitely return. Might try a meat pie next time. Restaurant has a pretty good view of a lake too.

Delicious crispy crunchy battered Cod, fried fresh, served hot, and piled high! This was a real late night find, and a score with my very particular British boyfriend. Major points for Alice. Late on a Saturday night, at 2 minutes to closing time, we were welcomed into the very casual and heavily painted, heavily decorated with overtly anglophile paraphernalia(football(Soccer) scarves, jerseys). The token signed Bronco photo seemed out of place. We ordered the half-meals and ate every bite– they were HUGE but we were starving. I couldn’t imagine ordering or needing the full order, ever. We rocked out to the Clash, the Cure, the Beatles and Bob Marly while our order was dumped into a giant vat to fry. A few minutes later, we had our dinner piping hot, so hot we couldn’t even dig in for a minute or two. The chips were deemed authentic– big fat chips that satisfied after a night of carousing. Ever the lady, I had coleslaw, and it was fresh, crunchy, and complimentary to my giant chunks of cod, even that late at night. This was a great, tasty find and we will be back! Note from the Brit: No self-respecting Chippie would ever serve their fish-n-chips in a copy of the telegraph.

First time visit and was very impressed. Ordered the half meal of Cod Fish-n-Chips, fries, and a soda. I was told beforehand the whole meal will have you taking a nap under your desk at work. Bright soccer jerseys everywhere — check, soccer on TV — check, very polite staff — check, and plenty of seating — check. Our party of 3 hit the front door at high noon. We stood in line for about 3 minutes, ordered, were given our drink cups, made it to the soda machine and found a place to sit. Although it was busy, there was still plenty of places to sit and others are right, when the nice weather really hits, more seating outside. We BSd for about 10 minutes and our food was brought out. The half order was the perfect amount of food. Also, they had tartar sauce and vinegar at each table. I have been to other Fish-n-Chips places where you have to ask for vinegar. Really? I need the vinegar! Greasy? Yep. Healthy? Probably not, but so full of flavor and the damn stuff melts in your mouth. Waitress stopped back several times to check on us and chit chat. For the amount of food you receive, the prices were reasonable. This might be my new favorite place to eat lunch. Well done!

Not a bad place. I really can’t stand fish and chips. I got surprised by my husband and I had no other option but to go. To be honest I wasnt happy and I wasn’t planning on eating anything. It isn’t a very big place. You get more options of seating when it is a nice day and you can sit on the patio. We had to stand for most of our waiting and almost didn’t get a table. You might not get a table when you get in there. Even with the signs that say get cozy you don’t see many friendly people who will let you sit with them. In regards to the food I was pleasantly surprised. My husband got a variety basket. It included cod, tilapia, shrimp scallops and something else I dont remember. I would have to say it was the best fish and chips I have ever had. I would definitely go back to have some fish and chips again. My husband also ordered me a sausage basket. There was a spicy mustard and fried beans with it. I really did not like the sausage it was a very unique sausage almost tasted like it was made with bread inside. The mustard was really hot but I really liked it. The baked beans were typical and I think that they were canned. I give it a four stars because of seating and the sausage basket that I didn’t like very well. But for being a fish and chips place, it was the best fish and chips I’ve ever had and I would be okay with going back.

No complaints here. Last night my boyfriend and I tried out GBs for the first time, and got there around 8:30pm. It wasn’t packed, but that is also because it was snowing and they close at 9pm. The woman at the front taking orders was super cool and helped us out. We ended up sharing a full order of Cod Fish-N-Chips, and the bangers with mashed potatoes & caramelized onions. Both were awesome. The mustard that came with the bangers is intense, but we both liked it. It overpowered the taste of the bangers, but it added a nice kick. I could go with or without the mustard. The Fish-N-Chips was perfect. The fish was perfectly cooked with a nice crisp outer layer. The fries(chips) weren’t anything special, but it all went great together. Will totally go back.

We liked the ambience immediately with the brightly colored futbol jerseys and English décor. The fish and chips basket was recommended to us to try the cod. The cod was good and the batter was crisp. The french fries could have been better, they were nothing special in that they were frozen steak fries. Abetter touch would be fresh cut fries. We tried a cornish pasty which was a little bit of a disappointment when compared to the ones we had in England. The pastry was a bit dry and the filling was ground beef, carrots, potatoes and was very salty. We had pasties before with a rich gray inside. I will say that it was temperature appropriate… hot and steaming when we got it. We had the clam chowder that is made in house but the chowder was a bit watery and a big difference from the Ivar’s Clam Chowder we are used to in the West Coast. Good selection of beers.

I have traveled the world. This fact is only important regarding this review as during my travels I have had proper exceptional Fish & Chips. American establishments tend to make mistakes regarding presentation, incorrect batter, and they often use previously frozen fish. Not at GB. Bar none GB Fish & Chips in Denver is the best in Colorado and potentially the United States. Perfectly batter fried cod, prawns, oysters, and scallops. On Tuesdays they have dollar fish day, a dollar a piece. They also have a decent bar, tons of TV’s with sports on at all times, and other delicious British offerings such as Meat Pies and Sausage Rolls. If you love Fish & Chips then this is the only choice. Forget the others and get to BG Fish & Chips.

Everything at GB is greasy greasy greasy, but that is why it is so amazing. Yours fingers are covered in it, but your taste buds and stomach are very happy. I really don’t think you could go wrong with anything that you order here. Friendly staff and they are super quick at making your food. I typically go with the tilapia and Brian gets the squid. With a side order of the sausage rolls, baked beans and a few beers, this meal is complete. They have the best fish and chips I have ever had. I highly recommend visiting sometime.

Ive passed by several GB Fish and Chips locations in the past, but this is my first visit. I ordered the half order of scallops with fries and a Session beer. The food was pretty fast, not incredibly greasy, and pretty decent quality. I also really like the quirkyness of the place. Lots of soccer jerseys hanging from everywhere. Its pretty cool that they have happy hour in the weekends too($ 2 Session beers). I wish they would offer a ½ and ½ side option(to maybe get fries and crisps, instead of having to pick one).
