This is the poorest excuse of a neighborhood coffee shop. The staff is arrogant, rude, condescending and flat out lazy. It echoes horribly inside so it was impossible to hear myself think with all of the other patrons chatting it up. Although the tea selection is notable, I do not recommend visiting here. They have a variety of pastries and baked goods, but no real options for calorie-conscious patrons. Each question I asked was replied with a huff and puff and numerous eye-rolls. And then for them to expect gratuity!!! For WHAT??? They barely did as much as hand me my drink… in fact, they didn’t. They set it on the counter and blew me off. I did, in fact, leave gratuity because I felt obligated with the time of year this is. It was more or less like giving spare change to someone asking for it on the street. Even though I live only one block away, I WILLNOT be revisiting this establishment again under any circumstance. This place makes the deplorable Starbucks look good.

Friendly baristas, great lattes… a great little spot. Lots of people sitting and chatting as well as getting work done. The patio would be great in warmer weather! I’ll be back when I’m in the neighborhood!

This is a great local coffee shop! The coffee is really good, and the owner Genesee is often there working behind the counter herself. She’s extremely knowledgeable about coffee and is passionate about her business. This is a great coffee joint in a great location!

Great location and atmosphere is nice. Perfect patio and pet friendly to say the least. Coffee was OK and service could be better. Maybe a little coaching on customer service is needed and you might want to consider personality when hiring.

The location is fantastic, and the seating areas(indoor and outdoor) are great, but the coffee just isn’t that good. After my third visit I had to say that(which I don’t get, because usually I like Novo). The staff is nice enough and the wi-fi is free. But for my coffee preferences, I might venture down the road a bit more.

Two stars for being accommodating. When I said the iced Americano tasted burnt, they gave me an iced coffee, which was simply bad tasting, not burnt. This Novo brand of coffee, it no good.

The manager is rude and now that they sell Corvus Coffee, which is expensive and lousy, it’s not worth visiting. That’s sad considering the location is great. If you’re reading this Mr. Burridge, fire the guy who calls himself manager(works days, is too cowardly to give out his first name, but is fantastically rude) and sell something better than Novo or Corvus. The Dazbog guys may be sketchy, but their coffee was better than what you’re selling now.

I live down the street from this coffee shop and would visit it regularly when it was Dazbog. I was excited for a change after reading about Genesee serving local coffee and pastries. After three visits I think I can safely say I will miss Dazbog. Dazbog never had the best pastries, but I always had an excellent latte/espresso drink. The pastries at Genesee are not very good, and sadly the espresso drinks aren’t either. I had a decent cup of coffee one morning, but it wasn’t enough to make me return. Not sure what the future holds for this space, but I would love a great coffee shop back!

Disappointed. I loved Dazbog but was open to loving another. This isn’t it. The food is local, but terrifically overpriced; espresso was weak and flavorless, and overall unsatisfying. The service was fine on my visit, and the patio still can’t be beat on a warm day, but there’s no other draw for me to come here.

I find them exceptionally friendly! With great coffee, much better than the bitter brown water of Dazbog. They are a welcome addition to the Congress Park neighborhood. Usually you’ll see a good crowd on the outside patio enjoying some of their food and a cup good coffee. They have organic milk, almond milk and soy milk with zero up charge.

This is my first visit since the revamp. The old Dazbog’s was my favorite neighborhood coffee shop. When I came in this morning, I sensed something different just from my interaction with the cashier guy: he didn’t smile, nor greet me, nor even make eye contact. Then he took my money and just stared at the register before noticing me still standing there. He looked up at me, confused, before I repeated my order: a large coffee. He was like, Oh yeah, then went and got it. Very weird. And rude. Not to mention the coffee tasted off, which is when I looked around and noticed the new signs and though, Ah, poor Dazbog. What happened! The place suddenly looks bland and unfriendly. I’ll be checking out the coffee shops on Colfax now unless things get turned around here. Avoid!

Very disappointed since the changeover. Staff isn’t nearly as friendly, and the coffee tastes bitter and weak.

If you live in Denver and follow the«coffee shop scene,» so to speak, you are familiar with the controversy between coffee franchisor, Dazbog, and several of its franchisees. This coffee shop used to be a Dazbog franchisee. These owners of the Dazbog shop decided to no longer honor their contract with Dazbog, and the two sides are now in litigation. The owners decided to align themselves with«Genesee Coffee,» which was also once a Dazbog franchisee in the Tech Center, but is now a stand alone shop. What is nice about the shops is that they offer coffees and espresso, from two local roasters: «Novo» and«Corvus.»(You might want to call ahead to see which they are serving that day because they seem to offer only one or the other at times.) Many coffee shops and restaurants in the area serve Novo coffee and, they have their own cafes, as well. Their coffees and espresso is certainly a cut above what the chains offer but in our subjective opinion, not comparable to Kaladi Bros. And Pablo’s espresso, is número uno for us. But we really like all the Corvus products. Yes, they only have lighter roasts but they are a high quality roaster. We will frequent this shop when they are brewing Corvus. I’d like to see a coffee shop in Denver offer«Kicking Horse» coffees. They are a Canadian roaster and one can buy their coffees in several retail outlets. Kicking Horse«Kick Ass» and their, «Hoodoo Jo,» are the two best dark-roasted coffees we have ever had. Try the the whole bean of either one, if you are so inclined. I think that you will be very happy that you did.
