Grease Monkey

Two stars because they did, as far as i can tell, a decent job on the oil change. However they were unorganized and ended up taking close to an hour and a half, an hour and 15 minutes of that was just waiting. He said all they could do was garunteedl the time it takes after its pulled in the bay. When asked if there was anything he could do with the price he got defensive and said im not going to argue with you. Not professional, and a bad business practice.

Arrived at 8:23 on a Wednesday for a high-​mileage oil change on my 2007 Forester. I was greeted right away by Nate who professionally and clearly explained my options for an oil change. I did not feel significant pressure on the up sell; everything was written clearly on his clipboard. There were no issues with speaking too quickly or condescendingly.
There was a clean waiting room with water and coffee. No burned coffee smell that’s so common. Jessie, the technician, came in around 8:40 and explained recommended services but again no high-​pressure and told me the service would be completed shortly. I was checked out and back on the road at 8:50. The total high mileage oil change was $ 55.00
My only negative is that they do have you get out of your car for the service. I know this is an industry standard, but prior to moving I was using a Valvoline Oil Change Center in Colorado Springs where you could remain in the vehicle. It always seemed more efficient to me and nice to not have someone else drive your car moving the seat, etc.
I’m definitely comfortable going back to this Grease Monkey next time.

This is my second review of this Grease Monkey this year — I’ve been coming here for a few years & have come to know Chris, Brandon and the team on a first name basis. I am VERY particular about my vehicle — some would say persnickety — often wanting to personally inspect the chassis myself to validate/​confirm any leaks or issues … I drive service folks crazy at times — I admit. :D
That said, Chris and team have always been so professional and helpful — always humoring my sometimes obsessive behavior — but always ensuring I leave with my concerns being addressed and satisfied I’ve received value for money.
Over the years I’ve come to trust that these guys walk the talk — I highly recommend them and will continue to support their business in the years to come.

This place is OIL CHANGE ONLY. I learned the hard way. Can you afford to be ripped up financially, combined with mediocre and dishonest service? I can’t.
Rating for oil change: 4 stars.
Everything else: 2 stars.
Therefore I’m rating my experience at 3 stars for the experience overall.
I used to love Grease Monkey, great, quick prompt service. Turns out they are only good for cleaning your windshield and changing your oil.
The Good: Free coffee, AC waiting area, cookies, very polite staff. When I drove in I was promptly greeted by a courteous Grease Monkey Tech. When I left, they opened the door to my car and again, very courteous. A basic oil change for 42.99 $ is not outrageous.
The Bad: I happen to be the car owner who owns a vehicle that will get transmission maintenance for the lifetime of the car. Meaning, the transmission was flushed on my Sienna, at a about 55k and I have committed to be diligent about transmission flushes and drains. Every 20K-​30K I will probably do a transmission drain and fill. At this point, 86K, I decided that a torque flush would work best with since the transmission, inmho is probably robust enough to handle a flush. So I SPECIFICALLY asked for a Torque flush, which runs at high speed and pressure and they did not do a torque flush!!! When I asked about it, the shop tech in charge told me that he did not want to deal with setting up the torque machine because it was a hassle with the adapters and taking the machine out was also a hassle. So they have a torque flush machine and they don’t even use it? Even when it was specifically requested by the customer? Instead, they rigged up hoses to their air pressure system, which is WAY weaker, and did a flush. I asked again about the torque flush, and at this point, the shop tech started to tell me that it would be bad for the vehicle, because it can loosen rubber gaskets, etc. Yes, a torque flush is strong, but I preferred that, at this point, because I think my Sienna Transmission is well maintained, and the interior is robust enough to handle a high pressure torque flush. The reality is, he was lazy, and did not want to set up the machine. Regardless, they charged me 130 dollars for a flush, which is typical, but they didn’t actually «flush» the transmission, with the power of a torque flush machine which is what I thought I was paying for in the first place!
Also Bad: «The Air Filter gimmick» If you are sitting there at Grease Monkey and they show you your air filter and tell you it’s due to be changed DON’T DO IT. Instead, go on Amazon, and buy a filter for $ 15 and install yourself (takes seconds), YouTube instructions abound. They got me! They showed me my dirty air filter and asked to changed it out. How much? 39 Dollars! For me to put in an air filter myself, for this vehicle, simply involves removing the glove box (one simple screw) and that’s it! 3 minutes of work.
The grand total for an oil change, with the conventional cheapest oil possible, an air filter, and a transmission NON-​flush was $ 225. A true ripoff. If you need at oil change, go to grease monkey, maybe even provide your own oil, and it will be cheaper. Google your car’s make and see how easy it is to change your own air filter, and how much cheaper they are on Amazon. If you need to get a transmission flush, go to an actual decent mechanic, who will use the actual machines they have to get the work done, instead of being too lazy to use the actual machine. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL.
Bottom line: Just don’t buy an air filter here, don’t get transmission flush here.

I have been coming here for probably 20 years. I used to have my business in the neighborhood but four years ago I moved to Aurora. I still drive across town to have these guys work on my vehicle. I even asked them before I go to the dealer for work that’s how much I trust them.

I don’t expect much when visiting a car maintenance place, but this one exceeded all (if any) of my expectations. Sure, no one really truly enjoys going to get their oil changed, wiper fluid replaced, or any of the above, but Grease Monkey manages to make it a lovely experience.
From the really kind employees that greet you at the door and don’t make you feel stupid at all for entering the garage the completely wrong way to the cookies (okay — maybe I had 1… or 2… or 3) and free coffee inside — they have the process down. However, that brings me to my only issue, which isn’t their fault at all — they just need a smoother way to enter and exit their strangely located garage. There’s not only much room to maneuver you car in and out of there, but not a lot of signage to indicate what to do, as well.
Nevertheless, they don’t overcharge you for this you don’t need and seem to just want to provide the best service for you. Plus, they were quick and so friendly. This is definitely going to be my go-​to spot for all car maintenance.

Excellent service from Chris and the entire gang. Clean waiting room, TV’s, coffee, water, etc. The wait wasn’t too bad. I’ll be going back there for sure.

I had my alternator belt changed and was very happy with the service. They were friendly, helpful and efficient without pushing anything on me. I had my oil changed the day before at a Grease Monkey in Golden and found them to be pushy with services and promotions. I’m sticking to this Grease Monkey from now on.

The manager Christopher C. was extremely helpful regarding questions I had and made me feel like he was interested in helping and not just doing his job. So much so that I actually asked for their names for the purpose of this review lol.
A tech named Abyie also was willing to make sure I understood everything. I had an issue with a damaged front headlight housing and he voluntarily made a call to a salvage yard to see if they had the part I needed. I was so impressed with that.
The staff was welcoming and left me feeling satisfied and happy that I gave them my business.
There’s no comparison to the unprofessional Capital Hill Grease Monkey right down the street on 1010 E. Colfax Ave. Their customer service was so bad I had to leave. It turned out to be great though because I wound up at the Grease Monkey on 8^th Ave and will give them my business from now on.

This location is amazing. Every worker is friendly and helpful, and they don’t try to push the services on you. They go above and beyond each time. Recently, I went in to have a wiper blade inspected, and they ended up fixing the wiper blade, declogging my wiper fluid tube, reinflating my tire, and replacing the tire cover all for FREE. After you go there the first time, they will mail you a coupon every three months!

The guys at this location are the BEST. I was very impressed with how knowledgable the staff was and they got me in and out in less than 10 minutes. It was by far the BEST service I have ever had. These guys are top notch! Thanks guys!

These guys did a great job. I was in-​and-​out of here in the amount of time they told me I would be. They didn’t push for other services but merely brought them up to my attention. Everyone was super professional and courteous and I had a great all around experience.
A couple notes. First, my mechanic told me you go to these places only for an oil change. My review is only for the oil change. Second, the 1-​star reviews are from ‘yelpers’ with no real name, no friends, and only 1 review. Makes you wonder…
The only thing I don’t like about this place is that they clean your car but they ALWAYS use a dirty rag on your windows so I come out of there with smeared (interior) windows rather than clean ones. They either need to not do it or change out the rags. They’re not doing me any favors.

This is the spot. No up sales, no bullsh! t, the real deal.

Quick oil change. price is higher than most quick oil change chains, because of the extras such as topping off fluids, other checks, washing windows, vaccuming car, etc. Check online for coupons to save some cash. They will also try to upsell you while you wait, but when I said I wasn’t intersted, they left it alone. Customer service was good and I was out of there in like 10 – 15 minutes.

This is my go-​to Grease Monkey… when I get my card for $ 5 off I head over.
Their customer service is top notch. I called before heading over and asked if they had an air filter for my car (they didn’t last time). So they looked and told me no. I asked them if I dropped off my car and walked over to the Napa across the street would they put it in for me and they said sure. So I told them I’d be right over.
Ten minutes later I pull up and they said «we went ahead and purchased the air filter for you». Not only did they purchase it for me, they charged me for the filter at cost, which since they get a discount at Napa and I don’t, it was about $ 4 cheaper.
Not only that, they’ll top off your fluids and put air in your tires between visits. Yes, I’m a fan.

I’m not saying this is the best automotive experience I’ve had, but after my run of bad luck, it certainly was a pleasant change of pace.
Had my oil changed here not too long ago. They got me in and out of there in no time, and all the guys helping out in the garage were polite and seemed genuinely nice. The manager took my info (and money) at the counter, and another one of the service associates took the time to talk to me about a belt that needed replacing and my air filter that was nasty. They vacuumed the inside of my car, too. No small feat.
The cost was fair and you can download coupons from their website.
A few weeks after getting the oil changed and steering fluid topped off, the car started screaming again on the cold days. You know that noise. Ear piercing, horrible screaming. So, I brought the car back. The guys took a look at it and explained to me that while two of the belts had recently been replaced, the third belt was in tatters and was the reason behind the squealing. They said they could replace it, but that it would take a couple hours. No sweat.
I brought it in the next morning and dropped it off. An hour later, the owner of the franchise calls to apologize to me for having to charge me labor costs, and noted that had the previous guys who replaced my belts been ethical, they would have mentioned that you have to take out the alternator and a bunch of other big pieces in order to reach all three belts. He said the AC belt did not just suddenly fall apart. Had they taken care of all three at the same time, it would have saved me at least $ 60.

I just told him I trusted they wouldn’t take advantage of me and to do what they needed to do. $ 180 later, I have a car that doesn’t scream and an air filter that is stunning. And they vacuumed the whole thing out again.
This is why public transit is such a viable option.

I am a busy female… I had a worker take my infiniti to Grease Monkey out of pure convenience. I gave him cash and said: please change my oil and have my tires rotated. I was going on a road trip and figured it was time to get my 4 month old tires rotated.
When my assistant returned he informed me they wouldnt rotate my tires without an allignment. I was annoyed and called to voice my annoyance… the guy on the phone informed me that they promise to do only what is needed. He said i did not need a rotation but it looked like I could use an allignment (a service he wasnt going to make any money on because they dont do allignments). I liked his honesty and thanked him for saving me $ 30.

This place is a chain but they seem pretty consistant.
They are nice– even when I’m not wearing a short skirt.
They are super fast– oil change about 10 mins or less.
Complimentary bottled water and cookies in the waiting area.
Good hours– From 7am– 7pm
Reasonably priced and coupons are usually floating around in junk mail
They clean your windows, vacuum and leave a candy on the dash.
I just went to this location in distress because my rear tire would not inflate! Most shops close at 6pm and it was 630pm!!! I was so stoked they were open and saved me from driving home on a flat because my valve was bad.
