We were looking at buying a bike for my wife. After visiting a few other shops with used road bikes, new cruisers, etc we came back to Greentree to buy a hybrid for her. Super affordable and a great ride. Greg also helped tune up my old road bike that rides great now. We’ve been in a few times and he’s always friendly and consultative. Prices seem very affordable and fair.

I’ve started taking all of our bikes(MTB, road, cruisers) to Greg for tune ups because he charges a bit less than the other bike shops, but does much better work. Last year, he built new road wheelsets for both my wife and I for 20% less than I could find them anywhere else. Fantastic service, great location and fair prices.

This is the cutest little bike shop! I have purchased two bikes over the past 10 years at Greentree. They have the best selection of quality retro cruisers. They guy who runs the shop is very helpful. Its truly a joy to shop at a local small business like Greentree.

Booohh— what a dissapointment. Almost $ 90 to reassemble a bike that was boxed up by another shop and shipped here!!! Whoa! Nevermind this guy isn’t exactly Mr. Friendly. Perhaps because the shop is on the little fancy part of Pearl Street? Or maybe he thought we were two dumb ladies… I dunno. But I DO know that $ 90 to put on pedals, handlebars, seat, and tires is just a litttttlee steeeep! So… if you’ve bucks to spare, go ahead. Otherwise, maybe find another shop… I shan’t be back:(

The customer service here is great. Honestly a refreshing experience. The owner, Greg, was patient with my many questions regarding my relatively inexpensive repair. His assistant was also friendly and knowledgeable about bicycles, not in a condescending way. They took a trade-in bike of mine at a fair price. I also had service done on a 15 year old bike, and I am really happy with the way it turned out. They went the extra mile and put a battery in my speedometer computer, and didn’t even charge me for it. I would definitely suggest this place for honest and fair business.

I stopped in with a friend a couple of weeks ago as she needed a tire tube and decided to also shop for a water bottle. We were greeted promptly on a busy Saturday afternoon. The shop is pretty small and the selection is also small. They seemed to carry some current bikes, but several bikes looked older(perhaps used, not sure?) and in good condition. The store itself is a little cramped if there’s more than 2 to 3 people inside. I doubt if I would come in to actually shop for a bike, but might stop in for some supplies. Just remember that you won’t have a large selection to choose from and you should be just fine here.

solid, consistent repair work. the guys who work there seem to take their jobs very seriously, don’t expect to be coddled, but don’t mistake serious for rude either. old-fashioned service is the name of the game.(they still handwrite receipts here!) also have a great selection of accessories — yeah, I paid a little more for a headlight than I would at Target, but this place is walkable /bikeable from my home, and I actively support my local businesses.

So after failed attempt of riding my bike around Wash Park & having to walk back home with a gimp bike, I dropped Specialized off here Thurs morning to repair the blown tube, turned out it was a commercial size staple that ended up penetrating the tire then in to the tube itself. Anyways, initially he said it be 15min, I told him no hurries that I was gonna hit the gym and be back. Upon arrival he recalled who I was, chatted me up, assembled one little thing on Specialized and chatted me up a bit and handed me a trail guide for Denver, after I mentioned that I had just moved here from SF. Gotta love AND support your local neighborhood gems!

I was really happy to find Greentree Cyclery a short half mile away from my house. Now I am no bike snob, and will admit, I don’t know much about bikes, but I do know when I am being taken! The first time I moseyed into Greentree was to buy a bike map, I should have gone with my first instinct, I looked to my friend and said, «I didn’t get a good vibe from that guy.» But I am not one who is quick to judge so I wanted to give the place another chance. Well a few months later I took my bike in to get a «check-up,» for $ 75, which went just fine, I was pleased with the results. I would say about 2 months later, 2 months in which I did not do a lot of riding at all. I had to bring my bike back in because the gear shifter was now working properly and my back tire was rubbing against the frame, so I took my short half mile ride to Greentree. $ 40 later, I rode my bike home just to find out that NONE of my bike«issues» had been addressed. I was still having the same problem shifting and my back tire was still lopsided. To add a little push to the shove… when I was talking with the owner about possibly getting a new bike, at a REASONABLE price, he did not offer any helpful advice or information, all he said was, and I quote«it is like buying a bottle of wine, each one is different,» that’s it… and then a «I ride bikes of a much higher caliber, so I wouldn’t know what to tell you about those(reasonably priced) bikes.» AND he had no mountain bikes at all to demo. I will be getting a new bike, but not from this place…

Remember watching«High Fidelity» and seeing how condescending the guys in the shop were to those poor fools who dared come in and ask for something not quite up to their standards? Yeah, that’s what you get at Greentree Cyclery. «Trade in your old Clunker» says their website, but beware! Unless you do some serious research and are willing to sell for a lot less than you’ll get on either CL or eBay then you aren’t going to get nearly what that«clunker» is worth by selling it to Greentree. And if you are in the market for a vintage bike go elsewhere. Their prices are steep for what they’ve got. It’s a cool looking shop and if you are just browsing I’d say it’s worth a look, but if you are serious about buying go somewhere that will give you service without a sneer and give you fair price.
