I have used Handyman Connection three times in recent memory and all three times the service was impeccable. Nothing but good service from the office and the contractors. The first time I used them was to renovate a bathroom. I hired my own plumber to do the plumbing work but they ripped out 1946 era tile around the tub and shower and replaced the backer board and tile and were able to match the tile size and color that was in the rest of the bathroom. They also ripped out old flooring and put in ceramic tile and added baseboard. I have nothing but good things to say about that project. Another time I needed flood ruined baseboard replaced in my basement and they sent someone who had years of experience and did the job quickly and perfectly. He was also very pleasant to deal with. And the other time I needed some old electrical line cut out of my backyard and removed. Quick and easy and I thought all three projects were very reasonably priced. I would definitely use them again. The company is a clearinghouse for different contractor types. There is work they won’t do(i.e. windows due to EPA rules). They take care of the background checks and you only pay them for labor. The contractor will go buy the supplies and you pay for them. So you know you are not being overcharged for materials.

I had Handyman Connection do a job for me once and although it was pretty expensive, I was happy with the outcome. This being said, I called them again to get a Pella casement window that had been jimmied open repaired. The contact person insisted that if it had anything to do with a window that there was«ZEROTOLERANCE» and due to EPA rules, I had to have a lead test done on my house. I tried to explain that this had only to do with the operating mechanism(window crank) and the hinge on the window. The contact person was ADAMANT about the fact that I would have this test done, so foolishly I did. $ 150.00 later test done. I called to get an estimate appointment and the contact person almost refused to speak with me any further until I swore up and down that i had complied with the testing. Had to wait over a week for a simple estimate appointment. As it turns out, I had to change my precious appointment due to a schedule conflict. They were very inflexible and slow to call me back. In the mean time, I contacted the local Pella service and they assured me that no lead test was needed to repair their product in this manner. BOTTOMLINE … I am out $ 150.00 due to the stupidity of Handyman Connection before I even get any service. APPROACHWITHEXTREMECAUTION!

No no no. Don’t use them. I had a small job — running toilet, regrouting, towel bar had fallen down etc. Expensive quote but I figured with a high rating on Angies List and BBB they’d be good. Nope! The handyman had to come back because the toilet still ran and the towel rack fell down again. Then the toilet STILL was not fixed. HC refused to negotiate any return of $$ for wasting my time. BTW, the handyman was also late and tried to charge me for the candy bars he bought when buying the supplies needed for the work. I went to Handyman Connection because I didn’t want to go to Craigslist and get a hack. I got a hack anyway. I found someone else to fix the problem. She is going to do a bigger job for me at my place of business. I will report to you then.

Previously, I used their services several times and the work and price were reasonable. Recently, I reconnected with them for a very simple job. They reset the appointment time three times, and I spent several hours just waiting only to find out no one was coming. When they FINALLY showed up, I just wanted the work DONE! And, it is only at that time that the price for the work is disclosed. Even though I bit through my tongue at the cost, I continued with the job because I needed closure. I’m not going to use them for anything from now on due lack of communication skills and excessive cost for very simple work.
