This place is «acceptable» for that there aren’t authentic sushi nearby. It is actually run by Chinese. It does taste more like a fast Chinese place rather than a Japanese restaurant.

I would give 3.5 stars, but thjs not an available option. Tried the Happy Hour $ 1 per piece nigiri — Eel, yellow tail, octopus, white tuna, red snapper, tuna. The yellow tail was soft and buttery along with the white tuna — my favorites and I reorder another piece of each. The tuna and red snapper were a little stringy. For the happy hour price Kassai Sushi is certainly worth it for your late night sushi craving. Actually, their happy hour menu runs 4:30 pm to close, so maybe even for your early evening craving. Came late at 9 pm and the staff seemed a little more concerned with closing duties than checking in the customer, so I had to flag them down to order, receive the check, and water was never refilled, but they were always smiling and curtious when I got their attention. Take advantage of the Unilocal check in offer a free hot sake and $ 1 happy hour nigiri and enjoy this new local discovery on the east side of Denver.

Ordered sashimi, expecting delicate slices of fish and octopus… but instead got giant chunks of it. I guess the fish tasted alright, and I guess I got more fish than I would have expected, but goodness, it was so tough to chew! And the octopus was 10 times harder to chew! I wish I had order a roll or something because that was a pretty hard meal to swallow, literally. Outside of the sashimi, I thought the service was great. And other people seemed to have enjoyed their sushi, so I’ll have to come back some other time to try the sushi.

Came here a couple weeks ago and was impressed to bring my fiancée for a date night. The first time my tuna roll came with whole pieces of tuna in the roll. Whenever I see a restaurant use chopped up pieces of fish, that’s when you know you got the scraps from the fish. It also reminds me of someone chewing up the fish first then spitting it into the roll. Like I said, first time went off without a hitch. Second time was with the most important person in my life and it went downhill. Salmon roll had the«chewed up» fish in the roll. The rest of the meal was ok. Inconsistent service and sushi chefs who just look at you when you walk in. No idea what happened on my last visit but will be skipping this place next time we go out for sushi.

Always a reliable place for dine in, carry out or delivery. The sushi is fresh and the service is good. Plenty of seating. Fairly quick service too. I’d have to say that I have no specific favorites here. I simply like to stop in and order whatever seems to grab my attention.

I like the whole restaurant atmosphere. I had the mummy roll, golden mussels, edamame, smoked salmon & shrimp nigiri, cucumber salad, and it was all fantastic. Can’t forget the mochi ice cream!

I have always been a fan of sushi and since moving out to Denver I have ordered sushi from this resturant dozens of times. It’s my go to place. The sushi is always fresh and made correctly. Delivered on time — somewhere in the ballpark of 25 to 30 min every time. I highly recommend the shaggy dog roll and gyoza. I would stay away from the pan fried noodles though if you’re ordering delivery, they come tasting faintly of the plastic containers their in. Overall, fantastic food and service every single time! I will continue to be a customer! :)

I was here for lunch. The place was empty, the sushi was below average. The rolls were broken apart and awkwardly misshaped. They have more than sushi but didn’t try anything else but the sushi.

I love this place. I’ve been going there before they expanded and it was tiny place. I use to live in the neighborhood and always took friends there. Love their sushi and love the staff, both are great! Now I live out of state stand when I come home to Denver I always have to go at least a few times. Always order the sushi, it’s my fav! They do a great tempura Philly roll and everyone I bring always loves it! Will always recommend this place!!!

Very happy to have finally found a sushi place we want to frequent… such an amazing place AND so close to our house! The fish here is fresh, truly sushi grade cuts of fish. And the rolls are very inventive and well-seasoned. If you like heat, they have some great rolls. Reasonably priced, great beer/sake selection, and a very friendly staff. CanNOT wait to go back!

We live in Crestmoor and have 4 year old twins… So when we have a hankering for sushi and know we can’t get out of the house, their delivery service is perfect! I would not consider Kassai one of the exceptional sushi places in Colorado, but the fish and food quality is well above average. If you were to base your decision to eat here strictly on the shopping center and exterior, you might not dine here. But I will tell you that they are worth the shot. I will also say that they are a little higher priced than they should be.

I like the food, the ambiance of this place and the staff. I’ve dined in a few times and was satisfied however, I ordered delivery and was not quite happy. The rolls were just ok and they didn’t seem full like they did when I actually ate there. I would eat in again but not order a delivery. Not to mention my sushi was completely destroyed by the time it was delivered, I assume the driver was drag racing with the the sushi tied down to the hood of the car?

It was my first time here and I really like the atmosphere of the place the moment I step in. It wasn’t crowded at all. I came in a little after 7 pm on a Wednesday and the customer service was good! The sushi I order was great as well!!!

I’m giving this place 5 stars. We came here for the first time and were seated right away. They were fairly busy because they only had one server on. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the best service. Fortunately, the food was delicious. So, we came back. The past two time we’ve gone it’s been amazing service AND awesomely fresh sushi! The nigiri we had was So buttery every time! We love this place!

Tried out Kassai Sushi tonight because of the great reviews and the $ 1 happy hour(until 10pm). Really a disappointing and stressful experience. Kassai Sushi is tucked away in a shopping strip on Quebec strip. The outside is unassuming, but I was initially impressed by the large interior; it was clean and appeared very well taken care of. We were seated immediately. We ordered tea and an Age Tofu to start, which I have to admit was pretty good, although a bit slow to come out. The waitress(who appeared harried and rushed) gave us menus and a paper form to check off what we wanted. We ordered several sushi pieces, and then later ordered a few rolls. That’s when things fell apart. We waited and waited. After about 30 minutes, we asked what was going on, and our waitress looked over to the sushi bar and said ‘it’s coming’ before rushing off again to the kitchen. Our waters never got refilled, and neither did my tea. Turns out, they had lost our sushi order, although it took them another 10 minutes to figure it out. We got our rolls first, and then we had to reorder the sushi. Another 20 minutes, and I could see our sushi, just sitting there on the counter while they took care of all the other customers, even though we had been waiting there for about an hour for the 2nd half of our order. Frustrated, we called for the bill and they put the rest of our order into a box, having never even delivered it to our table. And to top it all off, when I got home, there were only 8 pieces in the box(we had ordered and were charged for 9). !!! I’m giving it 2 stars because the food wasn’t bad and the rolls were creative; the fish was fairly fresh. I think the sushi chefs know what they’re doing for the most part. But their service clearly needs work. The waitstaff was completely disorganized – I could see them shuffling papers trying to figure out which order went where and arguing about it. The restaurant wasn’t busy, so this wasn’t the reason; they need to rethink their system. There was absolutely no form of service recovery, just a few ‘I’m sorry’s’ as they rushed us out the door. I got the sense that this was the normal order of business. We went away hungry and annoyed, and most of all, stressed. It was a complete waste of $$ for a date night for what was supposed to be a relaxing and fun evening.

Went to Kassai with my family off of a recommendation and we weren’t disappointed! Don’t be fooled by the location of this sushi bar — it’s stuck in a little strip mall but the food is very tasty! We ordered two rounds of sushi — 6 rolls total and it was plenty of food for 4 people. Everything seemed very fresh and the flavors were delicious. They were fairly busy for a Friday night but we were easily seated within minutes. Not bad prices for how good it is!

I used their online order & delivery service(no extra charge for delivery!) They advertise that food would arrive in 45 minutes(which is really fast). It instead came in 1 hour and 20 minutes(which seems more accurate if you think about how much time it takes to make the food and how much time it takes to locate your customer). I am subtracting a star for that false advertisement. However, I will give them props for arriving straight at my door despite my complex being gated and difficult to get into. It was a pleasant surprise that I didn’t have to go walk out in the cold to open the gate to the parking lot. I tried the hot night roll for $ 12.95(Shrimp tempura & cucumber topped w/spicy tuna & tempura flakes, spicy mayo and eel sauce), the spicy tuna cilantro roll for $ 5.95& the shaggy dog roll for $ 11.95(Ebi tempura & avocado inside, crab meat & tempura crunch, out spicy mayo). Sushi in general is always on the pricier side but I thought that for the size of these rolls, the price would be considered even steeper here. The rolls are pretty compact and I was able to finish all but 4 pieces of my meal. So(with tip), that’s about a $ 36 dinner to get me full. The rolls were a little bit scant on fish but I thought the quality of the fish was good. I liked how they gave a lot of wasabi and ginger.

Kassai Sushi would be easy to miss, unless you knew what you were looking for. Tucked into a micro shopping center on the west side of Quebec St. Between another Asian restaurant and a nail salon, it really doesn’t stand out. At least until you taste the food! The dining room is deceptively large, but not huge. The bankets are upholstered with Cosmo and Martini recipies. There are a few other decorations on shelf partitions. Décor is a little eclectic but clean and you’re not here for that, right? Kassai has a smaller menu of special rolls than most places, but that’s good for me. I like the classic nigiri sushi, maybe a rainbow or a dragon roll(both excellent, by the way) and no sauce or glaze that is popular as a topping. I wrote no glaze at the bottom, and although I didn’t have a chance to point it out to the waitress, I heard her telling the chefs, bonus points!!!(And a 20% tip) My husband wanted to try some Sake, and although I know nothing about it, the hostess humored us by pointing out the most popular variety. The rolls themselves are on the small side, all the better to take dignified bites, I say. The ingredients are fresh, and dinner here, including a bottle of Sake or a couple of drinks won’t break the bank.

I have been here WAYWAY back before my Unilocaling days, hence this time around with my friend and this recent visit was Monday June 2nd2014. Time was about 11:15hrs ish. Thankfully my friend had not been to this establishment before. What turns me off, was when we entered this establishment, there were a stance of foul smelling thing that lingers the air. Maybe they have bad circulation of the Air-Con unit system. We are definitely the first patrons dining in at that hour, till some time later there are many more other patrons dining in. But before that, this establishment is indeed«dead». Yes its empty, in a good way, coz I feel I can have the restaurant all by ourselves. But at the same time it can be eerily quiet. Where are other patrons? Nevertheless, these were the items that I ordered for Lunch. Just take note its ONLY1 Single Nigiri for each item that they offered here at Lunch. * Tako($ 1.75) * Unagi($ 2.00) * Ika($ 2.00) * Hokigai($ 2.00) * Scallop($ 2.75) * Uni($ 3.50) * Ama Ebi(2pc)($ 7.00) * Tamago($ 1.75) * Tobiko($ 2.00) * Golden Mussels($ 5.50) * Strawberry Mochi($ 1.50) * Mango Mochi($ 1.50) Another observation once again, my order of Ama Ebi, comes with SHRIMPHEADSWITHOUTTHESHELL! *SIGH* This is yet another establishment that offer those SHRIMPHEADSWITHOUTTHESHELL… Why? Why? *DOUBLESIGH* If I am NOT mistaken my friend ordered these items : * White Tuna($ 2.00) * Tako($ 2.00) * Unagi($ 2.00) * Hamachi Roll($ 4.50) * Miso Soup($ 1.50) * Vanilla Mochi($ 1.50) * Red Bean Mochi($ 1.50) All in all a successful Lunch on Monday. Just OK Sushi. Nothing stood out for my personal taste bud. Oooh not forgetting while I was there, I also met another fellow Unilocaler who is a regular at this establishment. Thankfully while we were there, many more patrons dining in for Lunch. Kassai Sushi 731 Quebec St, Denver, CO80220 Tel:(303)-320−0833 @122/2014

I tried something new today thanks to a brave dining companion and a solid menu of sushi and sushi rolls. I know, I know — this may not be new and exciting to most of you devoted foodies out there, but I had my first full octopus sushi day. No, not dressed up with a the colorful trappings found at most hyped-up sushi spots — their sushi was straight and to the point, which prompted me to indulge in the more traditional Japanese cuisine. The fish was fresh, well prepared, and served in a timely manner. The interior was definitely different than what I expected based on the ubiquitous shopping mall exterior. It had more of a night club vibe and definitely fall flat of interesting décor. Let’s just say the upholstery on the booths were images cocktails and their respective recipes. If I find myself back in Stapleton, is gladly revisit Kassai. If anything I’ll always remember it as my first ‘big girl’ dining experience.
