Everybody listen up! If you would like to take a trip back to your mom’s kitchen and get the smell of homemade tortillas you have to go here. It’s a small groc/bakery shop where the ladies are busy making tortillas and the smell is wonderful. The tortillas are soft and warm I can’t wait to open the bag and eat one. The family that runs it is very friendly and greets you with a smile. At Christmas time you can order homemade tamales they are great! And they also have bake goods and other little products you might want. There is nothing bad to say about this hidden little secret place in Denver. I love this place!

When I don’t have time to make my own tortillas, I make the drive to Tortilleria Las III Americas. They are hands-down the BEST tortilleria in Denver. I’ve tried other places, including $ 1/dozen places and they don’t even compare to the quality of tortillas at Las Tres. They only use fresh, quality ingredients, the tortillas aren’t super thick(which I hate) and they’re always fresh! They also have a variety of pan dulce(empanadas, biscochitos, etc…) and authentic spices. My only complaint is that they are closed on Thursdays. I made the drive in today to discover they were closed. Sad face. Seriously, Thursday is probably the most random day to be closed. Go there(except on Thursdays), buy some tortillas, put them in your mouth and thank me later. Yes, they are THAT good.

Any one looking for a flour tortilla that is as close to home made should go here. They are not waxy like the ones you buy at the grocery store. When you buy them they are warm and fresh. There are no preservatives. And for $ 2 a dozen, they are well worth the trip. They also sell corn tortillas, as well as maza to make tamales. The flour tortillas puff up when heated properly on the stove. We usually buy several dozen and freeze them. They keep very well. Highly recommended.
