I was excited to try this place. The décor was super nifty, and the bartenders were really friendly and knowledgeable. It’s the sort of place where you can hang out and just chat with folks which I really appreciate. I loved the music that they played and would have totally started dancing around randomly but modesty forbade me from doing so. The two drinks I tried were a bit sweet for me, but both were strong and of good quality. This is definitely a super cool place to hang out and just slightly off the beaten path.

I came in here during my recent trip to Denver! We were looking for a quite(er) bar than the others downtown and this place had some awesome décor! I was really pleased with the service. We were greeted quickly by the bartender and they served the best Moscow mule I have ever had! Will definitely be stopping I here again on future trips to Denver!

I seriously dig the interior of this place. Once you walk in through those tall golden doors, you are immediately transported into what feels like a different world. I think the Tim Burton-esque ambience and conjoined sisters(think Bette and Dot Tattler from«American Horror Story: Freakshow») as the logo really give this bar an unconventional feel that totally works for them. The booths are tall enough to give you and your party some privacy and really enhance the casual drinking experience. They have a great drink menu, but the main attraction is the list of specialty cocktails. They each have unique names with flavor that packs a punch. It won’t be hard to find something that fits your flavor profile. The Pirate Socks & Dead Parrots was pretty sweet. The main features in it are Blue Curaçao & Cruzan Vanilla. Very tropical flavored. It’s served up, but I think it would’ve been better had it been on the rocks. Still pretty good, though. The only food listed on the menu was pizza, garlic knots, and salad(called«rabbit food») on the menu. My cousin and I decided to get a couple slices of their special. They were thin-ish, crispy, and generous on the toppings. If you’re planning to bar hop, you should definitely make your way into this place at some point. Next time I’m in Denver I’ll go in when it’s in full swing. Until then, it’s a pretty chill place to grab a drink for a bit.

They have a decent offering of beers on tap and mixed cocktails. I haven’t ordered wine here as it seems a bit of a pain. This is more night club than wine bar. The drinks are right in line cost wise with standard downtown club pricing. It can be really hard to hear if you are planing on conversations, so make this one a beer and music stop. That said they have some fun events during the week. We attended a local comedy night and had a great time. The pizza next door is pretty great as well(Marios Two Fisted) and you can order and pay at the bar.

This bar has always been our go to bar on my group of friends birthdays. It has always been interesting and a fun place to go. We went in last weekend and received horrible service. The server was inattentive even though the bar was pretty empty. Then, I ordered a drink, I didn’t end up liking it and I sent it back. However, when I received my bill, the server had still charged me for the drink. When I approached the manager to ask why I was being charged for a drink I did not drink,(Most places will not charge you when you do not consume or like what you order), she was very rude and said that they do not comp drinks that are unsatisfactory and that is why the menu tells you what is in the drinks. Well I am sorry that I did not know what the drink was gong to taste like based on what the menu said. After going back and forth for a few minutes, she finally did remove the second drink from my tab, but it should have not been that difficult. Sadly, based on the poor customer service and rudeness of the management, I do not think my friends and I will be back.

Interesting place, can’t say I was overly impressed. Unfortunately, I nearly paid for the entire bar’s drinks when the bar tender decided to put everyone on my tab just because I was talking to them. ALWAYS ask for a detailed receipt. I will chalk that up to a loss of his mind function for the moment. Their selection is decent and prices are in line as well. I do however LOVE the tree in the corner and plan on something similar in my front living room. Award is when people are performing and others are walking on stage to use the restroom. Just go through the curtains and use the ones in the adjoining pizza place to not interrupt the performers please.

This has always been one of my favorite places. Last night(Tuesday) my wife and I came here at about 10pm… it was pretty empty so we just hung out with the bartender. She was super cool and knowledgeable. Especially about gin. She made my wife a pretty amazing martini and I had a cocktail made with St. Germaine’s and this artichoke liqueur… Interesting but pretty good. All cocktails were only 5 bucks and the pizza was delicious. Anyway, we had a great time and the décor was cool. Athena rocks!

[As sung by Gene Wilder…] If you want to view paradise Simply look around and view it Anything you want to, do it Wanta change the world? There’s nothing To it That’s the song«Pure Imagination» from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. And I’m singing it to you now because when you approach those gigantic golden doors, it might cross your mind as well. Or perhaps, you’ll think of the Wizard of Oz and think that someone will appear in a window in that door and say, «Well, that’s a horse of a different color!» Or you might expect the Cheshire cat. And on, and on, and on. The point I’m trying to make is that it’s a fantastical setting. In my mind the ambiance is like Willy Wonka meets Tim Burton’s Nightmare before Christmas. There’s a dark twisty tree in the corner that crawls up the ceiling, and a bunch of spindly red booths. Just look at the photos. I can’t comment on the drinks, as I’m not a drinker. It seems to be a more simple kind of place, and not one of the nouveau cocktail bars around town. It’s not such a dive that you’re just going to get well drinks – it’s more in the middle. It’s a unique experience and it will probably give you something to talk about the next day. Oompa loompa, doopity do!

This review is a bit late, but on February 13th, my husband I visited this eclectic bar — looked like Tim Burton designed the place! It was interesting and intriguing… and that’s where it all stopped. We sat in a booth(it wasn’t particularly crowded — around 9:30−10pm) that still needed to be cleared from the previous group. We sat there for over 15 minutes and no one came buy to pick up the money, clear the table, or take an order from us. So, we left. Service couldn’t even qualify as poor… there wasn’t any. Too bad.

I generally love this place. Tonight; however, the bartender is completely wasted. I can’t get my check, she brought the wrong check to half the people in the bar. I have been waiting to close my tab for 20 minutes. Told the other staff members. They looked at me like I kicked a puppy; I am still waiting. I won’t be back here. Unreal.

Pros: unique décor, friendly service, ample seating on a Saturday night, pizza available by the slice or the pie Cons: house specialty drinks were all very sweet, lighting was too bright overhead, music was pretty loud Other: staff definitely under the influence, which led to our 3 pizza slice order turning into 7 Overall: Very strange experience overall but I’m glad I checked it out. Poke your head in to see the décor and have one drink but skip the house cocktails. This is a stop in spot with plenty of room and quick slices, but probably not where you want to spend more than 30 minutes.

The décor in this place is AWESOMESAUCE! Trees, big giant red I dream of Jeanne booths — how wonderful is that! We found the standee of the Double Sister’s in the back — conjoined twins where you can stick your face in for photo ops — fun was had. The faucet in the bathroom is a big chunk of wood — funky and cool — but how do I turn it on — motion? foot pedal? Oh wait — up there in the middle of the mirror — there’s a handle, way above your head… There is a bit of and odor — smells like a mop bucket that’s been in the closet for weeks and REALLY needs cleaned out — but you adapt. Fun and funky cocktails, good beers on tap. The server was super great and friendly and took care of our large group.

First off, it’s a really neat space. Once you walk in, you feel like you are in some enchanted forest. It’s quiet, and honestly, almost a little too gloomy. If you are looking for nightlife and upbeat place to dance, this is not the place. If you are looking for an upscale romantic place, this is not the place either. I honestly don’t know what this place is really good for except for an «ooooo» right when you walk in. They do have a good selection of beer, and some interesting cocktails if you are in the mood for a mixed drink. Prices are mid-range. They are partnered with two fisted marios next door(divey pizza place), so your group can order pizza and have it served there. Side note: pizza was delicious! The dynamic was strange. Double daughters seemed to try and be a little more upscale. The menu stated that we would be able to order a pitcher of beer. The server came back and said that the pitcher of beer was only available if we were dining at Two fisted mario, and that we had to order by the glass if we wanted to hang out in Double Daughters. It’s different, but nothing special. Will probably not be back.

I don’t think I’ll be back, but it’s worth a try to see if it is your scene. There are so many options in Denver, that you really never need to return to a place that isn’t on-point. Unfortunately, Daughter’s is on that«no return» list for me. The atmosphere was nice, the décor was interesting and the music perfect for having a few cocktails. I sat at the bar, and that’s where things turned a little sideways. Ordered our first drinks, but had to wait almost 10 minutes with a nearly empty restaurant. A second round of drinks was never offered, despite an open tab. Once we finally got someone’s attention and ordered a round of Red Headed Sluts to celebrate ladies night, the bartender had to look up how to make them, and served them to us *warm* — poured right into the shot glasses. A request to chill them to the other bartender was granted, but the bad taste was already left in my mouth. Maybe it was the day, maybe it was the staff, but I won’t be pouring my expendable income into a place that can’t get customer service right. There are other, similar concepts in town without the bumpy service — I’d check one of those out instead.

This is the best bar in down town Denver. Easy access to a booth. Easy access to the bathrooms. Steady service with the option of great pizza. Crazy atmosphere unmatched by any other hipster fake ass flannel wearing bars. This place is the real deal. I’m not saying if you see a bearded guy wearing a flannel here it’s a guarantee he can change a tire. But it is a better chance. I’m a fan. I’ve been a regular. And I’ll continue to be.

I’m not crazy about this place. The décor is totally fab. There’s a DJ on the weekend, but no one dances. There are super strong drinks everyone talks about, but no one actually wants to drink because they taste like a slap in the face. If I’m bar hopping in the area, I always stop in, but I never stay.

I’ve gone here a lot over the years, mainly for the vibe and location. I love the décor, I love the music, I love the dark weirdness of this place – especially in LoDo. It’s one of the really good spots to stop off in if you find yourself downtown. The thing I don’t like is the price and lack of drink specials. I just cannot afford to drink here. It would be 100 percent better if they offered some $ 5 drink specials or something. Worth visiting every so often, but I’d go broke if I made it my after-work spot.

The atmosphere is pretty cool at this place… but odd. I say odd because they’re listed as a «lounge» however it was bright as heck when we stopped by on a Saturday, especially in the booths. Speaking of booths, if you’re new to the joint, it’s pretty unclear whether or not you’re supposed to order at the bar or if there’s a waitress that comes by. Again… if they’re a lounge, you’d assume there’s a waitress. That’s a little bit of a bummer but eh, I’m not lazy. Satuday night they have a DJ to keep up the ambiance, which was cool and not snobby or douchey. It never really got busy so that’s a plus, I suppose. I’d probably go back if I was invited or to show out of town friends… but not by my own decision. I wasn’t my ideal scene… very Tim Burton-y…

One of my cousins from Indy was town this past week(I haven’t seen her in years!) and insisted we meet up. I mean why not? Visitors are always a pleasure! I knew though meeting up during the week would be out of the question. Last night she told me to meet her here. I had never even heard of it, but it was close to home and looked whimsical. Before I go on, bare with me with the sidetrack: When I usually leave Union Station I stroll by a realty place that has tons of local listings that I drool over. One address that stuck out a lot was 70014th St. When I saw this place was located at same address, I got kind of giddy. Upon arriving, I noticed it was housed in a beautiful brick building(prolly old cotton mill or warehouse) with huge doors to match. Along with reading all of the previous reviews of «cocaine usage» and Tim Burton-esque décor, the suspense was killing me(don’t worry, I don’t consume illicit drugs anymore, I just dream about them on a nightly basis)! My cousin arrived, and then we entered. It was about 745pm. I was shocked to see the place was empty, especially on a Saturday! The bar was on the left wall, and about 6 – 7 booths to the right. You can walk up stairs, where there is more seating, restrooms(which I should have checked out!), and trippy art for sale. We got the big booth, as there ended up being six of us. This place is true to lounge, with a very solid cocktail list, wine list, and beer list! There is even a pizza place attached that will be glad to bake a pie for you. I started off with a blue drink in a martini glass. I chugged it. Upon entering, they advertised a «go fuck yourself juice». So I inquired about that. It was interesting. Interesting enough to have two. Sorry, I took the last two. It is listed on the menu as the last cocktail. It’s the long name with 17 ingredients. I then ended up having a drink with Sriracha vodka key lime rum and pineapple juice. That was pleasant as well. Thankfully, the place started to fill up. Long story short, every drink was perfectly crafted, and had a nice kick to it. The atmosphere was cool, and you can get drunk here, quick. I can’t wait to go back and get my picture taken in the cutout thingy!

Such a cool bar, especially when you go on a big celebratory evening. The first thing you’ll notice is how wide open the space is. There is no bumping into douchey club rats. No getting rubbed up on by strange(i.e. ODD, CIRCUSWOMEN) women. Just good drinks and good music. And it’s NOTTOOHOT! This is something I look for in all of my social outings. I have been warned there can be some cocaine usage in this bar, so take that into consideration. However, if you are an upstanding citizen like me, you should have no problems enjoying yourself.
