Sad news, best tacos in Denver just closed, apparently permanently, yesterday. Sign on the door thanked Denver for 2.5 years of business. Lights were off and a lease sign was up.

Bumped up to 4 stars. Since moving back to this area, Moontower has become my go-to for a late breakfast on the weekends. I’m a creature of habit and I almost always get the Migas and the Guac Tauc. Once in a while I get the Jim Bob, however that one is hit or miss: sometimes you get an ample amount of beef, sometimes you get a few dried out pieces. However, in general you can’t go wrong with their breakfast tacos! I’m definitely a fan of Moontower and will miss them once I move out of the ‘hood next week!

I went with a friend and we each got two tacos. I got a shrimp and a pork belly. She got the special and a different shrimp one. They were good, not great. Both of mine tasted dry, even with the sauce that comes on the side. How can pork belly be dry, you ask? I believe it must’ve been overcooked. I was surprised and disappointed. They do have a good selection of tacos and one breakfast burrito that is pre-made. I found this out when I asked if any of the tacos could be made into a burrito. Nope. I prefer the neatness, ease and texture of eating a burrito, but this place isn’t called Moontower Taqueria, so I understood. I will try this place again at some point and update my review. My friend liked hers but I didn’t try them.

Moontower is the bomb. I have no idea how my husband discovered this little place, but I am so grateful that he did. We will call ahead and order to go, which is definitely a good decision when the restaurant is packed. It does take them a little while to make your tacos because they’re doing it all right there in front of you. You have the option of corn or flour tortillas. Both are legit. My personal favorite are the shrimp tacos. The chicken with the blue cheese and hot sauce is also amazing. The husband usually goes for the Carnitas. Just a few weeks ago we discovered they did breakfast tacos! That has changed my life. For the better. The one with chorizo is the best, and I’m not a chorizo fan! Most options come with smashed potatoes and melty cheese. Whaaaa? Bottom line: go! Also, they have Boylan’s sodas. Their crème soda is the only soda I will ever consider drinking. Boom.

Why the hell have I not been here before? Why on earth have I driven by countless hundreds of times, only to keep thinking to myself«I’ll have to check that place out sometime». Well, today was that day. The tacos were amazing. Huge and chock full of goodness, meat, and flavor. I got the Gangnam Style and The Gambler. The girl got The Carnitas and a «test» taco that was basically a Caesar Salad. Mine were both awesome. The Carnitas was great as well. The Caesar taco was just okay, but I’m not really into that flavor as a whole, so that was to be expected. The price was good too: 4 huge tacos, a beer, and a San Pelegrino for $ 24. Left happy as hell.

the food here is SOO good, large portions, and fairly inexpensive. I got the Mahi and chicken fajita taco. It was perfect for lunch! I also got a side of black beans, which were delicious. The food was also quite quick. the vibe of the restaurant was causal, but fun! I can’t believe I haven’t gone to this place before! I will definitely be coming back. I had absolutely no complaints

Moontower makes what I like to refer to as bastardized tacos… And I love them. These are not by any means ‘authentic’, but by god they are delicious. The breakfast tacos are where it’s at. My favorite is the Suicide: scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes, avocado, queso, bacon and(I get mine without) chorizo. It comes with a tiny side of red salsa and is one of the most delicious things I’ve ever put in my mouth. Hmm? The Migas is another delicious breakfast pick. Or you can create your own if you’re so inclined. The lunch tacos are equally as creative and nearly as delicious as their breakfast options. The buffalo chicken is always a go to for me, as is the Guac Tuac(Panko battered avocado!), but if you’re looking for something more unusual, the Doggfather takes the cake: chicken, bacon, a waffle, candied jalapeños, syrup, and apple butter. See what I mean by bastardized tacos? None of their sides have ever disappointed and their queso in particular is amazing. It comes with guacamole in the middle and is incredibly rich but sooo delicious. They also have margs and cheap cans of beer. What’s not to love?!

Fourth and final stop on the gringo taco tour. I strayed from the taco eaters and decided to order a breakfast burrito. And I did not regret that decision except I was just soooo full afterwards. Ordered the suicide breakfast burrito and loved it. Filled with potatoes, eggs, bacon, chorizo, avocado, and cheese. The cheese was the star ingredient. So tasty. Definitely worth the $ 5. I did get to try the queso dip and it was delicious also. I will be coming back here … soon.

Came here for dinner tonight with the hubby and it exceeded expectations! We found it on grubhub and decided to come into the restaurant — and are we glad we did! First and foremost — gotta love a place that gets you your food in less than 10 minutes. We placed our order and our tacos were ready less than 10mins later. We were shocked! Secondly, the employees were rad. The gal running the register was super cool and patient as we were trying to decide. Everyone else seemed cool and happy to be there. Finally the food — so good! I had the baja taco and it was amazing. The corn relish on the side was fabulous. My hubby had two other tacos and they were also really good. We will definitely be back! Can’t wait to try some other options!

I LOVE breakfast tacos, and Moontower serves up some of the best damn breakfast tacos I’ve ever had.(Dare I say, better than ones in Austin!) Get the Suicide: mashed potatoes, scrambled eggs, chorizo, bacon, and QUESO(not cheese), and avocado, on your choice of flour or corn tortilla. Only $ 3.75 and you get a full meal. This thing is huge and overflowing. It’s a laid-back atmosphere and was surprisingly not crowded at all on Saturday morning when I visited. I came with a bunch of native Texans who agreed that everything tasted awesome.

When can i go back?! So many tasty things, I need to try more. I’d skip the cheese dip, it was meh. The tacos are what you’re there for, stick with them. The breakfast options look amazing, need to make an early AM trip.

Visited again for the 4th stop on our gringo taco tour. This time I had the E T taco, which is a breakfast taco, and got the queso again, since it’s so freakin awesome. Once again, great flavors, great service. My friend had this gigantic breakfast burrito and it was just sinful. I want to try everything on the menu.

A breakfast taco for a very late lunch after eating a variety of things around Denver on a recent visit, why not! It really hit the spot. I got the migas taco on corn tortillas, which is always my first choice tortilla option. Moontower clearly recognizes the fragility of this style so they give you a base of two. I wish everyone did that. We had a large group, so we also got some shared bowls of queso. It was a unique take on queso for me, very tasty, though I wish it had been served warmer. A Mexican coke was just the refresher I needed to go with it. This is a quick casual place and in this category, it competes well with others I eat at. Probably actually better than many. The staff was very pleasant and I was glad they offered a choice of corn or flour tortillas. And because we came at an odd time we were able to push together enough tables so we could all be together. Add that to a private parking lot and I will gladly return should I get to this part of Denver again.

We’ve had this on the to-dine list for ages and finally stumbled into it on sunday. There were so many tasty tacos — i went with with the gangam style and the chicken club. Both were tasty. We also got the cheese dip — it was ok, not amamzing and they dropped the sour cream and guac in the middle and it got lost… meh. Lots of options, but the prices point for a family of 2 is kinda high — we ended up at nearly 30 — 5 tacos, cheese dip, 1 soda. Yowza. Will be a special occasion or maybe not super hungry kinda stop!

Ok. So maybe this place doesn’t have an authentic menu or the dollar tacos I crave but I love their food. ALSO, the food truck caters weddings… so get married soon is my advice to you! The brick and mortar place is fast casual style on Grant and 6th. Nice dog friendly patio with just a couple tables. Service can be slooooooow. Not sure why? On a Saturday, I have to be honest, the staff seemed overwhelmed and annoyed with each other. Maybe there are some newbies? Overall, I think this place is going to be my summer thing. You can get any taco on the menu turned into a taco salad and they have really fun ideas for what to stuff inside a tortilla. The slushie style margaritas aren’t half bad either!

Out of the 6 kinds of tacos I tried, not one of them stood out(in fact, they were barely edible). Every single one tasted like mush, crowded with competing ingredients. The quality of beef was awful — dry, with a slight funk to it. The house salsa tasted more like pizza sauce! Everything was soggy and waaaaay too salty. I definitely wouldn’t come here if I were to crave some legit tacos, nor would I come just to sample some quirky junk food. So very very nonplussed.

I really love tacos. And burritos. I love them equally and continuously forever. That being said, when people from another state are raving about a taco place they only ate at once, I have to try it. And oh I am so glad I did. It was a taco-eating kind of day. Dark, wet and gloomy; a taco is the perfect thing to perk me up. We had been at the Denver Art Museum all day and my stomach could be heard growling for probably miles. I suggested Moontower tacos to my boyfriend,(he gave the«girl-you-always-want-tacos» look), and we set off in search of sustenance. By the time we had arrived, we were starving. Luckily it wasn’t too busy, so we immediately ordered. We ordered two fish tacos, one barbarian taco, queso fundito dip with chips, rice and black beans. The guy taking our order was super nice and explained everything to us. We sat down at a table by the window and waited for our food. The interior of the restaurant is cute and simple, with Moontower everything everywhere. Our food was served to us in no time! I had to try the queso fundito first and MYGOD was it good. Next, it was time to try the tacos. The fish tacos were divine; fresh, crispy and with all the fixings you can’t go wrong. The barbarian taco wasn’t quite as good as the fish tacos, but I still enjoyed it. The rice and black beans were amazing as well. We left Moontower very full of tacos and very happy. I can’t wait to go back to Moontower when I am yet again hankering for a delicious, crispy taco. I am curious to try their breakfast tacos which include variations of chicken and waffles, bacon and eggs and much more. This place is probably the best hangover cure in the world too. Until we meet again, Moontower!

YUMMY! Only been here once so far but I love these tacos! I ordered the gangnam style taco and it was amazing… Probably my favorite. I had also ordered the buff with fried chicken and it was okay. Not as good as the gangnam style but good enough. Portions are pretty large. I also love that they have Boylan’s sodas in the fountain drink area! I will definitely be coming back!

Very tasty and good choices. A bit pricey but the tacos are filled to the brim. I have been three times and my most recent visit was last Tuesday evening. Needing a quick bite before an event at Galvanize(really cool space on 11th and Delaware, just off Speer) Moontower Tacos was a perfect place to go. The location off 6th and Grant is easy to get to and the parking lot usually has a space or two as it’s shared with Mt. Fuji, a dry cleaners, Wendys and a few other businesses. Be prepared to use your muscles as the door on the west side is heavy. There is actually a sign letting you know that. Not sure why but no big deal. You enter and get in line like you would at Chipotle, Qdoba, etc. You order at one of two registers, grab a drink at For this experience I tried a buff taco and gangam style taco in flour tortillas. You can choose corn(gluten-free friendly) but I prefer flour. The buff comes with either grilled or fried chicken in buffalo sauce and I chose fried. It also has sour cream, blue cheese crumbles, lettuce, fried onion strips and jalapeño ranch on the side. I couldn’t really taste the onions but it was a messy tasty taco nonetheless. The gangam style has pork belly, asian slaw, crushed peanuts and sesame sauce on the side. It has really good flavor. I also shared an order of the chips and guacamole. The chips were crispy, salty and plentiful along with a good sized(think in between a cup and bowl) portion of homemade guacamole. The flavor was good, not spicy and fresh The soft drinks are primarily boylans cane sugar sodas or coke or diet coke. You can also get beer or margaritas but I have not tried either at Moontower yet. For four tacos(two were ordered by my girlfriend), chips and guac and one drink the total was around $ 27. Not super cheap but these aren’t your ordinary tacos. Yum yum yum Moontower will have me going back again soon.

Moontower!!! I can’t get Dale Z/Cat Stevens’ song out of my head: moontower, moontower! I started with a three star review and actually couldn’t sleep well last night, so I’ve upped it to four. These were really quite good tacos– just not my preference, here’s why: The tacos were a little bit sloppy and messy and too overfilled for my liking and hence the three star review. I upped it to four on the off chance I just got a really hefty taco filler in the kitchen that day. I think I would’ve like this much more had they had been about half of the filling. Moontower is located in a strip mall off of Speer Boulevard. It has a very small outdoor seating area and has a chipotle like business plan. You line up, place your order, and they bring you your tacos to your table. We tried the Colonel fried chicken taco, the herbivore, and the chicken fajita tacos with sides of rice and beans. By far the best thing were the black beans served with a little fresh cilantro and a little queso. They were delicious! The tacos were served on double layered corn tortillas and mine were so overfilled it was impossible to pick them up-we needed silverware. To make matters worse they were a little bit soupy with the wet ingredients overpowering the taco and quickly making the tortillas quite soggy and impossible to manage. The flavors were very good/ok, and we were able to have four tacos, rice and beans, and two regular drinks for 22 bucks — so not a bad deal, but not super cheap. Service was pretty friendly and I did notice they kept the tables clean when they had the chance I like Moontower and it was a fun lunch, but for my taste I will seek out my tacos a little bit drier and less filled elsewhere.
