Best arepa I’ve ever had! Really cool location too. Had the Queso arepa & the other that had shredded pork, got a beer from the bar and sat upstairs. I wish I had enough room to try everything. One was very filling. We could’ve shared easily.

Excellent and a fair price. I’ll be looking for them. The building they are in on Pecos has no AC, is loud and seating could be better.

Sick and tired of this place always being closed. I can’t understand why Avanti lets them keep their space in their facility. There have been numerous times that i have gone to Avanti specifically to go to Quiero Arepas and they are closed. Even during their limited hours that they are ‘scheduled’ to be open. It’s to bad because the food is good but not worth the hassle of rolling the dice on whether they are going to decide to be open or not. I used to recommend them to as many people as i could but that is over and done with. Avanti needs to replace them with a more reliable vendor instead of wasting a space that could be filled with a reliable food service that actually is open when they are scheduled to be open. Don’t think that you will have any better luck with their food truck. The same story. When they are scheduled to be somewhere it is way too common that they cancel at the last moment, don’t show up or leave early when they are scheduled to be at a brewery or event. Cloudy day CANCEL! Dogs birthday CANCEL! Too windy, too sunny, street is too dirty, CANCEL, CANCEL, CANCEL!!! In the highly competitive food truck market in Denver there are plenty of others to choose from that are actually reliable and worth patronizing.

These arepas are the best in town. … The third time I have been here to avanti and they don’t disappoint… Do call ahead because they open later than the rest of the avanti resturants. The way the toast the plantains and flat bread are what set them apart form the place in Denver that are trying to make this Venezuelan dish. Highly recommended

It took me quite some time to make my way to Avanti but after discovering the delicious sorcery that is Quiero Arepas, I’m sure I’ll be back quite often. We ended up here on a whim and didn’t even check out all of our options before we committed to arepas. The fresh sounding ingredients and fluffy dough won me over right away. I had the Reina Pepiada– Chicken, avocado, and the money maker. Guasacaca! Their signature tangy chunky yet liquidy avocado salsa type thing. Whatever you want to call it, amaze-sauce works. And girlfriend had the Pabellon– Shredded beef, black beans, plantains, and cheese. Also came with amaze-sauce. The beef had the perfect seasoning but the real deal was the plantains. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Easy to say I fell in love here and will definitely be back to try another Arepa here soon.

I have cravings for an arepa at least once a week. Easy on the go food as well as great to have sitting down with a friend. The Reina(chicken) is incredible. The staff is always friendly and the guava drink is worth it.

These fresh and hearty arepas are incredible! I highly recommend The Pabellon. The tender spicy beef is paired with savory black beans, melted cheese and tajadas(fried plantains) all wrapped in a lovely bread. The arepa is topped with a delicious green sauce and I highly recommend adding fresh avocado. It’s truly a steal for the price. Hearty, incredibly delicious and homemade. It’s one of the best bites in Denver!

The original is amazing(and vegan) and their agua frescas are delicious! It is expensive for what you get, but it is very good!

My wife and I have been enjoying Quiero Arepas since the old days where they had a stand at the Denver Urban Homesteading market. From the first bite, we were hooked! Now that their food truck frequents some of our local businesses/events, we seem to have access to them all of the time. We love the outstanding food and service provided by Igor and Beckie that we even had them cater our wedding reception — our guests were delighted and amazed at the amazing selection and flavor. To this day, we still get comments from families on how amazing the arepas were(many of them having arepas for the first time that night). These venezuelan style arepas are a perfect balance of flavors. They start with a warm corn arepa and split it down the middle to make a pocket for the different varieties. While the menu changes from time to time, some of our favorites are the La Havana(succulent morsels of slow roasted pork, delicious moist ham, and swiss cheese) and the La Original(black beans, avocado, black beans, and sweet grilled plantains to add a surprisingly delicious addition to everything). To top it all off, they cover the arepa in a savory guasacaca sauce that brings balance to all the amazing flavors. If you haven’t been to see these guys yet, you don’t know what you’re missing out on. Go check them out at their regular Avanti location, or look for the huge line outside of their food truck. Either way, you won’t be disappointed!

I recommend this place the arepas are awesome and they fill them with a lot of food. Im from Houston and there is not a good venezuelan place over there. So far the best arepa in USA.

I remember getting an arepa from this food truck many moons ago. I was lucky enough to patronize this establishment again when I was invited to lunch at Avanti. After perusing the 7 establishments, I couldn’t walk away from Quiero Arepas. My friend got the original and I ordered the queso. She asked for cheese on hers, and I asked for black beans on mine.(in other words, our arepas were the same, except my queso was mozz, while hers was some other kind of queso). Crispy but chewy arepa with super delicious and overflowing fillings. Fresh and plentiful avocado, plantains, beans, queso(two kinds), and umm… I dunno what else. I’m not sure how other folks took the time to take a picture of their arepa, but I do not have such willpower. I dug into that Venezuelan sandwich and my taste buds exploded. Also? These arepas are HUGE. I took home half of my arepa to enjoy later. Now I want another.

I’ve been to their Avanti location twice, both times getting the Pabellon arepa, and even taking one to go! The arepas are HUGE! They are very filling and absolutely delicious. The plantains add a sweet contrast to the savory flavors present in the shredded beef, cheese, and black bean arepa. I mentioned taking one to-go…yes, you can take one home and still have a delicious arepa to eat. Just stick it in the oven at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes and you can have Quiero Arepas for second dinner or a midnight snack.

I have written this review in my head about 50 times since last week, but didn’t have a chance to sit down and write it until now. For months and months I’ve heard tons of hype surrounding Quiero Arepas. I kept seeing them at Civic Center eats, but I was hesitant to try them partially because I knew I could get their arepas at Avanti any time and I’m normally a burger eater, and partially because I was afraid they wouldn’t live up to the hype. I decided to meet some girlfriends at Avanti last week, and before committing to my main course, I decided to wander around and see what everybody else was getting. I was seriously torn between pizza and an arepa, but some strange girl, after noticing my hesitation, approached me and told me I had to try one. She went out of her way to tell me, a total stranger, that I needed to eat an arepa, so I didn’t really have a choice but to listen. I was eyeing the chicken, but I waited too long and they sold out just minutes before I got in line, so I decided to try the ham even though it wasn’t what I really wanted. I ordered… waited a few minutes, got my food and sat down. Honestly? I wasn’t expecting much, but you know when you eat something so good that your first bite is totally shocking and you never forget it? That’s what happened. It was melt-in-your mouth delicious. I literally did not say a word the entire time I was eating it because I had to concentrate. My friend asked me how it was and I just looked at her and kept eating. I’m glad I got a punch card, because no offense to burgers, this might have actually been better. Comparable, at the very least. Now I have to try all of the flavors!

Such a let down! Dry meat. Four ingredients that all tasted one note. No variation of flavor. Canned black beans. Over cooked masa. For a total of $ 9.61 Not worth it or the hunt. Sorry but this is NOTAUTHENTIC!

I’ve been to the food truck and to the location at Avanti. SOGOOD. If you aren’t getting plantains on your Arepa, don’t bother… because the plantains are the best part. Okay, the meat is also delicious. And the actual arepa(corn…thing? what’s it called?) is equally delicious… crispy-ish on the outside and not too thick that it masks the flavor of the rest of the ingredients. I also love knowing that they value high-quality ingredients. That’s the reason I visited them in the first place. I’ve only ever ordered the Pabellon, so I can’t really speak to the rest of their food but if it’s anything like the Pabellon you’ll most likely love it. Although, my friend did order the chicken arepa last time I went and I tried a bite, I wasn’t into it at all. It tasted kind of like chicken with mayonnaise on it. I don’t think I’d order that ever. Or if I did… I’d add something to it(*cough*plantains). So that’s the reason for 4 stars instead of 5. It could have been just an off day, but I would have been very sad if I had to sit next to someone eating a delicious Pabellon while I had a chicken salad sandwich, basically. Also, Avanti is a really cool location, you should definitely check it out. Long story short, go… but probably don’t get the chicken.

I have never been to the food truck but at the location at Avanti. The main reason u went is because of all the great reviews! I love Latin American cuisine so I couldn’t pass up this opportunity. Surprisingly, there really wasn’t much of a wait and I pretty much had my mind set before I ordered on what I wanted. The first item on today’s menu did the trick. I didn’t even have to look beyond it. The arepa was piping hot, fresh, and just had great flavor. I liked that it wasn’t too heavy and a really good portion for the price. I’ve definitely been thinking about it since and plan to go back again. I’m sold and agree with the majority of the people who reviewed this place!

This truck was outside of Anschutz/Children’s Hopsital on a food truck Wednesday, and was one of the only ones that offered an decent sounding Vegetarian option. I got the«La Original»($ 8.99). The arepa was crispy on the outside and warm and soft on the inside. It was split into a pocket(think pita pockets) and was stuffed with a generous amount of avocado, black beans, a few sweet plantains, topped with a «house sauce». The«house sauce» itself was actually really fresh and tasty. It had a sweet, but crisp and refreshing lime/cilantro taste to it. Unfortunately, there was nearly as much as I had expected, making the arepa quite flavorless. The portions did seem a bit smaller than what I’ve had before at other food trucks, but the the arepa filled me up, nonetheless. I’m not sure that I would opt for this food truck again, but if I had to, I think I would ask for extra sauce.

Hands down favorite food truck of all time. I will stand in line for far too long at the South Pearl Street Farmer’s market for one of these exquisite Arepas. I had never heard of an arepa before being introduced to this food truck. Now, I know they are a Venezuelan food that can’t be duplicated. It’s almost like a pita – but made from corn and perfectly grilled. Once complete, the arepa is stuffed with delectable goodness. Choose from the pabellon(stewed beef version, favorite of my husband), reina pepiada(shredded chicken, delicious dressing, and avocado, my personal fave), the original(black beans, avocado, and plantains), or even a salmon and capers version. My tip: get the reina and add plantains. Delightful, every time. Since they have added another site at the Avanti location, I love that I can get an arepa any day of the week. In fact, my husband and I grabbed dinner there this week and I almost ordered two. For myself. Because I love them that much. Bonus: they do a punch card. Buy 10, get the 11th free. Occasionally, they also have an agua refresca, a juice blend that is incredibly refreshing. Can’t rave enough about this food truck, their speed, and the quality of their product.

Kinda bummed because I was looking forward to trying this food truck for the longest time. I got the chicken one and it just wasn’t great. The textures were weird. I couldn’t even finish it. I possibly got the wrong thing but who knows? Maybe it just wasn’t my thing. Just note there is always a line so plan out your time accordingly.

Quiero Arepas is without a doubt, one of my favorite food trucks in Denver(and I can’t wait to check out their Avanti location)! I disagree that the portions are too small, as does my much-larger-than-me-hubby, and am happy to pay $ 10 for a hot, fresh, delicious meal. I love the Pabellon – shredded beef with black beans, sweet plantains, and cheese. I’m not as big of a fan of the Reina Pepiada – shredded chicken with LOTS of avocado and a yummy dressing. In my opinion, the avocado is just too much… and I love avocado. You can’t go wrong with the Queso, either. Basically, they’re all good… most of the time. I took off one star because the past few months I’ve found the deliciousness wasn’t as consistent as in the past. I had my first and second(and hopefully last) not-so-great arepas. I hope this isn’t a reflection of their opening a brick and mortar spot and am optimistic that the fresh, hot, awesome-sauce arepas will become the norm, again.

This food truck is extremely good but much more expensive than it needs to be. Yes they ingredients are fresh, yes everything is delicious, but the portions are small. This truck came by my office recently so a group of coworkers and I got together to check it out. Again, the food here is extremely good but for an arepa and a drink it was near $ 15 and we were still hungry afterwards. We all agreed we were glad we gave it a shot but wouldn’t be having it for lunch again. I am all about supporting a local company that has an awesome menu with unfamiliar flavors but when your overhead does not include a tables, décor, & chairs, multiple employees, and the cost to lease a space, I don’t think you have the right to charge as much as a brick & mortar restaurant for your meals.
