Another fantastic little theater here in Denver! Although I love their space on Broadway, I won’t comment much on it since they’re moving. But, I’m also excited to see their new space(which will seat 50) over on Santa Fe. Spark is run by some of the nicest, most passionate theater folks I’ve met in a while. My group just visited to see Three Sisters, and everyone was really impressed! They were also kind enough to host a talk-back after the performance, and it was just amazing to learn about how much work goes into a production like this. Luckily, that work paid off. The acting was great, the set was inspired, and it wasn’t a challenge to become engrossed in Chekhov’s complex story. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing what else Spark has to offer!

What a great little spot. It totally has the feel of local art… young performers… untapped city talent. Located in the hip So. Broadway area, it is perfect for a «dinner and theater night». I saw Casual Encounters/Missed Connections and I loved it! Not only are we missing a niche of super talented actors in our sweet city of Denver, but the theater owners/producers/writers are brilliant as well. I can’t remember ever laughing so hard. It is a small venue, but so appropriate for the play that I saw. If you get the opportunity to check out one of their shows, do it. It was well worth it. Support local art!

I’ve been to Spark Theater several times as both a spectator and a performer. Their first play, Dangerous Liaisons, was outstanding. The actors were great, and the cozy nature of the theater made it feel like you were a voyeur in the scenes themselves. Note: This place is TINY. It seats around 30 people. I’ve attended and performed in improv shows here, as well. It’s different in that you don’t have any kind of elaborate tech anything, but again, it’s fun. The seats in the place aren’t the most comfortable — I kind of wish they’d gone with random loveseats and old furniture as seating for the place, instead of straight-backed chairs, but it is what it is. Great spot that’s attracting a lot of buzz. The owners are extremely likable people, and that makes it easy for me to want to champion this space. They do good work. If you’re looking for a new theater space to check out, I’d highly recommend Spark.
