I went here to jam some music as I play cello and just moved to Denver. Drove back and forth on Broadway looking for this place, turns out is CLOSED/RELOCATED. Don’t know where :(

What a disgusting amount of community and art coming out of this place. You open the door and it figuratively knocks you on your knees before you even have time to judge the barista, who I’m sure they’re not even paying, just letting him live upstairs in exchange for ‘expressively rendered’ latté art. And, he didn’t say hi to me when I walked in, or smile as if his life depended on it! What a mean loser and I mean loser. I am an anonymous consumer, and I expect to be treated as if people were actually glad I decided to visit their establishment! Well, I’m not anonymous anymore. My opinion matters! I bet the other coffee shop down the way does a lot better after I publish this review: I bet they’re so swamped with visitors after my glowing recommendation, they can hardly keep from smiling at new customers blustering through their door! Their faces will melt from the smiling!

What a joke the sign on the door says closed I see someone inside so I open the door and asked if there open because it’s now 12:09 and they say their open at 11 the loser and I mean loser inside says we’re not quite open yet… So I asked him Uhm do you any coffee shop that is open his response is «I’m sure somewhere». Hence why I call him a loser!!! Jerk! They have the neon light sign on saying open they have their side walk sign on corner says open but door sign said closed and that’s why I asked mr smartass if they were open. What a jerk, I’m suppose to start work in this area I’ll be dammed if I get anything from this place!

Chai rocks. Apparently employees can’t tell time or just don’t care. Don’t make plans to meet people unless you call to make sure they will ACTUALLY be open.

Yes, I tend to speak in a hyperbolic fashion, but I can promise you what I am about to say is not a hyperbole… Strange Ground Coffee makes the BEST chai latte in da world. I kid you not. I dare you. Go ahead and try to prove me wrong. Since I live a block away, I try to make it down here with my furry companion at least every weekend. I can’t get enough of their fresh, spicy, flavorful chai. My go-to is the iced dirty chai with coconut milk. Good god, the flavors in this thing are outstanding and wildly addicting. So, you just have all these brilliant flavors in one little drink. It’s quite overwhelming(in the best way possible). They make their chai from scratch and it is so apparent in the insanely freshness of it. No mixes here. I love, love, love the fresh ginger and cinnamon they add to the tea. It just brings it all together. It’s truly a phenomenal drink. My biggest problem is that I drink it way to fast. I wish they offered it in jumbo size. In addition to the stellar chai, Strange offers a pretty quirky yet cozy atmosphere that I completely love. I love that they have a big ol’ piano available and that there is always some kind of live music or free yoga going on. Such a rad little coffee spot. Oh, and their homemade brownies are also pretty bomb. Remind me of something your grandma would make. In sum, if you want the best chai of your life, go to Strange. I dare you to show me a better chai. Seriously.

Rude staff — filthy environment. I stopped in last week for a coffee and was immediately turned off by the clutter — pots and pans laying around everywhere — dirty floors, dirty countertops… and then it all suddenly made sense. You look at the people working there and it’s like they’re wearing the same dirty clothes that they wore all weekend long. Disgusting. The manager /owner is unshaven, and not in a fashionable way. More like the way you look after sleeping in, and waking up, putting on yesterday’s dirty jeans, no shower, etc. And he’s just rude to his patrons. There’s a girl working there who was a bit nicer but big huge knappy dreadlocks. I don’t know why anyone would come here when you have arguably Denver’s top coffee house just two blocks away at Corvus. The difference between customer experience is incredibly obvious on all levels. These guys are in big trouble when the health department makes a surprise visit.

Customer service is utter crap. The lady behind the counter was incredibly rude and didn’t even finish making my drink before turning around to fix something with her coworker. I had to ask for a lid twice before someone deigned to give me one. On the up side(?), the lattes are decent half the time. I’ve been there a few times when half my drink was foam. Today’s latte was exceptional so they get a more happy review.

Stopped in for an iced chai based off Unilocal reviews. The place was crazy busy! I really enjoyed the mix of people. There were hippie artists, older couples, younger kids with parents. The chai was also some of the best I’ve ever had!

This place has tons of character with its eclectic décor and furnishings. This was my second time visiting, and I felt the same vibe as before. Lots potential, but it all unravels with the rude staff. I don’t understand why they don’t care enough to fix the situation after so many complaints. Perhaps they are intentionally creating that feeling — if so, it is a bad business decision. Coffee is good, but my cup runneth over… And it burned the $h!t out of my hand. I had to ask for a napkin since they didn’t feel it was necessary to keep them out available for patrons. My cup was hot and I had a freshly burned hand, so I asked for a cup sleeve. Jerk informs me that I could use that same napkin he handed me to clean up the spill. Nice! This pattern of rudeness is unacceptable.

The coffee was good but the service was not. There is a lot going on as far as menus and art and such so I went straight to the counter to order a coffee to go, it wasn’t until after I had paid that I noticed it was a pour over. I politely mentioned she should have told me so as they take a few minutes and I had to run hence the simple coffee to go. She was rude about it and kept trying to explain it was on the menu and not her job to do so blah blah blah. If she had said sorry or offered a quicker solution, without the unneeded defenses, I wouldn’t be writing a review.

This is an ok place, I’ve been here before and decided to go back since my friend and I had to do some work online… I AMNOTCOMINGBACKHEREAGAIN, Let me tell you why; The woman behind the counter was extremely rude. My friend and I walked in, decided to sit down in the main room where there’s a big table, just as I was getting ready to come around the table I tapped a large musical instrument that was clearly in the way. That’s when psycho lady came out from wherever she was and yelled at me for attempting to sit down at the table. She proceeded to continue rambling on about how I shouldn’t even be in that vicinity since she«HASGOTTENSOMEOFHEROTHERINSTRUMENTSBROKENANDSTOLEN» My friend and I at first thought she was joking and after she kept yelling and telling me to not sit there and how she«WASGOINGTOHAVETOMOVETHETABLE» not the instrument which AGAIN its in the way of the table or shouldn’t even be there. That’s when I saw that it was all for reals… I was going to take it to the next level with her but didn’t out of respect for my friend and I. She didn’t even care that there was other customers there to not act the way she did and even those customers changed their demeanor after the incident, she was still rambling about the situation with them like if we weren’t in the room to hear her. Clearly this woman does not have the first sense of what customer service is and probably never will. After this I went online to start this review and noticed that there’s more than one review similar to this one. BEWARE of this place unless you want to feel like you’re not welcome or the careless for your patronage.

Great chai. Terrible service. Several types of chai tea are available, although they’re expensive. We felt unwelcome and unappreciated as we paid for our expensive chai tea. We’ve been here twice now and both times, we left with a negative impression. The first time, the woman behind the counter with blue hair welcomed us with, «I’m not customer service, what can I get you?» This time, a different young woman was behind the counter. While we were placing our order with her for two chai teas, she let out a loud impolite sigh when we mentioned that we’d like almond milk in our chai, as if we were creating a huge inconvenience for her. On the other hand, we heard some good hip hop artists at the open mic. The place isn’t set up very well and it’s awkward having to walk into the middle of the room that the open mic is taking place in, but if you can deal with the emotionally under-developed staff and the awkward layout of the place, you could probably really enjoy yourself here. We won’t be back.

This is one of my most favorite cafes in the US. Stopped in here during my big road trip and got the chai. Came back every day after that for as long as I was in Denver. Beautiful décor, great great vibe, great staff. Totally chill place. Since, then I haven’t found a Café that makes Chai to beat Strange Grounds. Seriously the best damn Chai I ever had. Tempted to go back to Denver just for it! Love you Strange Grounds!

WOW! I came here to see my friend play guitar, so I bought a coffee and was thoroughly impressed! The coffee was amazing, and I haven’t been impressed with coffee shop coffee(Besides Peet’s) since I moved to Colorado. I heard everyone raving about the made — from — scratch Chai as well. I like the ambiance of the shop as well, with lots of local artist’s displays and many choices of instruments to play. I am from about 60 miles away and I will be making another trip to bring my guy and try the Chai. =)

I totally enjoyed the caramel latte here since there seems to be very few places around who can make it with real caramel sauce instead of syrup. The froth and consistency were wonderful and the leaf designs on top were so cool! It was a perfect cup of happiness. The environment was unique where there was someone painting off to one side. The lights and art are both non-conventional and colorful. I look forward to going back to enjoy another cup of yum!

Best. Chai. Ever. If you ever get told that they use a mix, you’re being told a lie. I have watched them make their chai in big pots on the stove. They make the whole thing from scratch, and it is the most amazing, magical, delicious thing in Denver. I will say this, though. If you don’t want any sugar, this chai is not for you. It all has sugar. It isn’t TOO sweet, but it DOES have sugar. Also, this is the only place that has ever made me a dirty chai I loved. You can taste the wonderful spice from the chai while getting a nice kick from the espresso. It’s to die for. What’s best about this place, though, is the staff. They’re friendly, helpful, and so thoughtful and caring. They put their love into everything they make, and it shows. The desserts change from day to day, but there’s always something delicious on the counter. Also, if you’re nerdy, you’ll fit in here. :) I’ve been coming here since January 4th of this year. And in the past 8 months, this place has become a home away from home for me. I walk in, and I’m always welcomed by friendly familiar faces, and often met with new and exciting people. It’s got a great vibe for a coffee shop and they ALWAYS stay open late. Other things I have tried and loved: –Their drip coffee. Oh, it is so delicious. And I drink it pure and black, as it should be. –Their rose tea. This is strong and sweet and absolutely AMAZING. –Their wellness tea. If you’re feeling under the weather, this tea will pick you right back up. And it is AMAZING. –The honey-ginger-lemon tea. SOGOOD! TRY it. –The poppy seed loaf. –Any muffins they’ve ever made. –gluten-free baked goods.

I was excited to come listen to music and have coffee but it turned out to be kind of a flop. The drink I got was over priced for nothing homemade(steamer with syrup) and I spent 3 dollars on a little slice of poppyseed bread. Loved the person working but really disappointed after the great service.

The Chi was tasty but I asked for it without sugar and they didn’t tell me until they brought it to me that it all has sugar, making me think it isn’t a tea but a chi mix. Also, the place is very kitschy and dirty. All of the furniture is used vintage furniture but the upholstery looked so dirty that I didn’t even want to sit on some of it. Not my cup of tea, er… coffee.
