I’m not sure if Tazu was having an off day, but I tried to eat here with my mother, and the entire place was just filth and disgust. We were at the bar because every open table inside was covered with plates with the waitress making no move to clean anything at all. I would have gotten up and left if I’d not felt obligated to stay. I guess the waitress sensed my frustration, so she got out our food very quickly, but it was still yucky and uncomfortable. My mom didn’t even leave a tip(something that I’ve never seen her do) because the service was so negligent and bad. I will never come again.

I came by for happy hour. The service was good, and the food was fresh. I was pleasantly surprised that most of the staff and chefs spoke Japanese. It definitely gave me a lot more confidence in the authenticity of their cuisine. I’ll be honest and say that I wasn’t quite certain how good the happy hour prices were for food, but the BOGO special for select drinks was decent. I was more in the mood for food and went for sushi and oyakodon. My ikura and salmon sushi were fresh and tasty. The oyakodon was warm and just what I wanted for a cold day. I could have used just a slight bit more mirin sweetness, but the dish was otherwise well-made. Overall, I had a good experience and hope to come back for more food in the future.

Worst place. Food was awful. Service was awful. No one knew how to do their jobs. Very overpriced. Just don’t go.

Nice size fresh sushi selections but inefficient service. They forgot an edamame order, took forever to remember fresh wasabi request, two pieces of sushi so delayed we thought we were done. Getting check took an eternity and of course included the items we never got(another long delay then back). Everyone friendly but just didn’t have their stuff together– this In a quiet weekday night?! So go for the sushi and hope you get better organized service then we did!

Food was excellent. Service was awesome. Sushi was the best or second best I’ve had in Denver. The quality was about tied with Sushi Den but at 2⁄3 the cost. Authentic Japanese restaurant. This is our new favorite sushi restaurant.

The sushi place in the heart of Cherry Creek is really yummy. A little bit different than other sushi places that I have been to. The Chirashi came as a box instead of a bowl. Which I’ve never had before but it was actually very delicious. The fish was really fresh and surprisingly the crab was not imitation! Which is definitely the mark of a good sushi bar in my book. The waitresses kept our hot tea glasses full so I was happy about that. Still getting used to the fact that every restaurant we go to instantly serves you water. Which is definitely nice since it’s important that I stay hydrated a mile above sea level :-). The bowl with 20 bucks but definitely worth it. I shared it with my friend and we were both full again. Also they offer brown rice which is a nice option. When you sit down you get a bar salad which was very tasty with little chunks of octopus, cucumber, and seaweed salad. The Chirashi bowl also came with a half bowl of udon which was not bad. There is parking in the back and a patio out front for nice weather.

Been here a couple times and I’ve neverhad a bad experience so far. The sushi wasn’t the best I’ve ever had but it’s a nice atmosphere and our service was great! The owner offered us free green tea ice cream for dessert but we were so full!

Terrible customer service, the service was slow and unprofessional. What a disappoint to choose a terrible restaurant on my birthday. The quality of the sushi is very low grade and does not taste good at all. The waitress also had an attitude when I asked her to repeat something and could barely speak English. Also this restaurant is very overpriced. I can guarantee that whole foods and king sooppers has better tasting sushi and sashimi! I’ll never go back

I am so surprised to see all these bad reviews on here. My husband and I have been coming here for years and the food did not disappoint today! I love the small, intimate setting and the great energy in this restaurant. We came for lunch today and I got the teriyaki grilled calamari bento box. It is so hard to find good, grilled calamari in Denver. There’s is AMAZING. Huge, fresh, perfectly grilled pieces of calamari and I am in heaven! We also got some sashimi that was perfectly cut and just melted in our mouths. YUM! I would highly recommend coming here.

Loved this place! Excellent service! Went on a Friday night pretty early so we beat the rush, and it was packed by the time we left. Love the fresh oranges at the end of the meal! Only down point is the bathrooms location, you have to go through the server well, but other than that amazing!

What a wonderful sushi experience! Sushi Tazu is small and intimate: there are about a dozen tables snuggled up next to each other throughout the restaurant along with a number of seats along the sushi bar. The latter would be a great experience for a date, watch the master chef at work! Try the sashimi! Tazu’s is so fresh, the cuts of fish practically melt in your mouth. And of course, there are a good number of delicious rolls from which to choose. My favorite part of dining here is that each part of your order is brought separately, not all on one plate. First the sashimi, then a gorgeous roll, followed by your next roll. And the next. And the next. While I felt the sushi was comparable to my other favorites in town, the experience was a stand out for me. Wonderful service and a friendly staff, all within a beautiful little restaurant. I’ll definitely be back to sample more sushi, as well as some of the noodle dishes.

We took a group here when the restaurant we were going to was on too long of a wait… and I am sooo glad that we did. Let me start by saying that I don’t eat ANY seafood… so I can’t speak to the sushi. Everyone else in my group does and all of them were very pleased with their sushi. I had their chicken and beef and BOTH were cooked perfectly. The atmosphere was fun(it was decorated for the holidays so that helped). I would recommend it to anyone.

Great. Good as always, but today even though it is slow, the service is horrible. Don’t always have the best service, but today it is noticeably bad. Had food served without silverware or napkins. Then we had to explain why we needed three sets of silverware vs two, even though there are three people at the table. After a few tries they finally got it right, but why should we have to explain why each person needs silverware at the table?

We eat sushi fairly often, not just at home in Denver, but also in other cities. Last night was the worst. It’s October and chilly in the evening but the door was open with an ineffective heater in the doorway. We were cold. We ordered platters. The nigiri sushi came out of the refrigerator pre-made, cold, the fish and the rice. The prices are fairly high in this restaurant and I was appalled that we didn’t get fresh sushi. I complained, so we were offered sashimi and that was also dry and refrigerator temperature. The Saki prices are outrageous and I didn’t pay close enough attention, so I ended up with a box of Saki for $ 17. With tip we spent $ 90 for two for horrible experience. Denver has many fine Japanese restaurants and we’ve been to quite a few. Go somewhere else!!!

Great sushi, great service. The prices are reasonable and probably cheap for Cherry Creek standards. The ambiance is very casual and authentic, not at all trendy or overdone. The tables are pretty small — I wouldn’t try going here with a group larger than 4.

I have been eating at Sushi Tazu for at least 10 years. They have the best sushi in Denver. Everything is always so good and so fresh, it’s hard to believe its located in a landlocked state. The staff is so friendly and so charming. Sometimes my family brings our dog and we tie him up to the fence outside. Not only are dogs welcome outside, they bring them water bowls and sometimes some treats too! If you order takeout, it’s always ready within 20 – 30 minutes tops. And you always get exactly what you order. My favorite thing to eat here is the Nabeyaki Udon and the Uni(sea urchin) sashimi. They semi-recently updated their menu, so there are different options, but they will pretty much make you anything you want. For example, they don’t have a Sunomono salad on the menu, but if you want one you will get one no problem! Seriously, this place has the most consistently great service and food in Denver!

WARNING… When the best thing you can say about a place is at least I did not get sick, it’s not a good thing. I walked in with my friend and his wife at 7:00PM and thought we would generally have an idea what we were getting. She had been going here for over a decade and I for 5 years or so. What we encountered was downright the worst sushi experience I have ever had. What this place lacked in expedient and courteous service, it well made up for in rolls that were constructed so poorly, that they required a shovel rather than chopsticks.(disclaimer: I don’t send back food as a matter of practice for safety purposes… I have worked in restaurants myself). After each of our rolls coming out what seemed like one every 15 minutes, the last two rolls, which were the ones I ordered, yellow tail and tuna rolls came out. As I said earlier, instead of eating the roll as a whole, I used grabbed each roll with my hand to ensure that I could grab the whole pile o’ rice and fish and dip it in soy sauce to make it palatable. While our waitress was nice, when we asked for the manager following close to 90 minutes at the restaurant. When she arrived, we were confronted with a continuous barrage of pedantic contrived apologies. To make matters worse, the manager actually started the conversation by unapologetically throwing the waitress under the proverbial bus. As a result of this experience, after 5 years of periodically going to this restaurant, I have ordered my last roll at this place. I can’t speak for my friend or his wife, but I believe they feel the same. On a more positive note, at least they will no longer be getting any more of my money; this place is not exactly good value either.

Sushi Tazu creates an honorable plate of sushi for the going rate in the Cherry Creek area of Denver. With its close proximity to numerous other excellent culinary choices in the immediate area one would imagine that Sushi Tazu would have to stand out in this side of Cow Town, espcially with the lack of «new school» gimmicks you encounter at nearby Hapa or the superfandom the locals show Sushi Den across town. Although the meat is fresh enough for Denver’s standards the nuanced flavors are fair, if not uninspired. Sushi Tazu’s approach is most certainly subtle or subdued in both fare and décor. The tuna meat in the sushi was a touch dry and this lead to a disappointing mouthfeel while chewing. The salmon however was fresh and almost has a citrus note that lent itself well to just a touch of soy. I found the tuna roll to be serviceable with a good slathering of soy but I would have liked a more potent heat in the finish. $ 7.00 for the large 21 ounce bottle of Sapporo was a great value in this Californian’s eyes, which naturally helped the overall value of the meal. I would most certainly head back to Sushi Tazu if invited by a friend or co-worker, but there are better options in the immediate area had I the craving for sushi alone or on a date.

This was our third visit for lunch using a $ 20 Google Offers coupon. We discovered 2 free parking spaces marked for Sushi Tazu in the lot behind the restaurant. It was in the 50’s today and people were dining in the enclosed patio area. We dined inside. We ordered the Spider Roll, California Roll, and the Philadelphia Roll. I was disappointed that we did not get the complimentary seaweed salad on this visit. I guess it depends on the server. The Spider Roll came out first on a small plate without any wasabi or ginger. My husband would not start eating until he got wasabi and the server was no where to be found. The 5 pieces were more than bite-sized with seaweed on the outside. Lettuce and daikon sprouts were sticking out which made the roll visually appealing. The soft shell crab was crisp and not gritty. There was even tobiko on the inside. The server brought the California Roll and the Philadelphia Roll out on a plate with the wasabi and ginger and a garnish of lemon slice. Now my husband could start eating. The California Roll had tobiko on the outside. The 8 pieces were bite-sized. The fillings were generous and there wasn’t too much rice. The Philadelphia Roll wasn’t as good as last time, but still good. This roll also had tobiko on the inside and sesame seeds on the outside. The server brought us complimentary sliced oranges for dessert and finally a refill of water. No complimentary green tea ice cream this time or last time. I would order all 3 rolls again.
