I’m a sucker for gourmet tacos. These were pretty great. Plus they can take credit cards… don’t always find that with food stands. They were set up at the Great Divide brewery for GABF. The owner is very passionate about the food that they were putting out; I appreciate the commitment to excellence.(I say this because they had a new guy working for them, looked to be a culinary student… said student forgot to sprinkle cotija cheese, and he definitely heard about it.) The were offering a 4-taco plate for $ 10 or 3 for $ 8. All of their tacos have well-executed sauces/pairings to do with them; it’s not just a corn + meat + sauce-your-own taco; that would negate the«gourmet» quality. The shrimp was my least favorite, but only because the others were so damned good. Duck confit tacos, anyone? I miss Denver.

Sooo good! And at a great location… by a bunch of bars where good food fast becomes a necessity as the night wears on! Despite the small size of each taco, they pack a ton of flavor! I was apprehensive because I ordered the shrimp tacos, and unfortunately a lot of restaurants will get cheap on the shrimp and give you a lot of fillers like lettuce and tomato instead. This wasn’t the case at the Taco Bar! I ordered a shrimp taco, and I was thrilled to taste succulent, fresh shrimp that balanced well right along with the cilantro, cabbage, and spicy chipotle sauce that accompanied it. Excellent! A damn fine taco!

We had tacos from this stand while we were at the Great Divide Brewery last Saturday. $ 7 for three small tacos and he will bring them inside while you are enjoying your beer tasting. I had the blackened fish tacos and the veggie taco and they were both phenomenal! The fish one had chipotle aioli and it was very spicy, but that was perfect with the IPA I was drinking. The man who ran the cart really seemed to care about how each taco tasted, and you can pay with a card! At a food stand! Madness!

Couldn’t help but order one at the farmer’s market this morning after I had eaten way too much at the wooden spoon. Had the duck confit, seriously the best taco I have ever eaten in my entire life. This man has the golden touch with food and thankfully applied it to a new version of tacos.

Pretty darn-tootin tasty. $ 6 gets you three tacos — mix and match from their 7 or so varieties of fish, chicken, pork, or veggie. $ 7 gets you a torta. I can’t remember which ones I had, but I do remember that one was sinfully delicious and the other two were only pretty damn good. New operation. They asked me to whip out my smartphone and follow them on twitter. The account had obviously been activated that morning as it had a mere single tweet. If you see these guys, give them a shot.

This little food stand just served its first tacos at the Highlands Farmers Market on June 4… and I’ll be back and looking for them around town. The boyfriend grabbed three tacos while I was getting a custom Bloody Mary made by the folks at the Vita stand. Once we sat down and he took his first bite and said«Oh, God…» I knew I had to get me some too. Taco plates include three tacos(you can mix and match) and they go for $ 6. You can also get any of the flavors made into a torta and those go for $ 8. I went for a veggie, a fish, and let the boyfriend pick the third for himself(he picked another«Oh God» taco, which turned out to be chicken). All of the tacos are small, inventive, and loaded with flavor. The fish taco came with a very quality strip of well-seasoned fish, but the veggie was my favorite, topped with squash, peppers, and a creamy sauce(I think… I was doing an eat and walk). They have a bunch of other meats/topping including various forms of pork and duck confit and every taco was made with such care. I think they’ll fit right in with the Denver mobile food scene.
