This place has reallllly good drinks and if you are cute girl you’ll get freebies! My friend Mindee and I would start our nights here because we were poor and who the hell doesn’t like free drinks. I ate here a few times but usually I was drink so I don’t remember how good it was. I don’t remember being disatisfied.

Lime was the choice when we had 10 people looking to hang out on a Tuesday night. Taco Tuesday! $ 1 Chicken or Beef and $ 3 fish. The manager thought we had some sort of birthday and called me the day of our reservation to advise me our table would have red & blue balloons(huh, ok). The table was also quickly served the used lime halves filled with cheap tequila. Not a horrible complimentary offering but I liked the balloons better. We have been back a few times on Tuesdays to have cheap food and $ 3 margs. It’s an inexpensive and usually painless experience. However, beware late night when the DJs gets going. The LoDo D-bags like to hang out at Lime.

I was captive in the back seat while driving around downtown with others, so had no say in where to go; youngsters wanted to go to Lime. I had a vague memory of having been to this Larimer St. basement locale several years ago for a quick cocktail before dining elsewhere. Anyway, we arrived around 7PM on a Monday, went downstairs, and saw that not a single table inside was occupied, no one seated at the bar, with 5 or so tables seated on the patio on a nice evening. The patio filled up shortly thereafter, and a couple parties sat themselves inside(due to no host, and a sign that instructed everyone to seat themselves.) One waiter for about 10 – 11 tables, and a bartender/manager? helping to run drinks and food for all, our waiter was friendly, as was the bartender/mgr, and service was fine, considering the server/customer ratio. The food, however, is truly awful here. Everything seemed to have dried powdery packet seasoning as the star ingredients; even the carnitas tasted just like Hormel chili. Why do half the mexican entrees on the menu come with fries? We all each ate a few bites, then just had the plates all taken away… I hated to waste so much«food». The margaritas were sickeningly sweet with that S&S concentrate chemically thing going on. The place looks pretty run down and grimy(inside area) and the bathroom was very dirty with no soap available to wash hands(not a good thing for food handlers.) We paid, not complaining, as we’re not douches, and they were busy when we left. I made sure the server had a 30% tip. A primo location on Larimer Square deserves something a bit better; there’s so much competition from very good neighboring restaurants, that I don’t see why anyone would want to dine here. Maybe it’s mainly a later-night frat-bro drinking destination?

Taco Tuesday is one of the best deals in town. Ok the food at Lime isn’t «real Mexican», as I hear people say so often. BUT. $ 1 for a decent sized hard or soft taco– so worth it. I’m a little disappointed that what used to be a $ 3 ahi taco(which was awesome), is now a $ 3 crispy fish taco; instead we enjoyed veggie, chicken and beef for $ 1 each and $ 3 shrimp tacos. They are decent and when you remember what you are paying for them you’ll think they are amazing. Margs are on special on Tuesdays too. $ 3 reg or $ 4 frozen and strong. The chips are probably the best part of all. Generally, I wouldn’t go to Lime unless it was Tuesday or if I were just after margs and an app. Keep in mind that at 4pm on a Tuesday it starts to fill in with $ 1 taco fans. Side note, we went right at opening yesterday and were not alone waiting outside for the staff to decide to open the door. Ok, they were only 10 mins late but were unapologetic and as given that there were four people behind the hostess stand, they could have opened on time.

Taco Tuesday! I went with a bunch of friends for those dollar tacos. The restaurant is in the basement of the building. The décor is more loungy than you would think for a ‘Mexican’ restaurant but very nice all the same. The staff was excellent, friendly, if not funny! But: Flour tortilla chips = not good! What do you have something against corn? Salsa = blah blah While I hate to say anything bad about a dollar taco: The beef tacos had grease pouring out of them as I was attempting to eat them. The lard made a lovely raised white pattern on the black paper table cloth after it re-congealed. I stopped eating after the one. While I haven’t gone there on a regular night for dinner I probably will not go there now. I could definitely hit the bar though. They say time heals all wounds.

The two stars Lime is receiving is solely for their tasty margaritas(available in any flavor imaginable). You can order the 21 oz. size and pretty much be set to go for the night! They also have a good $ 1 taco special each Tuesday, where you have your pick of chicken, beef, and fajita vegetable tacos on your choice of hard or soft shells. I’d say it’s worth checking out, especially with the $ 4 house margarita special offered(though it’s not very good, at least it gets the job done). Aside from coming here for drinks at the beginning of the night, I would advise others against going out to Lime for dinner(unless you’re in for the $ 1 taco night). I’ve heard very sketchy stories about the management and quality of food, and experienced firsthand the weird policy of not allowing happy hour participants to sit and order drinks outside(despite an empty patio). Lime, since you have to take a flight of stairs down, kinda feels like a techno dungeon, and it doesn’t help that at times it smells of a septic tank. My words of advice? Gulp down a margarita if you’re in the area and then head out elsewhere.

If you have a birthday or an event and you want to go Downton, The Lime is an amazing place to start the night! We let them know that we had a birthday, and when we arrived there was a booth with a «Happy birthday» sign posted already! The bartender we had was absolutely amazing. He had great recommendations, was really knowledgeable about tequila, took his time with our orders, and was really friendly. Their drinks are super strong and delicious! Just the way I like it! The food was good. Not great, but really good. However, their chips and salsa come with a mix of corn and flour chips, and the salsa is delicious! I would go back for chips & salsa, and cocktails any time.

Parking is a pin in the butt on weekends but you already assumed since this place is downtown. It gets pretty busy on holidays as well. It gets quite loud in here, and hot so be prepared. As a bar, this place is pretty average. Not bad but nothing to rave about either. I do like taco Tuesdays here. For $ 1 per taco, you can have chicken or beef and for $ 3 a taco, you can get shrimp. Pretty tasty margs too. Not a venue I would spend my entire night at. Good for grabbing a snack or a quick drink and then moving on.

Maybe it was my mistake for going on $ 1 Taco Tuesday, but stepping into Lime was like stepping into a slightly more upscale college bar. The food wasn’t bad, but wasn’t memorable. The drinks were reasonably priced. But the atmosphere was disappointingly loud and very college-ish. Maybe it had something to do with the DJ spinning tunes in the corner, but I was hoarse when I left. I’m only 33, but I swear I almost yelled at some kids at Lime to get off my lawn. Damn kids and their backwards plaid hats and Tapout shirts.

How is this dump still open? Really? I’m so confused!!! What…The ripped up booths and rude service isn’t enough? Their food tastes terrible and the place smells like paint thinner. Every time I give them a chance, I leave disappointed. AVOID!

I came here for Taco Tuesday’s $ 1 tacos. The atmosphere is pretty bangin. It’s mod, clean, dim but in a good way, partially romantic, partially harmless fun. I heard they usually give free chips and salsa before you get your meal but not on Tuesdays. So my friend and I ordered them for $ 2. The tortilla chips are not freaking chips. They’re like bread-y chips. It could be good or bad. But because it was so dough-y, it felt like I was eating an oil sponge. Salsa was just okay. I ordered a shredded chicken taco and a ground beef. I didn’t like the chicken too much because it was super salty. They use flour tortillas, which I like, but that automatically signals that it’s not an authentic Mexican taco. I love spicy so I had to drench my(eventually soggy) tacos with hot sauce. Didn’t do anything to the taco. It’s like it had an invisible, protective covering from letting you tweek the flavor. Three tacos are filling, but I wouldn’t come back again for the dollar tacos. No idea what the other menu items are like, maybe better? I heard there’s a bar on the other side. I would go to a different place if you know of any other taco deals.

I’ve eaten here 3 times in the past 18 months and every time was consistently bad. Unfortunately my friends all purchased a Groupon, so I’ve been suckered into going back more than I ever intended. The Service: Slow, unfriendly, did not refill water glasses even after being asked multiple times. The Food: Where do I even start? The chips could be good if they were fresh, but every time I’ve been there they taste old and borderline stale. The salsa is more reminiscent of tomato sauce from a can than salsa. The margaritas are awful to the point of almost being undrinkable. My entrees have always been incredibly bland and dry. No flavor whatsoever. There is nothing about this place that makes me want to eat there ever again. Don’t waste your money!

I don’t get all the bad reviews. This is place is great… for what it is. Americanized Mexican food that is actually quite good, but no matter how much you dress up a burrito, it’s still a burrito. This is by far one of the cheapest restaurants in LoDo. The portions are enormous. If you order an entrée, you will have enough leftover for lunch the next day. Edamame is an interesting choice for an appetizer. One of the best thing about the place is Happy Hour. There are also other specials, including Taco Tuesday. Great margaritas, cheap drinks, cheap food, huge portions, there’s very little to complain about. The dining area inside is quite small and noisy. The bar is also noisy, it attracts a very young crowd, which for many is a draw. This is not a «nice» place you would take a date for a quiet evening, but it is a nice, cheap alternative for a change of pace.

First one star in a while, but they really deserve it. The food… blah. The service… slow, unattentive(had to ask for some things three times) The ambience… smelly and stale. I can’t give one reason to go there, except low standards. It is definitely not worth the money. DT

My boyfriend and I stayed in Denver for a night while driving out to LA. We got into the city mid-afternoon without any plans and decided to walk around downtown and look for a place to have dinner. When we saw The Lime, in the back of an alley with a basement-level outdoor seating area, we were sold. I made a reservation and we sat outside because it was a beautiful night. The inside looked fun though. The food was good, nothing super-special, but definitely nothing to complain about either. The tequila shot in the lime-half was unexpected and fun(and the first tequila shot I’d ever done, even though I was 23 at the time!). We also had very good(huge!) margaritas, made extra-fun by the mile high effect(new to us, coming from Chicago). But the best part was the atmosphere. It was great to be outside but removed from the street. I don’t know if I would have given it four stars if it had been winter…(But then again, maybe I would have?)

Taco Tuesday is the ONLY time I ever go to lime. I don’t love the place but I don’t hate it. And for a $ 1 a taco its not a bad deal, the chicken ones are pretty good. Margaritas are strong, and lots of different flavors to choose from. Downside– the place gets packed and it is more like a club than a restaurant. Its ridiculously loud and don’t be surprised if you’re waiting over an hour for a table. Also the service isn’t great so don’t expect much there either. Overall– Fun place to go on Tuesdays, but wouldn’t really waste my time otherwise

So I got secretly excited when the group I was with went to the Rio Grande to find out that there was a wait. I slyly suggested that we try Lime down the street instead because we were in a rush so needed quick Mexican food and I heard that it was good! After some pushing, the group I was with conceded and we walked a couple blocks over to Lime. We got seated immediately but it took several minutes to get menus and chips and salsa started because they were«low on staff» and not expecting such«big crowds.» Eventually, we got our chips and salsa. The chips were fantastic, as other reviewers have said, but the salsa was not my favorite. It took a waiter forever to get to us and order food. Eventually we got guacamole which was very good and after waiting a little too long, got our food. I chose the cantina combo so I could try a little bit of everything. The tamales(which they are known for) was SO good. The best tamale I have had in a while. The chili relleno(which is probably my favorite mexican dish) was not that great, and the chicken enchilada with red chili was just OK. The combination of sub-par service and just okay mexican food lends me to the three stars. I may go back again for another tamale, but that might be the only drawing point.

I went to a «Girl’s Night Out» at Lime last week and I really enjoyed it. It was a bunch of law students after classes, and we just wanted to relax for a few. There was a large group of us, so they gave us a private room. The server was really nice, he could have come around a little more often. But he was really friendly when he did. I had a white sangria and a mini margarita that were wonderful. The group split a bunch of appetizers, and not one of them was bad. The scorpions are a must to try if you like shrimp. I really enjoyed the nachos and the quesadillas as well. Great guacamole. I plan on going back to try Taco Tuesday and Mojito Thursday.

I really have nothing bad to say about this place. The food was just ok, but the atmoshpere is great for enjoying your friends. The waiter bought us a round of tequila shots, so who can complain about that? My tortilla soup was decent, I like my food a bit more spicy but it was fine. They had a variety of interesting items on the menu like scorpians, which I had never noticed before. The drinks were strong and delicious. Uh, minus one star for the smelly, stank a dank bathrooms, but overall a solid social place for drinks and fun b-day parties. They try.

Lime was birthday party central when I went there last. I think like 75% of the tables had some sort of birthday party sign hanging around them. I did get to experience the strength of the margaritas that everyone talks about so maybe that’s why people choose to celebrate there so frequently. The bar itself is pretty trendy with really nice décor and a DJ that plays lots of throwback hip hop on the the weekends. This is a place that is definitely good to go to if you’re in a large group celebrating something. But, if you’re a couple or a few people looking for dinner try the location on 6th street, it’s quieter and better suited to that type of situation. My only complaint had to do with our waitress. While it was about 10:30 p.m., some of our party hadn’t eaten dinner yet. We asked her if they were still serving food and she told us the kitchen was closed. About 30 minutes later the DJ made an announcement reminding us not to forget how delicious the food on the late night menu was. Wait. What?
