My Express Grill & Cafe

The place is dirty and run down. Food is okay but nothing special. I don’t see how some reviewers have it 4 – 5 stars. Not coming back.

Great fast Mexican food, but high quality! Its a small clean but divey place with great build your own burritos and tacos (they do it for you like Chipotle). It was super cheap too, but that is not the point. If you are hungry and want good cheap food, this is the spot for you!

I tried My Express Café this morning for the first time. I ordered the Egg and bean burrito. They crack the fresh eggs right in front of you, no pre-​made substance. They then steam and pressed the large tortilla, asked what beans I wanted (3 choices I believe), I got the refried, added green chili sauce and Monterey Jack cheese. The price ended up being $ 3.87… GREAT DEAL. I got my burrito to go, ate it 5 minutes after leaving the store, and it was amazing! I recently moved from Austin, Tx to Denver and was unsure of the green chili but after eating it I am a believer in My Express. I will be going back. (They also have covered outdoor seating if that is something you desire)

so i ordered through a delivery service. I could have told them the complaints and havve them fix my order but I couldn’t. But, the nachos were without cheese and beans. you CANNOT have nachos without these things! aside from them not putting the fresh stuff on the side (salsa, guacamolte, sourcream) and making my nachos soggy, they gave me little bit of chicken. the chicken, or the little bit they gave me was good though. I give them that… and also, the Gyro sandwich and fries were delicious which is why i gave it a 3-​star rating.

OK. I’ll be the first to admit that this place looks a bit shady and is located in what appears to be an underground lair. But the food talks! This is a great place to grab a quick burrito on a lunch break. The chicken is tender and they load you up with meat and beans. When downtown I choose My Express over Chipotle due the the amount of food I receive for my dollar.

Pros:
Cheaper than Chipotle
Bigger portions that Chipotle and Qdoba (can you believe it!?)
Doesn’t take long to get food (it”s usually busier at lunch than dinner)
FREE student drinks!
A different lunch special everyday that’s always around $ 6
Cons:
Not the place you really want to sit down and eat at, even the patio…
Sometimes in the evening the staff doesn’t notice you so you have to yell for someone or sit and wait around a while
Even though they have set hours, they will sometimes close early on slow nights

Possibly the worst Gyro in the history of bad Gyros.

A few weeks ago I logged on to my checking account, and noticed that a charge looked funny. It was a charge from my express grille, for $ 25. I had eaten there that morning, and distinctly remember paying $ 23. Checked my receipt and saw that yes, I had paid $ 23.
Something felt fishy about the extra charge, but I decided to let it go – it’s only $ 2. I did however promise myself that I’d never go back to my express.
Well, it was really cold yesterday and I didn’t feel walking anywhere, so I broke my promise and went to my express. I ordered a burrito and a water bottle, which totaled at $ 7.78. Today, I check my bank statement – what do you know? They charged me $ 9.78!
I called my express and calmly explained to them the situation. They told me my bank charged me the extra $ 2. I called my bank, and they told me they would never charge me to use my card. They told me to talk to my express, and explain that I would open claims on the charges if they did not refund my money.
I went to my express, explained everything to them, and they simply told me my bank must be charging me the fee. They did however, offer me free breakfast, to which I politely declined.
As bad as I wanted to gorge on my express grille’s tasty food, I couldn’t do it. You see, I always wanted my express to do well. It was a great little place that was cheap, yummy, and had friendly service. It wasn’t chipotle, it wasn’t qdoba, but it was pretty damn good. I wholeheartedly supported the place, but sadly my express disappointed me. Anyway, I just couldn’t accepted the free meal because I really felt betrayed. I get it’s $ 2, but it’s the principal that bothers me.
I called my local bank and explained to them the story – immediately they told me to open claims against my express grille. I did of course, and am just waiting for resolution. In the meantime, I am writing reviews and just hoping that this will stop.

Place makes solid burritos for a great price, fast, and cheap. Staff is friendly. I will definitely be back!
My only knock is that the chicken could be of better quality.
