The Tavern Downtown

Great service! We held a happy hour event here on Social Media Day Denver! Great appetizers, drink prices, and very accommodating with our large group. We will definitely be back!

Pretty cool spot in my opinion. Plenty of space on both levels and a roomy outdoor deck with great views of the street and ballpark. They also have misters outside to keep you cool on the warmer summer days. Went here on a Sunday afternoon and there was a live DJ, Sunday funday games, and Rockies tickets giveaways. They also have fat Tuesdays hurricanes and a good selection of other drinks.
The service was good and it didn’t take too long to bring out the food. I ended up getting the volcano burger and at first glance it looked pretty basic. I was looking for some greenery, tomato and onion. That being said, the burger was delicious! Juicy patty cooked to spec and delicious fried ‘penas, bacon and sauce.
Overall a nice spot, cool location, great atmosphere and pretty good food, rounding up my 3.5÷5

I was at the Tavern tonight and I was far too drunk and feeling very sick (of no fault of the Tavern staff). The bartender (I’m so sorry that I didn’t catch your name) was so wonderful in helping me. She was compassionate and professional and had her job and my safety in mind. I wish I knew her name so that I could recommend her very highly to management. Thank you for your help and your patience and your compassion.
The service was wonderful, the bartenders were professional and on top of things, and the atmosphere was super fun.

This place has a nice rooftop. We enjoyed a drink up here on a nice Sunday afternoon. The music was loud with a DJ spinning. it was crowded and pretty high energy.

I was here last week, gave an honest assessment of my experience, which was all around terrible. From the unfriendly, slow service, to the microwaved food, to the drinks not made to style. Obviously, the GM didn’t like what he heard, since he found a way to get it removed from Unilocal.We’ll I’m not okay with that your business is terrible, and I recommend anybody coming here to go elsewhere. $ 6 Bud Lights served in plastic cups is not okay. $ 8-​$ 15 for apps that you microwave is not okay, and having poor service is not okay. Pass on the Tavern group, unless you don’t know where else to go, and then I feel sorry for you!

We went here after a Rockies game and we were frustrated we didn’t get service after 20 minutes. We told the bartender Ryan about our frustration. He found his manager Ken right away away and changed our entire experience. Literally because of Ryan at the bar, we went from mad to loving the Tavern. They take a lot of pride in taking care of their customers and made up for everything. Go here

Management issues are a MAJOR problem here. The wait staff are lazy and would prefer talking with their coworkers than doing their job. The chicken tenders are like ones from the freezer you make yourself and the rest of the food was lackluster. Our waitress messed up our order a few times and then overcharged us. Don’t waste your time and be fooled by a nice patio. I will not go back unless I discover they are under new management.

There is a manager by the name of Jessie I believe? She has got to be hands down the rudest manager I have ever encountered. She called my friends and I little ungrateful bitches and completely made a scene. When we asked for a manager she took forever to come over and my friend went to look around for her and found her smoking a cigarette on the side of the building hiding from us. The most unprofessional person I have ever seen in charge of an establishment. My family comes here a lot and spend lots of money here, but because of Jessie’s unprofessional and upright rude and mean behavior we will never be back which is a shame. You should really consider who is running your place and who is the face of this establishment because this person left an bad taste in our mouth to the point where we will never return. Get new management that is common sense you do not treat your customers like that. It was truly embarrassing for everyone involved.

Good Bloody Mary bar for Sunday brunch, pricey, but pretty decent.

I ordered the Philly cheesesteak sandwich today, the waitress asked if I wanted mushrooms/​peppers/​jalapeños/​onions on it (normal philly anywhere I have been) — it came out average at best, but I was charged $ 19 for it because of the toppings. Who (besides me) pays $ 19 for a philly sandwich, lol. I asked to talk with a manager to make sure they were aware of how it is a screw job and he simply said that it was «mark up». What a joke…

Great place to chill before a baseball game. Jasalyn was a fantastic waitress. my friend insist you had a missed connection, I apologize for his behavior.

Very disappointed. A few of the draft beers we ordered were pretty skunky. We ordered a few apps, to include chips and salsa. But minutes later… the waitress returned to let us know they «didn’t have chips and salsa.» But they did. You just had to order «the dip duo» which also came with cheese dip. Fine. But the 20 chips it came with went pretty quick.

Wish I could give zero stars. The thing that makes me the most pissed is that we spent $ 17 to park to get the worst service and worst food we’ve ever had. The bartender was the worst we’ve ever had. Couldn’t be bothered with us because there was a private party in another room he felt was more important. The food wasn’t just mediocre… it was tasteless. Don’t order the lettuce wraps unless you just want to taste lettuce. No flavor at all. Thought we were getting smothered fries and got just plain fries instead. Sat for about 15 minutes after we asked him to switch the TV to the game we wanted to watch. Don’t waste your time. The place was empty except for the private party. I totally understand why. There are lots of places in downtown Denver. I’m sure any one of them beat this place. TERRIBLE!

Just go to Chipotle… wins every time.

I got turned down from entering the Tavern simply because I am from Arizona but going to school up here, and only had an Arizona ID. One of the security guards knew it was fine and gave me the clear to enter; however, the second thought it was a fake. I have had questions from other bars before simply because the Arizona ID is so easy to copy, but upon further examination it’s always been fine. The security guard didn’t have enough confidence to take the ID and stated, «Well I don’t want you ruin your night.» I asked «Does that mean I can go in?» He responded with «Fuck no!»
Completely unprofessional and unbelievably rude.

Here for a bachlorette party, the bartender turned on the lights at midnight when they don’t close till 2am. Rude. We won’t come back.

Found this location just randomly perusing the area. We went to the upstairs area to have a few drinks and food on a Friday night. We had a group of about 14 people and they say us right away. The food was really good and hot. They took about 35 minutes to bring it out but it was worth the wait. Staff was polite and willing to help.
It was cold that night and they had the burners ok which was a plus. The restaurant is really close to the Rockies stadium and you can see it from upstairs. We enjoyed this place and would like to go back again. Cheers!

Happen to stop buy here for a quick lunch. Bonus we are from Michigan and the fans were representing in Colorado. U of M vs Mich State.

I’ve been here a few times for happy hour and have been totally pleased. However, we went here for lunch on Saturday with a group and it wasn’t much to talk about. The atmosphere was fun and it was a hot day so I was glad they had proper shading on the rooftop. However, our service was awful! Or waitress was constantly seen standing behind the bar chatting while we were being ignored. The food was okay but nothing amazing. One drink I had was tasty, but served in a plastic cup. The other was a Moscow mule amd I couldn’t taste the alcohol at all, so that was off. I probably won’t be going back to sit down.

I was about to give this review three stars, but it was no A-​OK. My boyfriend and I went here in the middle of a Sunday to relax on the rooftop deck during our vacation. As we sat at our table we were constantly being sprayed by all of the sprinklers. I could barely keep my eyes open and we had to move into the blistering sun since that was the only place that didn’t have sprinklers. As we sipped on our drinks we listened to the DJ. I am not sure if this was a practice run, but it was the oddest mix of transitions and constant scratching. He played some good songs, but it became difficult to enjoy as he did not just let a song play regularly without dubbing something else over it. We finally got around to paying the bill– 1 hard cider can and one 12 oz margarita (primarily sugar), $ 14. See ya never.

I recently stopped by this week after hearing the radio station playing music on the rooftop deck. I loved the slushy drinks along with the fun upbeat crowd. The only thing I wasn’t pleased about was that no one came to our table to ask if we needed any drinks or food (we were there from 2pm-​5pm.) Instead, we had to get up and wait at the bar for all of our drinks.
Overall, it was still really fun!

We came after a wedding and the atmosphere was great. It was a Sunday night so there weren’t very many people out.
The rooftop bar has a mister so it made it less hot. After it gets dark the view is amazing as well.
I have to say that our server was amazing. Tall girl with tattoos. We started off as a party of 4 but quickly multiplied to take over half the bar. She was on top of all the drink orders and all the food orders. It was quick and efficient. She was very friendly and when it came time to split the bill there was no mistake. Very good waitress!
For food I had some mini sliders and a side salad. A little better than bar food. The menu is very extensive with lots of choices.
I really like their drink menu with a few mule choices. I had their ruby mule and it was delicious. I would go back just to have another.

Before planning a work trip to Denver, I called the Warwick Hotel, where I was staying and inquired about places I must try while in Denver. The Tavern Downtown was one of their recommends for happy hour with fellow Oklahomans that had transplanted to Denver. Neither friend had been to The Tavern, but to all of our delight, the atmosphere, food and drinks were superb.
I not only enjoyed the company of my friends, but made new friends the the table nearby, making the atmosphere even more pleasurable.
If you take one thing from this review though, I have to say the fried pickles are the best fried pickles I have ever had to this day and I love fried pickles, so I get them everywhere. Since then, many others have disappointed me, as I crave the fried pickles from The Tavern. I know the secret is in the batter and I must try to replicate it at home, which means I will need to plan another trip to Denver to go to The Tavern. It will be a place I frequent every trip to Denver.
