University Valet Cleaners

Love these guys. Reasonably priced and they do alterations as well. Not as flashy as dependable, but they get the the job done.

I’ve been patronizing UVC for a half-​dozen years and have had nothing but excellent service. I’ve been taking alterations to them lately, and they’ve all come back in perfectly repaired condition. As one indication of their honesty, I took in a bathrobe for repairing a torn seam, and they recommended that I wash the robe myself after they’d repaired it rather than paying for cleaning there. Pretty good sign, I’d say.

Excellent, and fast consistent service. Locally owned and not a franchise or chain like that other cleaners that is all over Denver.

Aweful service, no loyalty to long time clients.
So in this neighborhood, not too many choice. My wife and I have gone here for 4 years. We’ve had some hiccups along the way, they stretch her sweaters by putting them on hangers despite her requests, starch my shirts when I ask for none and can’t always get out basic stains.
But this draws the line. They destroyed a very expensive dress shirt and made no apologies. Tried to blame me that shirt was years old even when it was not. I’ve been going there for 4 years, we spend about $ 100/​month and no «i’m sorry can we work something out.»

University Valet does an adequate job on my shirts, but I have never found the costumer service to be what I am looking for – requesting specific areas of attention on my items always feels like an imposition.

I’ve been to a number of cleaners in Congress Park, Cap Hill and East Colfax. This is the only one that has provided consistently good work. My clothes are clean, they are open during posted business hours, prices are fair, no losses or mistakes.
The most notable difference is that my clothes do not have that ‘dry cleaned’ smell to them, yet the prices are much more fair than the natural/​odor free cleaners I have tried in the past.
Will continue to go to them. I hope the new Trader Joe’s does not cause them to move far or close their doors completely.

I would review this business with 0 stars if I could. This cleaners offers good service unless something goes wrong. Then, anyone with authority is impossible to get ahold of and many promises are made that are never fulfilled. They refused to refund the cleaning costs for a ruined garment, much less provide any kind of compensation for the garment itself.
Wife and I dropped off 2 shirts, 2 suits, and a cocktail dress on a Sunday in anticipation of attending a wedding the following weekend.
We were told we could pick up the garments Wednesday. Went Wednesday to get the clothes: shirts and suits were great. The dress? Not so much.
The dress was originally black and white. It was now black with visible bleeding into the white areas. We immediately complained to the clerk and are told that we would be contacted later (around 5:30 pm) by a manager. 5:30 came and went with no call from the manager. We eventually called the store and were told that the manager would contact us. We then heard a background conversation as the clerk attempted to get the manager on the phone but the manager seemed to be resisting.
Eventually we got to talk. He told us that he thinks he can fix the dress, but does not think he can make our timeframe for departing for the wedding that weekend. He tells me he will see what he can do and contact me between 8am and 9am the next day.
8am and then 9am comes and goes and no contact from the manager. My wife purchases a new dress since it is obvious we are not getting her original dress back in time. We attend the wedding and never hear from the manager.
The following week (Wednesday) I drive to the store to see about the dress. The clerk gets it and it is obvious that the dress is still not correct. There is no longer any visible bleeding but the white areas are now tinged with a brown color, rendering them more of an off-​white to cream color. I explain to the clerk that this dress is still not cleaned properly. She says she will have the manager call me. I explain that the last two times the manager was supposed to contact me, he has not done so. She assures me he will contact me later that day. I said ok and left. He did not contact me.
On Thursday I call the cleaners and explain the situation, also explaining that I was supposed to have been contacted by the manager and was not. I explain that I will be stopping by the following day
(Friday) between 4 pm and 4:30 pm to pick up our dress. I said I would appreciate it if the manager was there. I said I would like to have our dress back as well as receive a refund for the cleaning costs.
My wife and I both go to the cleaners on Friday during the time I had specified. She inspects her dress and confirms it is still improperly cleaned. I ask the clerk where the manager was (this poor lady was a real trooper dealing with this), and she called him. I talk to him on the phone and he tells me that the garment cannot be fixed because of the fabric. Despite the tag of the dress specifically stating the dress can only be cleaned professionally, he is telling me that the fabric is to blame and that I should return the dress. I am moderately shocked. I explain to him that we no longer have the receipt for the dress, there are no identifying markings that would signify we purchased the dress at the place that we did, and that no department store is going to accept a return for a clearly ruined garment. We were also well outside any reasonable return timeframe. He offered to attempt the return for me. I told him no, I would prefer that we take the dress and get a refund for the cleaning costs.
I am told I cannot have a refund put back on my credit card but he would be willing to give me a $ 30 credit for the next time I come in. I am incredulous now. I ask why I would ever come back when he ruined one of our garments and did not take responsibility for it. I ask why I should be willing to trust him when he has repeatedly promised to contact me and never does so. I say I would much prefer just getting a refund of the cleaning costs and leaving. He says no and tells me I should take the $ 30 because «he has already lost money cleaning the dress again». I tell him that is absurd, he ruined a garment and should not be complaining about lost money. He proceeds to repeat that it is not his fault but is the fabric.
I can see that I am getting nowhere so I explain to him that I am going to take our dress and leave. I also say that I am highly considering writing a negative Unilocal review and filing a BBB complaint. I hand the phone back to the clerk and ask for our dress. She starts talking to the manager and says that the manager would be willing to mail me a check for $ 30. I look at my wife and agree, writing down my address for him to send the check. After two weeks, we have not received a check.
Update: after a BBB complaint, I finally got a check.

A friend of mine is a connoisseur of service and value, so when she mentioned to me that this was her cleaners, I immediately adopted them. Her endorsement was enough-​I didn’t even need to know why.
Now that I’ve been using them for about six months, I can share why they are deserving of top honors:
They clean my clothes expertly, I don’t flinch at the price, and if there is too much to carry they help me get it to my car. They are not an express service, but they have worked with me to arrange a tight turn around.
I will warn you that this shop isn’t much to look at– it is almost severely simple and plain– if you are after the sports-​bar-​like experience of big TVs and neon lights, I suggest the overpriced franchise in Cherry Creek.

I have one rule when buying clothes: if it says «Dry Clean Only» I don’t buy it, no matter how cute it is. But when I decided to wear my mom’s heirloom wedding dress for my own wedding I had to venture into unfamiliar territory to get it cleaned.
Luckily I went to University Valet Cleaners. The owners are super friendly, very knowledgeable, and worked with me to make sure I got exactly what I needed at a fair price. Normally they charge a lot more to clean a wedding dress, but because mine was smaller and less «poofy» they charged me significantly less. Plus they sewed up a tear at no extra charge!
I was nervous getting this irreplaceable dress cleaned, but University Valet Cleaners did an amazing job: the final result was beautiful! I will definitely go to them again for alterations, repairs, and cleaning :)

I have been coming here for years but have never had anything cleaned. I come here for the alterations — these folks are top notch. But be prepared for the sticker shock, they are not cheap but I would rather pay for quality.

Excellent service, price and reliability. Always attentive to special requests and do so without having to get shafted. I’ve made this a regular stop for my shirts and other such, and have never been disappointed.
Also a couple weeks ago, I brought in a jacket that needed a repair to the zipper — and was very pleasantly surprised that the owner offered to do it at no charge! I picked it up and found it restored to great condition. Highly recommend this spot for anybody who needs it.

Good service, good prices. Pretty much what a dry cleaner should be: didn’t ruin or lose my clothes. You’d be surprised at how difficult that can be for some cleaners.

So far so good.
I went there once to get some things dry-​cleaned in a pinch. Dependable Cleaners at Cherry Creek just seemed so expensive compared to this.
They are across the street for me — convenient. They did a good job on the clothes and were incredibly friendly.

A-​OK. Good reliable cleaners.
One star because their prices are pretty cheap compared to neighboring dry cleaners.
Another star because they have never lost nor misplaced any of my clothes.
Third star because the service is friendly and they now seem to remember who I am (I think).
