Maybe I’m partial because I’ve been coming here with my family since I was a little bambini, and maybe because it was my first pizza, but this is the most amazing pizza from here to the west coast. I always compare every pie to theirs, and none have lived up to this standard. The same smiling faces have been here since I was 5 years old, and they always treat you like family. I’ve since moved to Los Angeles(not permanently), and always get a pie when I get back to Denville. It’s my comfort food, and I hope you guys are always there when I get home!!! XOXO

The best traditional, established pizza place in town. Excellent pizza plus a large menu of quality Italian dishes such as calzone and stromboli. Throw in tasty hot and cold Italian hero’s on fresh bread and welcome to Italian food heaven. Only drawback — no delivery. But hey, you want to taste food like you had in the old neighborhood you have to go get it. Mangia!

WONT deliver past 4pm!!! The counter girl hung up on me tell me they don’t deliver when they do. Always order here when I’m at work.

Depending on the night the food is completely different. On fridays you will get great food. my family had the best Italian subs last Friday. We ordered 3 of them last night for pickup and we open them up at home and they had no onion or tomato on them. and no oil and vinegar! Was not good at all. I even asked for everything on them. Boy was I embarassed to suggest food from them. my entire family threw them out. Consistent quality food needs to be done! Come on guys.

I grew up on this pizza and I’ve yet to find any other that comes close. The flavor of their sauce is what sets them apart. Hasn’t changed in the 20 years I’ve known it. Top notch. Love it.

Good crust, sauce has way too much sugar, okay cheese. Place needs a good cleaning. Probably won’t be back.

Decent pizza for a late night snack. Friendly staff. Prices are normal for the area. 2 Slices(1 roni), Bottle Water, 6 garlic knots = less than $ 8. TV to pass the time. Roomy dining area with clean interior. Enjoy.

Been coming here since I was a kid and whenever I need a slice I go right back. The workers are great and the pizza is awesome.

Good cheese pizza, perfect crust, hint of oregano. Nothing to go out of your way for, but it’s not bad either. Margherita is good too, though the sauce tastes a bit like tomato soup and could be have a bit more tang than it does.

The gold standard. I practically grew up at Pavolo’s and to this day measure all other pizza by this. Sal and Lenny built a Denville landmark and have consistently served awesome food for over 30 years. What can I add about the pizza? I could eat this every day of my life and die happy.

This is the pizza I grew up on and the standard for which all other pies(for me) are measured. I live in Hopatcong now but still come back several times a year for their sicilian which, to this day, is still the best I’ve ever had. The dough has just the right amount of width and softness to it, the sauce is a tad sweet and the cheese has never changed in the 30+ years I“ve been going there. From what I can remember, the sandwiches are very good but I always go for the sicilian. Ownership has also stayed the same for all this time so the food has been consistent over 3 decades.

I love pizza(ok, let’s be honest, I love food), and even though I have my favorites, I don’t mind trying new places. I’ve had some great pizza in the area, and I’ve had some crappy pizza in the area(and some REAL crappy pizza outside the NJ/NY area). Pavolo’s is somewhere in the middle, in fact, a little better than average so really– 3.5 stars. What I’ve always liked is how friendly everyone is behind the counter… anyone who’s followed my Unilocal knows how much I hate crappy service, it these folks are always friendly. The first time I went to Pavolo’s I have to admit, I didn’t think the slices were great, but it was late and they had probably been out for a while… every time after that, they’ve been good. I haven’t had a sandwich there, but the regular and Sicilian pizza is pretty good. In a pinch, I’d have no problem grabbing some slices at Pavolo.

Some of the best pizza I have had but their chicken parm is unbelievable. I typically buy trays of it for parties and guests. You can cut it with a fork. Their garlic knots are really good also. Have not tried their subs.

My son has tried pizza in probably 100 places in his life and says that Pavolo’s is the best.

Very average pizza, sandwiches are no big deal and the chef salad was loaded with garlic. Tried it based upon Unilocal reviews, but travel down 46 to Rockaway for at least two better places.

We have been looking for a good pizza place since we moved her 2 years ago… and glory be, we found it tonight! Had just cheese pizza… also ordered ziti with eggplant and sausage. This was absolutely heavenly! I usually don’t eat pasta — it’s just not my thing. This ziti was phenomenal! So food 5 stars, service 3 ½ — the woman that took our order was none to pleasant and she gets 2 stars, the guys that helped ring us up and gave us extra bread get the 5 stars.

This place has the best plain slice on the planet. The people that work here have been nothing but awesome to me ever since I started comin in on the regs when I was 13. Realest spot to get a slice in Denville. Something about their sauce…

Back in the 1980’s, I worked at the bank by Pavolo’s. I must have eaten lunch there every day. Pizza burgers, hero sandwiches, baked ziti — and of course, the PIZZA! Both their regular and Sicilian pizzas are the best I’ve ever had. And I’ve had pizza from all over NJ and NY. Twenty-two years ago I moved to Northern CA. No pizza that I tasted here came close to being as good as Pavolo’s. My family finally had a chance to experience Pavolo’s two years ago during their first visit to NJ. My children’s reaction was, «Pavolo’s has the best pizza. They must be famous for their pizza!» My daughter has even requested that we have a pizza shipped here for her birthday. :-)

I’ve been in San Francisco for almost 20 years now. When people ask me what I miss about NJ, without pause, every time, the answer is Pavolo Pizzeria! I grew up riding my bike here in just my swim suite and flip flops, sitting at the counter eating pizza by the slice. Love it!!! Miss it!!! Looking forward to my upcoming 20 year reunion(MK class of ’89) so I can get my fix! Side note — when telemarketers call, we always answer«Pavolo’s Pizzeria»…that’s how much this pizza is still on my mind.
