I’ve been hesitant to write a review of this place because it’s the closest supermarket to me; I was worried they’d see the review and slice my cold cuts too thick or stuff my bags too heavy so the bottoms collapse when I left the store. However, I’m not even sure the people who work here know what Unilocal is. I like to sandwich(no pun intended) the good with the bad so I’ll start with the good. The store is never crowded and has a nice selection of Italian groceries(likely due to the fact that this area is home to many Italians). Another positive is that they sell food. Ok, so there are several things that disturb me about this Adam’s. Most importantly, on many occasions, the food is being sold past its expiration date. That seems rather unhealthy and doesn’t inspire confidence about state of the store in general. For example, several months ago I brought some Sabra Hummus up to the cashier to report that it was a week past its expiration date and the next time I was there the expired hummus was still there. Other things I’ve noticed is the milk section always has milk on the shelf that has leaked or broken from a container – so when you pick up the container it’s dripping with milk. Also, if you go at the wrong time of day, and you shop in the back area by the bakery, you get this smell on your clothes that really will not go away unless you wash it; not exactly sure what that is. The silver lining is that the employees are very nice but I really would rather not have to shop here.

I give this 3 stars because it’s not a good grocery store. You think you get a better deal by coming here, but some of the product is not fresh. I would rather go to stop and shop and pay more money for fresher and safer products for my family

The one thing I find completely unacceptable about this store is that the bakery personnel rarely wear gloves when packaging or working with unwrapped bakery products. I have complained numerous times to management who says they will take care of it but it never changes. I have actually seen bakery employees wipe their nose, scratch their heads, run their fingers through their hair and then pick up a pastry and package it. The personnel in the deli wear gloves all the time so I don’t understand why the bakery does not(and by the way, the deli personnel can’t figure out why the bakery seems to be exempt!) The store itself has an overall appearance of uncleanliness and the quality of the produce and meats are second-rate. Prices used to be competitive but are no longer so I find it hard to think of a reason for me to take my business to the Adams Market. It’s a shame because this area desperately needs a quality supermarket and if they were to clean up their act I could see their business boom.

Definitely a throwback grocery store — has not seemed to change much since I was in high school. My dad likes to get his lotto tickets and newspapers here so that is really the only time I go in here. It is much smaller than the super grocery stores and is the closest grocery store if you live on the hilltop.
