Wonderful food at reasonable price. Friendly staff are very accommodating of a group on short notice. Clean and comfortable little shop. We will visit often. Denise

Closed. I had just discovered this place and loved it. Had a great reuben and banana blitz. It went out of business a week later and space is for rent. Sad.

I work near the intersection of Broadway and Birch/Crystal Ave, but until yesterday I had never been to Sundae Delite. I always went to D’Angelo’s for lunch because Sundae Delite’s store front makes it look a little run-down…a little less-than-appetizing. I’m glad I went with my gut today! Make sure to bring CASH, because they don’t take credit or debit, but there are a few ATM’s around the area. I got a really tasty tuna melt for $ 3.00 – perfectly toasted, with lettuce and tomato. It was awesome! For a grand total of $ 6.25, I left with a tuna melt on rye, a small fountain drink, and a small(but good-sized) chocolate soft-serve in a cone. You can barely buy one sandwich for that price at the chain sandwich shops. The inside of the shop was a little dark, but there’s ample seating. It looks like a place that time forgot. I hope you check it out; I’m sure I’ll be back!

Excellent Rubens for real cheap! For 2.50 you really can’t go wrong. There’s a few other sandwiches offered, hot dogs, nachos, soups all for incredibly reasonable prices(almost all under $ 5!) They also have a large selection of ice cream, I got the Grasshopper blitz and it was excellent! The music was a little weird(Broadway show tunes) and the restaurant was a little on the cold side, but it is definitely worth it :)

Over the past year, I’ve noticed a small shop named Sundae Delite which is technically located on Birch Street behind the Derry Chinese Express(same 49 E Broadway address). I thought this place was strictly small ice cream shop. Recently, I decided to stop in here for a cold ice cream treat and oh boy!!! I was pleasantly surprised not only do they offer ice cream treats(cones, sundaes, floats, blitzs, hurricanes.) but also grilled items such as Maple Leaf franks(grilled or steamed), sandwiches, melts, Mexican pizza, bagged chips, Coke fountain drinks, candy, and other neat treats. The prices here are super cheap. I thought for second this was a cruel joke and I was having a 1992 reoccurrence! No gimmick! For example, two dogs, chips, & soda($ 4), gyro($ 3.50), fish patty($ 2.50), grilled cheese($ 1.25), melts($ 2.50), Coke fountain drinks($ 0.50 small/$ 1.00 large) and banana boat($ 3.99), prices as of August 2008! This casual eatery is order at the counter with booth/table seating & counter seating and an open kitchen/grill, all in the same area. The atmosphere is classic and the wood walls are decorated with lots of historic black & white photos of Derry, pages taken from the Images of America series. I have a large collection of those cool books in my library. I initially ordered a large Grasshopper Blitz($ 3: vanilla soft serve mixed with Grasshopper cookies) and a large Diet Coke($ 1: 21 oz cup), but decided to order some hot food and dine-in for dinner. I enjoyed my Grasshopper Blitz first, which was smooth and creamy, while my food was being cooked to order. I picked up my food from the counter when it was ready. The Mexican Pizza with Chili($ 3) was actually nacho chips topped lettuce tomatoes, melted cheese, and spicy chili, a good appetizer. The Reuben($ 2.50: corned beef, sauerkraut, shredded Swiss cheese, Russian dressing on light rye bread) was grilled to perfection and very tasty. The staff was courteous and asked how the food was and if I needed more light where I sat. Everything was all good with the natural light already shining through the front window and the air conditioner and fans on full blast keeping the place nice and cool. Whenever I’m in Derry, I now know where to go for some good cheap eats and treats. I’m kicking myself for not visiting this place much sooner. It was a «Sundae Delight» on a warm delightful Sunday evening! HOURS: Mon-Sat: 11AM-9PM; Sun: 2PM-9PM
