Okay this used to be another restaurant with a similar name before something like«Moon Over Lima» or something like that. Well they are not the same owners that other one went under after a very short shelf life and before of course we all know that this used to be the famous«Steaming Blues Crab House» in a previous life from long ago. The new owner is a likable young guy with a brand spanking new baby that his wife had during opening week so I hope that business will pick up for him he’s got a lot on line here. Which however brings me to growing pains of a new business. Wife and I stopped in here when they were barely a week or two open. The place was a ghost town no one there. A big problem is signage it is near impossible to make out the name of this place with the temporary vinyl sign stretched across the front. Those of you who are familiar with Muncaster Mill Rd right here will know what I’m talking about. This is a converted farm house right on a very very busy fast moving road and having a sign unlit at night facing flat parallel to the road… well you just can’t see it speeding past at 60+mph. It needs to be out up and above lite up so that people will have plenty of time to see it. Then the owner must reach out to the local community to get people who live right there aware of his new presence then that should help on that front. Unfortunately on the food front well lets just say that maybe he should consider taking the Peruvian chicken off the menu. I know that it is not your major thing there like we talked about but still I have had some fantastic Peruvian all over MD and VA so to compete against those places on that level you must either step it up up and away or try something different and besides it took forever for it to come out I estimate about 45 minutes. The quality on that was quite disappointing with it being mushy and not seasoned well at all. The rest of the menu is simple and no frills with items such as grilled shrimp, skirt steak and fries, mussels and fries to pulled BBQ chicken sandwiches or buffalo wings. Really a little bit of this or that suitable for the bar which they have. So maybe the feel I get from here is «neighborhood bar» and hang out for locals serving up a little twist on bar grub. I hope that they can work through those first weeks growing pains and it’s been a while since I have been up there(about 3 months now) so I’m going back up there this week and I hope to see a big change for the better. I’m really pulling for the owner with this tough economy and with his new family and all. If he does it right push the bar portion get some live entertainment in there this would be a great alternative to «Outta the Way Café». We’ll see only time will tell to either sink or swim… I hope for Moon of Lima… swim. he’s sure got his work set for himself.
