Esquire got it right: one of the finest men’s clothing stores you’ll find anywhere and certainly Iowa’s best. Top-​notch contemporary and classic styles with exceptional customer service and tailoring. Special shout out to staff member David N. for not only helping me assemble the perfect outfit for an event, but then going above and beyond by making a personal out-​of-​town delivery after tailoring on a tight deadline.

I LOVED my recent visit to Badowers. High end casual fashion and some really nice heritage menswear. I’m in New York and Los Angeles all the time, and I loved the attentive and enthusiastic guys that worked there. Good old fashioned midwestern kindness. I bought a great Irish made sweater that I know I will wear for years, likely decades to come. As a very minor criticism, I would say to the salespeople to make less suggestions and let people wander the store a little more on their own. While I was really happy with my purchase and with the great service, I did leave the store feeling like I didn’t get to browse quietly on my own. Less salesmanship. You don’t need it. You’re nice guys and you sell good stuff. :)

Badowers can make you look like a million bucks! Great suites, raw denim jeans, hell they even have bib overalls!
The store is awesomely designed and I’m always excited to see how they decorate their store front every time I drive down Ingersoll!
The staff is super nice and I have been to a few events here there were totally rad! Now this is not a place to buy an outfit you are going to wear during yard work! It’s a place to get that outfit for those special occasions and that you want to look like you might be walking down the red carpet!
Sometimes you feel how you look and Badowers and make you feel good!
Also have a tailor on hand, but be sure to get your stuff in early cause sometimes the tailor is super busy!

I have shopped at Badowers to some degree since 1982. The current management has transformed and revitalized the store into a unique hip, urban haberdashery.

Badowers (and Proper for Women) is a fashionable Men’s clothing ;and accessories store In an increasingly trendy Des Moines. Who knew?
Actually, I grew up in Iowa and during those years, my fashion choices included such items as polyester leisure suits and bib overalls. Iowa has come a long way since then and so have I (although Gayle might have something to say about that).
Badowers reminds me more of Machus in Portland and other trendy clothing stores in the San Francisco Bay Area. I had a chance to stop in (after the Iowa State Fair) with the Kid last summer at their handsome Ingersoll «Brick and Mortar» location. Even my «casual» High School Son was was super impressed. I’ve also made a purchase or 2 from their well-​considered web site and you might want to check this place out too.

I love this store! It has such a great selection of mens clothing, shoooooooes, accessories, skincare, leather goods… I can go on and on. All such great designers and local designers too! For sure worth checking out. I really appreciated quality stores like this one when I’m home visiting from San Francisco. And everyone who works here is so awesome and helpful! Check em out!
