I miss the wonderful service from Big Daddy, an when the workers still come out at a stand in front of the fareway store sometimes, I always get several sandwiches(cant rezist) just wish there was slaw with them too!!!

We were very discouraged this evening when Big Daddy’s catering truck failed to show up. They had been hired to sell barbequed foods at a Jazz in July event in Greenwood Park in Des Moines. Hundreds of participants went hungry instead. Please don’t even consider hiring them for your next event.

Didn’t get to eat the bbq here, but I did get a botle of the sauce to take home to SC with me. Now, being from SC, I am VERY picky when it comes to bbq and sauces. I am a huge fan of mustard based sauces, but not too big on tomato or katchup based. I figured, why not get some and take it home anyway. If anything, my father in law will like it. I tried it out on some pork I had the other day and it was pretty good. Probably some of the best red bbq I’ve ever had. I just wish I had actually gone to the bbq place and tried it out.

Holy crap. Since I’ve been a small child I have a had fascination with hot food. I love extremely hot cuisine. At an Indian Restaurant in my hometown they had a heat category named after me. I have been very lucky in my quest to have attained my goal of finding the hottest food I have ever had early in life. And I have found it in the east side of Des Moines, Iowa no less. Big Daddy’s is not in the best of neighborhoods. It’s spartan and simple. The food itself is adequate and tasty for the money paid. The real star here are the sauces. There are a wide variety of them to choose from and they are all are delicious. But if you are a capsaicin junky like me, this is your Taj Mahal. The place to stop before you die. Big Daddy’s BBQ Sauces are unquestionably the hottest substance I have ever ingested, and I even had the 5th from the hottest. As a guy who can eat raw habanero peppers by the handful, this was a complete curve ball to find in Des Moines, Iowa.
