My girlfriend is obsessed with their deep dish and Felix fries. I think their thin crust is excellent compared to others in the area. Newly remodeled and looking great! They deliver to my area which I love

Nice free party room for a group event. Courteous, helpful waitstaff. Delicious pizza with the best crust in town. Thanks for a great experience!

Nothing like actual Chicago stlyle. Dough was 9⁄10 the pizza. It was literally like eating at a pizza place from the 80’s, just not as good. But if you like warm beer, then this is your place!

Hmm. I was disappointed with Felix & Oscar’s deep dish pizzas. The dough was just too dense and lacking in flavor, as was the sauce. While pizza is usually good«even if it’s not that good», deep dish pizza is a whole different animal and Felix & Oscar’s needs to step it up on flavor to make this work. Not even all the toppings in the world helped my experience. Service was fine but that dough… I am still searching for good deep dish(Giordano’s style) in Des Moines

Ordered delivery… first time in iowa, not sure what to expect. Was okay, just not familiar with the type of crust used on the traditional crust Pizza. Bones wings were standard

The deep dish topper pizzas are what we adore here. So full of quality ingredients and cheese. Our favorite is the Western Cheese Topper which is Canadian Bacon, BBQ sauce and lots of cheese. We add green olives for a great contrast. I also really enjoy several of the apps but most of the other menu items are just standard/good food but average. They have gone through a remodel that makes the space a lot more updated. There seems to me to have been an improvement in service as well verses years back. The deep dish does take a long time to prepare but that info is right on the menu. I am hosting my rehearsal dinner there in the party room they have. They worked with me to schedule my time and the process has been pretty easy thus far.

Great place for weekend breakfast. Fantastic buffet and friendly staff. My family and I go there three times a month. Although I wish they would stop making potatoes with onions, they have a good selection of food. It never seems too busy so we get in and get out. I believe I’d they advertised they would get new customers.

I think Felix and Oscar’s is a pizza place. It’s in a hidden spot that you can’t see from the main road, so it took me a bit to even find it. I don’t want to be mean, but I can’t see how this place stays in business. The place is hidden(as I have said), it looks kinda run down, and the pizza is the worst I’ve had in Des moines.

Still not impressed with this place. It is average. It is cold when the weather is cold outside. A huge draft enters the restaurant when someone comes in or goes out. Staff was friendly. They could really use an update to the place itself as its menu.

Love this place. Been coming since I was a kid. The recent remodel has set this place apart from what it used to be. Iowa Bar/restaurant for sure. A GREAT sports bar/restaurant for families. Chicago style pizza, and many offerings for Gluten Free as well. Local beer and just recently started a brunch on weekend. This time I had my favorite Gluten Free Pizza in town!(always order extra crispy) We also order the skin fried wings, love wings cooked this way, no breading needed when you get a crunch from skin. We order sauces on side, i eat them plain with ranch, not biggest fan of the buffalo. Still some of my favorite wings!

I odered from here for the first time and I was terribly disappointed. I was staying one night in des Moines and while in my hotel room I decided to try this restaurant and order takeout. I ordered BUFFALO wings which were dry and burned with no sauce at all. I also ordered the Fettuccini Alfredo and the noodles were over cooked and the sauce was super thick and clumpy. I couldn’t even eat it. I wasn’t even able to twirl it around my fork that’s how thick and gross it was smh. The garlic bread was soggy as well. The pasta came with a garden salad which happened to be the only edible thing I ordered smh.

Overall this place was a good place to eat and most of the stuff there was good. I had a burger fries and they were both pretty average. we also onion rings and cheese curds for appetizers which were pretty average as well. As for the service waitress was nice and was talkative. Our food got to us quickly and in good shape. The place however, was kind of old looking. Also the booths were very small and all of the tables are pretty crowded together in the middle of the room. Average place, Family friendly, and some place to go when you want a quick and effortless dinner.

A must if you like or want to try Chicago style deep dish pizza. Love the onion ringers too. Wished they would bring back the mac & cheese bites. If you do mind waiting call your order ahead, because deep dish pizza takes awhile too cook.

If the review was only for the food, it would be at least 4 stars. The actual food we had was VERY good. We had individual deep dish pizzas, and dessert. The cookie dough bites were very, very good. Hot and sweet. The service, however, left a LOT to be desired. My drink went empty twice, and stayed empty for at least 5 minutes each time. Our waitress took forever to come back to check on us and take our orders, as well as to give us our check. We ate here Sunday afternoon, and it was not busy at all. I can forgive service like this if it’s busy, but there were only two other tables in the whole restaurant. The server also mumbled and seemed to just not care at all. In conclusion, the food was good. The service left a lot to be desired.

What happened F&Os??? We used to love your food and hadn’t been in a few months, we return and you have pretty new tables, flooring and chairs, but it seems you have sacrificed food and service quality, no bueno!!! I am giving it 3 stars due to past experiences. We LOVED this place(5 star loved). I don’t care about décor, if the food is good, that’s more important to us than looks(we aren’t so shallow). On a VERY recent trip, we came here for dinner and they switched the entrances, opened it up and it really does look much better. We were seated on what used to be the bar side and from past experiences, don’t prefer dining on that side. Why?(you may ask) because of the service. They have a couple men that typically serve on that side and they are not great or good or in our case, present? He came to our table in good timing, got our drink and food order and he did not visit us again until it came time for our check. This is a Monday night, it was NOT busy in any sense of the word. Someone else brought out our appetizer and cleaned up those plates, another lady brought our pizza and refilled our drinks. Meanwhile, he was merely 8 ft away waiting on other tables and he just kept ignoring us — so, if you are reading this, dear server, you now know why you got a lousy tip. We always give 20% unless service goes above and beyond or sadly in this case, severly lacking. This experience was definitely lacking. So, not only was the service horrible, our food was not as good as it used to be. We started off with the onion tanglers and they were so greasy, we kept tasting them the rest of the night(ew!) Our pizza, which we so dearly loved, was lacking salt. The crust was bland, the sauce was bland, what happened??? The crust used to be flaky and have a great flavor. We used to love the cheese topper and would tell everyone in town to go here instead of the chain at the next door mall, but now, we can no longer sing your praise. You lost 2 stars from this one experience. Also, bring back the awesome female servers you used to employee. Where are they? They were much better than the service we received. If this were our first visit, we would have given the experience a 1 star. I am shaking my head in disappointment as I regretfully write this review. We were so excited to visit you and you let us down that I am not sure we will visit again. We want the old Felix and Oscar’s back. It was far superior than the newly remodeled one.

Visiting Merle Hay Mall for either shopping or movie purposes, I always pass by Felix and Oscars and hear that they have great deep dish Chicago style pizza. Well, we decided to give this place a try, but didn’t feel like having pizza that day, so this review will focus on the non-pizza items this place has to offer. The exterior of the business looks very out-dated and poor in my opinion. This is why upon entering I was taken-aback at how nice it was. The interior is very well designed and there are a ton of TVs for all your sporting needs! There is also a full bar, what I’m getting at is, the interior is very nice. When we ate here, it wasn’t too busy, only a handful of other tables. I’m not sure how busy this place usually gets, but it was nice eating in a somewhat peaceful atmosphere. For appetizers we ordered the Cheddar Nuggets, which are basically cheese curds, it tasted okay. For a drink, we shared the Strawberry Shortcake Irish liquor drink, this was very tasty! For our entrees we had the Fettuccini Alfredo with chicken and F&O’s Special Pasta. Both comes with a salad which tasted good. The F&O’s Special Pasta tasted okay, the flavors had some variety, but overall tasted pretty standard. The Fettuccini Alfredo with chicken however is a different story, it wasn’t good at all. The alfredo cream was too heavy and too much, it was basically a soup when they served it. The taste was very bland, there was no variety, it honestly tasted like I was eating alfredo sauce. The chicken was bland as well, there was no taste to this dish. I am definitely willing to give this place another try to see how their pizza is. For now, I would advise to stray away from the Fettuccini Alfredo dish.

Felix and Oscar’s is my favorite pizza in Des Moines, hands down! They offer thin crust, Chicago style deep dish, and the cheese topper deep dish with a wide variety of toppings, as well as pastas, sandwiches and a variety of appetizers. They also offer gluten free options. We order takeout regularly(online ordering available), and the pizza is always as good when we get it home as it is when we eat in their comfortable restaurant. They employ GREATPEOPLE, and they go above and beyond to make sure everything is amazing every time. I love their bacon cheeseburger and pepper jack pepper pizzas, and gladly drive across town to get their pizza! A must visit!

Good food? BESTCHICAGODEEPDISHTHISSIDEOFTHEMISSISSIPPI Good service? Alicia has been there forever, and is great when you are a regular Good atmosphere? recently renovated barside, a lot cleaner than it was Worth the price? Yes Will we go back? Everytime we are in Des Moines I have been a regular at Felix and Oscar’s my whole life. In high school I went every Friday, and it was always the restaurant of choice for birthdays and graduations. The menu has changed up a bit throughout the years, the décor has been updated, and they have opened and closed a new location. However, the pizza has not changed for at least 25 years because it is that good and keeps people coming back! This place is great for hungry eaters, pizza lovers, families, and friends watching sports. It is a guaranteed stop every time I visit Des Moines.

There are not too many places for deep dish pizza in Des Moines. F & O’s is a decent place for that. It is a good, solid pizza with plentiful ingredients. Their crust is more flaky than chewy. It is okay, but is not extremely flavorful. They have a slightly chunky sauce that adds some texture. Our service was attentive, with our waitress quick on drink refills. You have to wait a bit the the pizza, but she made sure she checked on us often on a fairly busy Friday night. The place is much nicer than it used to be, but that isn’t saying much. It is big and open, too bright at night, with many televisions. Come for food(or a ballgame) not the atmosphere.

So we were forced to use our groupon due to the free meal we received after our last disastrous experience. We ordered carryout in hopes to avoid any mishaps. Unfortunately that didn’t happen. I walked in to get my carry out order to find out the server accidentally gave our pizza to another person. I had to wait an addition half hour for my order. No discounts or free items were offered for their mistake. No wonder their WDM location closed down. I am extremely frustrated and disappointed in their service. If you want Chicago style pizza just go to Chicago…
