Not impressed. Sandwich was good, but do to the slowness of staff I probably won’t return. There was a two sandwich order before my take out and it took a good 20mins., REALLY!?! I have two small kids and no time for incompetent, slow workers. Out of the 7 people working, 1 ½ were making sandwiches. And between the two of them, they seemed confused about what each were doing. What a shame. For this on the go mom, I’ll be sticking with Jimmy John’s for my sandwiches.

So overrated. I was really excited to try their subs. Their menu looked tasty but their execution was not what I expected. The bread was really soggy, I will thank you one more time and hopefully change my review for the better.

Don’t go for lunch. Well unless your lunch is two hours long. The sandwiches are just OK for the price, they should be much better. The time you have to wait this place should be a 5 start restaurant with liquor on the menu. I ordered the NYC steamer with pastrami combo meal $ 12.50, very steep for lunch. I’ll bet I waited 15 minutes, for a to go order. The sandwich meat wasn’t the best I’ve ever eaten or stacked as high as I would expect. I know of at least two south side sandwich shops that have better quality meat and reasonable prices. Lesson learned stay local! The place is very disorganized, other then the younger girl behind the counter nobody had a clue what was going on. I’m glad she was in charge of my sandwich. She was the only one who seemed to know not only how to make a sandwich but, what was going on in the place. She was the only truly nice thing about my experience at Firehouse subs. Well that and they do have a collection of hot sauces for your sandwich but, I’ve got that at my desk. Got time on your hands check it out, otherwise steer clear.

We came here around 1:30, so we can’t comment on speed at lunch rush, but our sandwiches arrived in a reasonable time and were excellent. They have one of the umpteen flavor Coke dispensers and, unlike another place we knew had one and were very disappointed by, really has a lot of choices. We’ll be back.

Subs are freshly made and juicy! Hands down right there with Jimmy Johns or better. You will wait 5 may be 10mins but it’s worth the wait! Lots of charity going on as well for First Responders. Never forget the men and women who serve in our community.

I have absolutely no clue why I decided to Firehouse Subs again. They are extremely slow. I had to cancel my order after waiting for 42 minutes. They won’t be around too much longer.

Food is great. That’s where the positives end. Customer service is awful. Time it takes to finish subs is slower than a sit down restaurant. This is not a fast food place. It’s also littered with trash, not appealing in the least.

This place probably won’t be around long. I like the concept but I stopped it for my first time at lunch today & I should have known by the # of ppl waiting at tables for food. But I wanted to try it anyways. As I am sitting waiting for my food the 3 staff members start to bicker back and forth not that that’s bad but when all your guest hear it that’s not good business. It’s now been 20 min and I have only seen 5 or 6 meals completed. The frustration between the staff gets so bad that one guy walks out in the middle of lunch. I waited another 20 cause unlike most I’m not limited to a short lunch. That being said several ppl started asking for money back & just leaving. 45 min later I decide I’m done as well. In & out of Chipotle in 2min! This place is the most disorganized place I have ever seen. I’m not really mad cause it became comical after awhile seeing more ppl walk out, then food getting made. I in no way will ever go back to this place. I will admit the maybe manager guy was trying his best but with the other 2 not having a clue what’s going on made it difficult for him to make food & have to refund at least 15ppl that I saw. I really don’t like to talk bad about places but if I were you I’d stay away!

The cashier recommended number 1 which is their most popular sub. Went with medium sized and wheat bread and added olives. I’m not sure what they do to heat the meat and cheese, but it is great. The portions are a bit smaller than other sub shops but they make up for it in quality. It’s not quite as good as Jerey Mikes but it’s tastier than a Jimmy Johns, Quizos, or Subway. The coke machine is one of those cool machines that you can add all sorts of flavors like a cherry vanilla coke.

I’ve waited six years for Firehouse Subs to come to Des Moines, it’s finally here! We always ate here when I lived in Florida. I love the taste of their subs, especially the honey ham. There is always a wait, maybe sometimes a little too long… download the app you can order from your phone and pick up:)

Been here twice. Based on the survey the Judge took off the receipt. There are many things this place needs to work on… Out of the 6 bodies working. One appeared to know what he was doing. Place was not busy. But it still took 20+ minutes to get a carry out sub and salad. No apologies offered for the long wait. Or thanks for that matter… Sure would be nice to see them making the Judge’s sandwich. What I did notice them doing was messing with the 6 or more different stickers for the sandwich wrappers. The Judge would rather have a well built sandwich. Worth the Judge’s money he earned on the beat. Both items were small for the money that was paid. Sandwich was a sad cheese and steak. Very little meat and not much more veggies. See the photo… The bread was soggy. Uncooked peppers and onions… Firehouse leaders… You guys should go to Jersey’ Mike’s subs and learn a few things. JUDGEMENT: Firehouse Subs needs work to be worth the Judge’s money! As the Judge always says. Go try for yourself. If you have time to WAIT a long time for a overpriced Sandwich.

Went to this location and ordered a some subs. I have had many other times in other states and this location lacks organization and the true firehouse sub experience with them greeting you and so on. Taste of subs were no good compared to other visits at other locations in other states. Asked for hot pepper cheese and was told its was seasonal!?? What is seasonal about this cheese and yet they offer online to… Subway is better and has more flavor!!! Seems like the brand and quality is going downhill fast… I will take my money elsewhere to!

Really irritated at this restaurant. Other folks like it but I am not impressed. Twice I have gone in there and waited for a long time to get my to go order and this time it was even screwed up! I ordered the under 500 calorie Hook & Ladder and got the specialty Hook & Ladder medium size. I was very specific when I placed my order. I guess IF I ever go there again I will have to open the sack & check my order before I leave the store. Boo.

The first time I tried firehouse was in Florida. The closest one at the time was Ames. My experience at this store was fairly good. Saves me the trip of going to Ames as long as the next stops in are like this. The only only small problem is the setup.

Slow, overpriced, and terribly unorganized. It’s new, but you don’t need to try it. Go to Quiznos – just as bad/good but much, much faster and cheaper. If firehouse subs reads this: Yelling«dispatch» instead of my name only makes my wait longer. Especially in the case of the terribly organized, small dine-in area.

I was told it’s a good sub but wow so very disorganized get it together. Didn’t tell them what I wanted on my sub. Dis-organized could be good a lot of work to do. When I got to eat it was tasty. They allow you to round up your totally that gets donated to local firehouses! That’s pretty awesome.

DOWNGRADE. I understand this location is new but it’s seriously flawed. First flaw: The cash register needs to be at the entrance at the start of the counter. People come in and wait in a long line to order, then go back to the front of the store where there’s no room and by the entrance to wait, it makes zero sense. Two: They’re completely overwhelmed. I’m sure they’re busy because they’re newly opened but I just waited 25 minutes for ONE sandwich. The cashier was giving the people in front of me free soda cups for the wait but I didn’t get one. No apology when I showed them my time stamp receipt and the current time on my phone. Three: They need to communicate if the wait is longer than average. There were ten people working behind the counter but they were tripping over themselves. Agree with Kenton F, lots of yelling but not much doing. They were also out of brisket so the sandwich I wanted was unavailable. Maybe announce this or have a sign? I understand the Ingersoll location is owned by the same person. LET’S HOPE it’s better than this location or I won’t be a Firehouse Sub customer any longer. FEEDBACK: There’s a website on the bottom of the receipt that you can give feedback. I pretty much copied and pasted this review. I marked«yes» in the spot where you can have someone from Firehouse contact you about your experience. No response. Go figure. Lost my business.
