Great place to eat! Very reasonable prices and a huge menu. I definitely recommend the nachos(several varieties like chicken, brisket, etc). They’re SMOTHERED in queso, shredded cheese, feta, pick de gallo, garlic sauce, and and meat(only $ 6.99 or $ 7.99)!

If you’re looking for some late night eats upon your visit to Court Ave. then make sure you stop in to Fuzzy Tacos! Their California Heat Taco is spicy but by far the best taco I’ve ever had. Their blended Margaritas are an added bonus! The later on a weekend night you go the longer the line and they will cut the line off at some point so make sure to get there a little bit earlier than closing time to make sure you get service. A friend of mine rolled an ankle outside the shop and an employee even helped him into the store so that he could call his friends. This is by far one my favorite taco shop and is my new obsession!

Bland, Americanized tacos that are safe for people who shun spicy or even flavorful food and/or don’t want to interact with Mexicans. A step above Taco Bell, I suppose, but many steps below any taco truck in town. Plenty of iceberg lettuce and shredded cheese(American cheese, maybe?) to go around. «Fajita» beef was well done to the point of rubbery, also lacked flavor. Not sure why they advertise these tacos as they are nothing like the tacos you’d actually get in Baja. My «California heat» grilled shrimp taco had no heat and is not anything like you’d get in San Diego, LA, or San Francisco. My chips and guac were ok, guac seemed fresh but unsurprisingly lacked spice.

Great frozen margarita for only $ 5!!! Nothing to complain! I came here after I just ate. But their food looks so good. Definitely will come here for food sometimes!

I am the typical American consumer. When I come to a place, I want to be treated kindly, pay a fair price, and receive goods or services in an easy and efficient(within reason) manner. The ordering experience at this restaurant is so weird. Maybe it was my bad for going in the middle of a day, a little off rush time. But why would I want to stand in a super long line on a hard floor and then after ordering, be shuttled off to pick up my own food at three different locations around the store? It’s like a weird traffic jam. Here’s the order I received my food in: main dish(tacos), appetizer, margaritas. So weird. And it was average. Tasty Tacos are better. If you’re looking for something new and different, just hop on over to Guru BBQ and get the tacos there; the experience is not confusing, relaxing, and the food is on point.

I came here for lunch during work hours. First thought was, how pleasantly surprised I was by the atmosphere. It was a nice day out and the garage style gates were open and I felt like I was at a beach. The menu looked good from all the options they had also and it definitely was. All the prices on the menu were so low I thought I wasn’t going to get enough food when I ordered my $ 6.99 plate of food. It was an enchilada with a taco combo and came with two sides of my choice. I didn’t think it would be that much food so I ordered their $ 2 tacos. When the order came out I was in shock. I had a whole table full of food. It was like eating at a buffet. I ate absolutely everything. It all tasted so good especially with the spicy sauce they have there. I had pulled pork taco and ground beef taco. Both of which had fresh vegetables on top and were seasoned to perfection. My coworker and I were both very happy with what we ordered, and said it will definitely be out regular spot. All in all, I think this place is great. Good prices, tons of food, and awesome atmosphere.

First time here. Surprised on a Tuesday evening it was packed. Had brisket nachos which were really good. Huge portion, could be shared for sure. Also have huge beers in what looks like margarita glasses? Very big, heavy glasses. Definitely good food and a lot for the price. Give it a try!

Bruh, you drink beer from super heavy chalices. Maybe it’s a tactic to help you not to drink so much bc it gets heavy with every sip. Price: Look to spend around $ 10 per dish. They serve lots of alcohol too! Parking: Lot, first 2 hours free w validation. Food: I got the fish tempura taco and the grilled fish taco. Both were overwhelmingly covered with shredded lettuce and contained maybe 2 small pieces of fish each taco. They didn’t taste like much more than lettuce and corn tortillas. Service — SLOW. Long line w only one cashier. I think this place has a cool vibe(+1), but I wouldn’t come here again if I were craving Mexican food.

Fuzzy’s is located in a nice new modern building on MLK across the Science Center downtown. The area is buzzing and lively. The parking lot is great and parking is validated for up to two hours. My partner and I got a couple tacos: Shrimp tempura, fish tempura, grilled fish, grilled shrimp, and brisket. We liked our tacos. We didn’t come in expecting authentic Mexican tacos and it was what I expected for Tex-mex food. We thought the amount of protein in the tacos were kind of minimal compared to the lettuce and shell. Out of our tacos, we like the tempura shrimp, grilled fish, and grilled shrimp the most! I like the cheese and garlic sauce they out in it too. We also shared chips and queso and enjoyed it. The queso has shredded cheddar in it as well. They serve all their alcoholic drinks in large margarita cups by the way! We were surprised to see the beer come out in one! Service was great and food comes out fast! They made a mess up taco on accident so we got a free extra taco! It’s a fun environment and next time I come, I would like to try non-taco items like the enchilada or burritos.

The first place I enjoyed Fuzzy’s was in Ankeny, but since then I have frequented this downtown location. This is located in the new plaza just across the way of Principal Park and is fantastic! The plaza offers free 30 minutes of parking and up to 2 hours free with validation from any eatery in the plaza! Everything in this building is newly renovated so everything is modern and clean. The atmosphere of this location fits well with the downtown scene, they serve alcohol, have TVs, and outdoor seating! You order at the counter and they will give you a pager to pick up your order from the kitchen window, and they are FAST at getting the food out! The staff members are very friendly and have upbeat personalities! The food is great! The tacos to me are standard, but the burritos are terrific! I come here often and recommend it to anyone who has not tried it!

I have had Fuzzy’s Taco Shop book marked since it opened at 300W. I finally got the opportunity to check the place out. They have a pretty good system from ordering until you pick up your food. We got the Chips & Queso with Ground Beef. I didn’t feel the Queso & Beef had any real flavor. Very bland, the chips had seasoning on them, but not very tasteful. I got three soft shell Baja Tacos, Grilled Fish, Spicy Pork, and Shredded Brisket. They were just average, they really seamed to miss having any flavor. The grilled Fish was probably the best, but didn’t have much fish. They all seamed to need a little more meat and a whole lot more flavor. This place could be a solid four with some spice in the pork, some smoked flavor in the brisket, and some fish on the taco. Just average for me, but good for a quick lunch.

Stopped by Fuzzy’s for the first time on a Saturday night and the wait wasn’t too bad. It was almost midnight so we missed the dinner rush and the drunk people :) We ordered 4 tacos all with a flour tortilla. The prices for the tacos were in the $ 2 – 3 range so they’re decently priced. Compared to Taco Hangover, this place is way cheaper but the quality of the food seems a bit lower. We got a ground beef, tempura fish, carnitas, and shredded brisket. They all came with a similar sauce so the brisket and carnitas kind of tasted the same. The ground beef had the most flavor in my opinion. The fish was a bit small so I wished it was bigger. Overall it was ok. I can see myself coming here after a late night of shenanigans in downtown though :)

Third visit to Fuzzy’s. Fast pace and always packed. Not too bad of a wait for a Saturday night 7:30pm. We’ve also visited during a busy lunch hour and didn’t wait too long. 2nd time having the fish tacos. I just think they’re boring. I have ordered both tempura and grilled and I just think they’re plain. Small amount of fish they put in them. Also had the enchiladas and they’re alright. They’re enchiladas. Nothing super different. Tastes more creamy. Kid and family friendly. I appreciate the kid menu for picky kids. The shredded brisket nachos are probably what I’m going to stick to when we go there.

Fuzzy’s Tacos is just ok; not terrible but not wonderful either. My husband and I have been wanting to try this place out for a while. I’d say it’s worth trying once because it has a really fun atmosphere. As others have said before, this is Tex-Mex fast food, not authentic Mexican. So don’t come here expecting that. We weren’t expecting that, but I was hoping they would at least have some salsa for our tacos. I asked the guy at the window handing out the food about the salsa and he said they didn’t have salsa and they were out of pico de gallo. They at least had some good hot sauce at each table that was decent. I got a combo plate with a brisket soft shell taco that was good along with a pork enchilada, fried diced potatoes and cilantro lime rice. The enchilada was also good but the potatoes would have been better with some ketchup on them. They were kind of dry. They didn’t really have any condiments other than the hot sauce. The rice was lukewarm and would have been better if it had been hotter. All of the food lacked spice and could have been seasoned more. My husband didn’t like his Mexican rice because he thought it was way too bland and his refried beans were dry and lumpy. It seemed like everything tasted better only when we added hot sauce to it. I will say you do get a lot of food for what you pay and the prices aren’t bad. The cheap $ 2PBR was a great deal, too. I can see this place being really popular in the summer with the outdoor seating and the proximity to bike trails. One side of the building has garage door-style windows that roll up to the ceiling. I could see those opening up during warm weather. I would come back again and try some other things but probably not very soon with so many great restaurants in town calling my name.

New place downtown to grab some food or late night snack. Open til 2am some nights. Located in the cool new building on MLK(300MLK). Prices are right and you get a good amount of food. I recommend a combo plate for first timers because you can try a variety of things and see what you like. Combo comes with 2 sides. Variety of quality meat options but not much for vegetarians. They could work on this. I had the Taco Combo — one beef brisket and one california(tempura shrimp with funky sauce) and lime-cilantro rice + spicy potatoes. I love the garlic sauce on the main tacos. They offer crispy and soft shells, as well as flour or corn tortillas. Hot sauce on every table and drink cups are good for $ 1 refills when you return. Decent quality. A fun take on Latin cooking but not really authentic Latin cooking. If you want authentic Mexican, go to La Placita. If you want to try something new and funky, go to Fuzzy’s.

Fun taco shop we drove by and had to swing back to for lunch Tacos were very tasty… we had the beef and chicken versions on soft shells. The Brisket Nachos came in a very Large portion… could have used just a bit more brisket and heat.

Ground beef Tacos need more seasoning. Spicy pork taco wasnt spicy. Maybe i just got pork? The pork enchilada was tasty. The best part of the food was the mexi rice and borracho beans. I suppose the food is okay, but nothing stands out as crazy good, or delicious. So its just meh. However my girlfriend loves the california heat trmpura shrimp tacos. The environment is fun. I suggest the fuzzy mimosa. It has an adorable little bottle of barefoot champagne. I would say 2.5 stars but since there is no such thing, they get the benefit of the doubt with 3 stars.

I ordered the 2 tacos plate dish. Comes 2 tacos of your choice with 2 choices of sides. I got 1 beef brisket hard taco and 1 shrimp tempura soft taco. My 2 sides were fried potatoes and mex rice. Everything was very good and tasted fresh. The brisket taco has a salty and cheesy taste that goes well with the crispy shell. The shrimp tempura was crispy and complemented the soft taco. I thought the sides were very good as well. The price was also better than expected. Based off of portion and quality you would expect to spend more than $ 10. My plate was about $ 8. I definitely would come back again. This location has a lot of parking in the back on the MLK side.

**military friendly, will give military discount with valid ID** I’ve been wanting to try out Fuzzy’s since I heard it opened up in Ankeny. My friends down in Texas love this place. But since we hardly make our way to ankeny, I was happy to hear that the downtown location across from the science center and baseball stadium was finally open. The building is brand new. Entrance is in the back where the parking lot is at. The entrance is also the same entrance for all of the shops for the building. The décor and ambience was fun and casual. The menu is extensive and easy to read. You order first and they will give you a pager to pick up your food in the back where the cooks are making your meals. My only negative was that the cashier whom I ordered from was not very knowledgeable on their menu. I don’t know if she wasn’t trained well on their items or what, but luckily the owner was more than happy to help us out. The employee needs to study the menu better and know how and what to offer the customers when it comes to suggestions, especially since this was our first time here. The Food: Taco platter which comes with two tacos of your choice on soft or crispy shell and two sides –shrimp tempura taco on soft shell– 4⁄5(only thing I didn’t like was that the shrimp and taco were small in my opinion but the flavors with their sauce on it were great!) –brisket taco on hard shell — 3⁄5(it was a good mixture of flavors especially with their sauce on top and this taco was bigger than the soft shell) –mix mex rice — 4⁄5(great flavors) –fried potatoes — 4⁄5(perfectly crispy and soft and seasoned just right) I will definitely be coming back! I heard that the portions for the chips and queso dip were huge enough for 2 – 4 to share. Will probably get that next time!
