Mt Rainier Pool

Facility is well maintained and pool operation upkeep is fantastic. Restrooms for the general public are too small however locker rooms are of good size. Good security to the locker rooms from the general lobby area requiring granted access. Spectator elevated bleacher seating is available for easy view for swim meets, dive competitions, and /​or general observation of lessons and open swim. Dress in layers given you are in a pool setting and depending on outside temperatures, may be cold or hot and humid. Hours of operation are flexible to meet varying schedules throughout the day, evening, and weekends. Parking may be a bit challenging given the many swim programs that may be running, thus leaving you to have to park on the side residential streets, but if the high school parking lot is open, there is that convenience. Friendly and professional staff are there from the moment you step foot in the building, to ensuring safety in the pool and on deck, and making swimming one of the funnest sports/​activities around.

My kiddo took swim lessons here since he was 4… The instructors are fantastic — worked really well with young kids… I had him in weekly lessons here for a few years until he joined the swim team.

I came here for a private event on a weekend. We’ll call it «swim training» for the purposes of this review.
Thefacility doesn’t seem like much from the front, but it has two huge locker rooms (female and male) and a huge pool area with spectator seating. I was very surprised to see how big everything was inside after being a little unwhelmed from the first impression of the outside. They had a lot of parking available in the direct lot and on the street around the facility (I have no idea how busy this lot gets on a normal basis, but I’d be surprise if parking here was ever a problem.).
The facility was also clean. I mean CLEAN. Super impressed with the cleanliness here, and the staff person who was diligently cleaning when we were tidying up and getting ready to leave. She didn’t just glance at it, think it was clean, and move on. She actually swept the entire floor.
The staff person was very accomodating of our company event whch involved quite a bit of set up inside their facility. She was really friendly — greeted everyone — and helpful when I needed assistance.

My daughter has been taking swimming lessons here for the last month. The instruction is very direct and friendly. She can do a backstroke across the pool now, and can nearly do freestyle across the pool. The facilities are well maintained. There are a variety of communities who use the pool and so it feels like one of the more vital spots in the Des Moines Area. I’m always glad to go there.
