Always leery of food-court food but we were hungry and this was close to our destination. Banh mi had tender nicely seasoned beef with basil, lettuce, cucumber, and cilantro with a light sweet-and-sour dressing on a fresh, tender roll. The phở was great, too, with a savory broth, al dente sprouts, basil and cilantro, and half a dozen tender shrimp. Delicious all around!

I have only been there once, and it was probably the first week they were open. The good — authentic Vietnamese flavors for sure. I did like the spring roll and the sauce that comes with it. Reminded me a lot of a «famous» Vietnamese original in Des Moines, for what it is worth. The bad — my chicken bahn mi(spelling?) wasn’t balanced at all. Hardly any chicken and the roll was excessive. Flavors were right, but it was pretty skimpy on chicken. Interestingly, my friend ordered a vermicelli dish and thought it was very skimpy on meat as well. The strange — so many items just sitting in that little warmer oven… yuck. Make it fresh or hide that thing in the back! Also, the cans of soda in a cooler are kind of ghetto. I will try it again, and I hope they get enough meat in the dishes by then. Otherwise, that’s it.

This new Vietnamese restaurant opened up a few weeks ago in the downtown kaleidoscope, so I decided to give it a try. I ordered the vermicelli with pork, since I didn’t want to sweat while eating the phở due to a meeting I had after lunch :) It didn’t take long for it to come out, which made me think if that was a good thing or bad thing? When I sat down to eat, the pork was a little cold, so maybe it was already sitting out waiting for someone to order it. Besides the pork being a bit cold, it still tasted pretty good. The vermicelli noodles were cooked enough and the fish sauce was your typical smelly fish sauce that we all love lol… well some of us do :) Overall, my meal was pretty good minus the cold meat. I will have to go try the phở soon… maybe when it’s winter or when I don’t have a meeting right after lunch :)

Just visited this new entry in the Kaleidoscope at the Hub food court. Tried the vermicelli with pork which was delicious with fast and friendly service. Will be back again to try the Phở. You wont be disappointed. Try it for lunch.
