Good place. Awesome bartender, fun crowd. Real stuff. Cheap drinks, authentic whiskey feel, TVA, def can’t complain about anythng. Not high class and no specials, but wasn’t expecting it.

Got major league hammered when I was out on business, they have The Macallen which is my favorite! Good place, could use a few women under 200 pounds though!

My father on law asked for a Crown on the rocks and it was not Crown… I asked for a Makers Manhattan… and it was definitely not makers. Horrible whiskey bar.

I ended up walking out of this place. I was sitting at the bar at around 7pm on a weekday, when I could overhear some obnoxious guy loudly talking to the female bartender and a few others and telling some stories using terms like «eat some p*****» and «suck a d****». I didn’t really hear what the conversation was about, other than the loud rude language. I then realized that this was either the owner or a manager holding court with his staff.
I ended up moving to a table and asked the bartender if that obnoxious guy was the owner. She said he was somewhat sheepishly. I told her that she could pass along that I will never come back here again because of his foul language that I didn’t want to hear. Her response was «well, this is a bar». I told her it’s still unacceptable for the entitled owner to carelessly behave like this in front of customers.
I’d recommended going down the street to the plenty of other great places in downtown Des Moines.

Whiskey Dixx… First off what a name! I could go so many places with this one but I will refrain and just say if you are a fan a Whiskey (which I’m not really!) This is the place for you! They have over 120 Whiskey’s to choose from! They also have a pretty impressive fridge full of bottled brews (more my cup of tea).
The service in here is quick and kind, and they do not hassle you if you have no clue on what you are ordering! The crowed like a bottle of Jack is usually in black t-​shirts, ready to rock!
They have been having more live music here, so that’s pretty cool but it can get pretty loud in there as well.
If you want a shot downtown, with out the cover! This might be your new Whiskey loving lover!

What a great spot! No pretenses, no fuss, just good old whiskey. If you want that honkey-​tonk kind of vibe with live music, mouthy (but super fun) bartenders, and an interesting crowd, come here. The selection of whiskey is pretty outstanding — everything from local to relatively high-​end bottles. I love how divey this place is; it’s super charming and makes me want to put on some cowboy boots!
